Have to agree with your there on the bedding - beats the Doubletree, Hilton, Sheraton & Ayres right there. Rate can't go any lower... Their fitness room has a lot of older equipment; however, for anyone using machines (15+), it'll let you hit every body part. Shower heads provide good flow, respectable channel selection (ok, the old 27" TVs can go...) and the $10 internet is at least a moderate speed (but can act up). Don't let the trains keep ya up, though LOL. The 3* Residence Inn there across from the Doubletree is a good option when you can land it - particularly for an extended stay - the breakfast is terrific for this level property.
This Marriott should continue to be available sub-$40 for most if not all of 2010, particularly with the add-on fees in place. Curious as to their break-even point these days - Marriott employee rates used to be $29 (ok, 15 years ago); however, I believe they're in the $40's now. There'll be plenty of rooms available in virtually every market around the country for quite a while methinks. For anyone wanting to avoid the parking, the Doubletree has an abundance on the back side of the convention center - still a long walk but an easy cut-through. Both the Ayres & Holiday Inn bordering Holt has plenty that are a little closer. Wasn't worth the effort but, nevertheless, it's an option for those pinchin' pennies a little tighter.
