  1. My beef is here. The Trip Advisor rating on the HOTWIRE page was 4.0 - which to me is an 80% satisfaction rate. The actual Trip Advisor satisfaction rate is actually much lower. Since Hotwire provides the Trip Advisor rating as an inducement to get me to book the hotel, I have a problem with it being wrong.
  2. Dates 6/27 - 7/04 Rate $198 per night. Amenities - cut and pasted from my reservation at my Hotwire account: 4.5-star Hotel in Midtown East This Hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Business Center Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply. Laundry Facilities (self-service) <amenity names only please... not descriptions> High-Speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply.
  3. I'm not the original poster and I was just trying to help identify the hotel. I'm sorry for any confusion. There were no other amenities listed (I checked carefully) and I thought with the high satisfaction rate and the amenities this would be the Palace. As the previous poster said, there is no way the Waldorf Astoria can be considered a 4.5 star hotel with a 90% satisfaction level. The hotel is in serious disrepair and needed a full renovation 20 years ago. My winning bid was exactly the same as the rack rate for most of my stay. I didn't even look at the AAA rate. I consider it a fraud for Hotwire to use a green thumbs up and a link to a Trip Advisor logo and be so far apart on the guest satisfaction level. When I pressed them on their guest satisfaction ratings not surprisingly they gave me no detail.
  4. This description (NYC Midtown East, 4.5 stars): This Hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Turned out to be the Waldorf Astoria. Hotwire said that the hotel had a 90% satisfaction level, and a Trip Advisor 4 circle rating (80%?), when the real Trip Advior rating for this hotel which needed to be renovated 20 years ago is 65%.
  5. Temple is playing at the Linc on Saturday and the Flyers are at home Saturday night - adding to a difficult weekend. Congrats. By the way, the 4* at Penn's Landing is now listed at $325 on Hotwire.
  6. Most other people would be able to make this work for one night, but a nice hotel experience is important to me - and I know that this trip could be ruined if half the reviews that I read were accurate. I know I am somewhat crazy - and that probably does not make me an ideal candidate for Hotwire or Priceline, but with careful research I have never been disappointed in the past. I wish there was a way I could 'donate' this room to someone so it doesn't go wasted. I did end up booking at the Sofitel. (Thanks for correcting the title of my post. :) )
  7. Based on previous wins I thought I was safe in not getting this hotel (no mention of pool). The problem with bidding on Hotwire. I will now book the old fashion way and eat this room. I did use the HOTWIRE link at the top of the page. 8. Despite the busy night (Springsteen concert) I was able to follow my friends' leads and get this hotel (and cancel my regular $179 reservation for the same hotel). I used the link at the top of the page. Thank you.
  9. Used the PRICELINE link at the top of the page. Thanks to everyone who posts their resuts. This was for two rooms.
  10. 4-star hotel in Times Square - Theatre District This hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Spa Services AAA rate on the Westin website for this date is $474.05 - so I am very happy with this hotel.
  11. Using the HOTWIRE link on this page I bought my first Hotwire hotel (for my sister who is getting her apartment painted - didn't want her in my small apartment :) ). Using the information on this site I felt comfortable enough to know that I would likely get the Westin (spa gave it away) and so I did. Thanks very much.
  12. I won the hotel that I wanted on the first try - and we can add another hotel to the list! Thank you for your help. I went through the PRICELINE link on the top of the page. Marriott Hartford Downtown 4 Stars Downtown Hartford 200 Columbus Boulevard Check-In Date: Thu, Jul 3, 2008 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Fri, Jul 4, 2008 / 12:00 PM Amenities: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $100.00 Subtotal: $200.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $34.68 Total Charges*: $234.68
  13. Sorry about the multiple posts. My earlier one was mistakenly in the Hotwire forum. My maximum bid is about $250 - slightly less than if I got the rack rate at the Marriott. But I don't want to overbid and end up at the Goodwin (or somewhere else) for higher than their rack rate. Thank you.
  14. I would like to bid this zone for July 3 (1 night). I can not find any reported 4* wins in this zone. The only comparable that I can think of is the Marriott ($289 AAA rate for that night). There is another hotel in this zone that if renovated could be a 4*, but as is, I don't see it (The Goodwin - $149 AAA for that night). Any suggestions on how to bid this zone? Thanks.
  15. The regular Priceline (not name your own price) shows one four star hotel in downtown Hartford (the Marriott). I would like to win this hotel on PRICELINE. What are the chances that their Name Your Own Price inventory might include another hotel in the same category? Thanks very much.
  16. I stayed at the Goodwin a few months ago and thought it was a dump. I did hear that there were some renovation plans for it, but I don't know how far along they are. If you are picky, be advised.
  17. Made multiple reservations for these two nights, including one reservation for Saturday, and one just for Sunday. Used link on the main page to access PRICELINE.
  18. Started at $60 - I was offered the $17 re-bid option, which I rejected. Rebid once adding airport zone - won at $65. Total for two nights is $158.27.
  19. I have been bidding this stay for a week - starting at $65 and using the free rebids. Today I started at $80 and won at $100. The Grand Hyatt's website rate has come down to about $159 (when I started looking at this stay it was about $250) - so there might be increased availability here. This is Spring training and some of the Yankees have stayed here in the past so I am happy with this win.
