  1. Hi, Back again. I figured the question that I posted out for myself. Actually, once you get to bidding, it is clearly stated that you enter your bid in per night per room format. I started with MTE, MTW, CPS, and TS. Had all my rebid zones ready to go with a planned rebid strategy. I started with two rooms at a 4* for tomorrow night $140. No rebid strategy needed as my bid was accepted for Sheraton New York Hotel And Towers. I noticed that in the calendar of wins there are no wins for that hotel but I also notice there are no wins for such a low price. Any input on that would be great. Pfarrelli
  2. Hi, Tonight I will try to bid for two rooms for tomorrow night in NYC. Will try for 4* in MTE MTW and TS zones for starters. If i want to pay around $130 a night for example, do I enter $130 after selecting "two rooms" where I enter date and city, or do I enter $260? Thanks. I hope I get a response FAST! So that I am not up all night or end up spending twice as much as I want to. Thanks pfarrelli
  3. Clicked PRICELINE link in BB .. Bid 6 times adding non 4* regions .. Win at $150.
  4. Toasted sesame bagel with cream cheese and lox at Ess-a-Bagel was AMAZING! Lox was tender as sushi. Room was VERY clean, typical size (not small), and the view excellent (we got lucky with a front of building room). Lobby was very nice, clean and all staff was friendly and professional. Overall experience was very positive. The green line subway #6 was very close and extremely convenient with stops in Grand Central, 33rd Street (not far from Empire State Building), SoHo, and Downtown.
  5. Okay .. will try the bagel place and let you know about our stay. Thanks.
  6. Alright I got a room .. not thrilled with the price but hey it's VD! Used BB PRICELINE link (of course) Bid MTE, MTW, TS 4* $150, denied, add rebid zone $160, denied, add rebid zone $170, denied, add rebid zone $180 ... NUTHIN! restarted browser Bid MTE, MTW, TS 3.5* $140, denied, add rebid zone $150, denied, add rebid zone $160, denied, add rebid zone $170 ... ACCEPTED! Marriot New york East Side
  7. Ya .. even HOTWIRE has decent prices for dates OTHER than VD weekend! But the night of the 13th (the night I need) is a beeatch! ARGH! I do see a decent price at the Edison Hotel that is a few doors off Broadway in times Square for $209. It is a good clean place with a nice bar .. Might just end up doing that.
  8. Well .. we did think of the DT area but never really stayed in that area before and not sure if it would lend itself to fun activities/sight seeing. Could always take public transportation, I know, but being in mid-town is optimal preference. Any idea, historically, what I should be bidding for 3.5 or 4* to snag a room? Thanks
  9. Purpose is concert Sat night near downtown/soho and general sight seeing on Sat and Sun. Out of the city not really desireable. Suggestions? May have to pay more if not outrageous. Sorry about the multi-thread.
  10. VERY WEIRD. I just tried again .. I lowered my price and added two locations, ESB and CPS. PL said "DUPLICATE REQUEST" which is odd because I have never added ESB or CPS in any of my other requests. ESPECIALLY in the last 24 hours. Has anyone seen this before?
  11. I am getting frustrated as I have been bidding using BB link and re-bid techniques all week in the $95 - $125 range for 4*, MTE. I saw someone got Grand Hyatt for $105 and Roosevelt for less (not sure what dates), so I thought my bid would be reasonable. Out of frustration I just tried $135 for 3.5* MTE, TS and still nothing!!! What is one to do?? Is the VD weekend making my offers unrealistic? I really am hoping to keep prrice with tax around or less than $160. Taxes run $30 or so.
  12. I think the following zones in NYC have no 4* so I can feel safe to use them as my free rebids?? 1,3,6,7,11 Can anyone confirm this? Also, Will the third bid in the following example get rejected as a duplicate bid? Bid 1 - MTE 4* $100 Bid 2 - SoHo 4* $100 Bid 3 - MTE, SoHo, 4*, $100 Finally, is there a link to an EXAMPLE bidding pattern somewhere (where you try a few bids .. restart browser .. bid more .. etc)? I have seen some around for specific posts but I can't seem to stumble across any right now. Thanks
  13. I am surprised nobody has responded to you. I am learning too but it seems like you have a lot of options to work with regarding zone and star level. Basically the way things work is that you need to bid all permutations of each category until you get a win. I am by no means a pro but here is a kinda sorta example ..... Say you want just 3 or 4 stars in zones 8 and 9. You would do something like this: Bid $110 for 4 star in zone 8 ..... if rejected go to next line bid $110 for 4 star in zone 9 ..... if rejected go to next line bid $110 for 4 star in zone 8 and 9 (not sure if you can do this being you already bid 8 and 9 individually).... if rejected go to next line. Bid for 3 star in 8 bid 3 star in 9 bid 3 star in 8 and 9 ...etc etc This is how it works. Poke around this forum and you will find that the pros that watch the forum often post legitimate patterns to follow.
  14. Is there a code for SoHo area (similar to MTE, MTW etc)? Anwyay, went to PRICELINE though BB link and just bid $105 for 4* SoHo (zone 4) for 2/13. I was rejected. Now I want to add any of what I believe are no 4* zones. (1,3,6,7,11). Correct me if I am wrong. Question: Can I keep the same price of $105 and expect a possible win in SoHo area, or is it essentually bidding the same amount for the same rating in the same zone, which may basically be asking for a rejection? Thanks. Also .. Wouldn't mind MTE if it will get me the Grand Hyatt, although SoHo is my choice as we are going to a concert in that area and want to see Little Italy, China town, SoHo. etc.
  15. Date is February 13th. One night. Budget .. $140 ish I guess. Does the Grand Hyatt sell through HOTWIRE as well? Is the bidding process the same or similar to PRICELINE? I have done PL about 5 times. That is teh limit of my experience. Thanks P
  16. Hi, I have gotten the Grand Hyatt in NYC once in the past. Love the hotel and love the location adjacent to Grand Central Station. I think my winning bid was $140ish, but that was four years ago. Is there any suggestions as to what I can do in Priceline to increase my chances of securing the GH given the fact that Priceline picks a hotel for you based on your search criteria? Thanks. P
  17. YIKES .. I just scored this place for $50 a night thinking I just hit the lottery. Now that I read reviews and other posts here on this hotel, I am worried. I don't plan on spending much time in the hotel but I certainly don't want to sleep in a dump. Is there anyway out of this once Priceline has charged my card? What would be suggested in an effort to get the best I can out of the experience if I am stuck there? Paul
  18. YIKES .. I just scored this place for $50 a night thinking I just hit the lottery. Now that I read this I am worried. I don't plan on spending much time in the hotel but I certainly don't want to sleep in a s-hole. Is there anyway out of this once Priceline has charged my card? 19. I tried a little longer and thought .. "what the heck .. let's give it up and wait til morning". Doing so, I woke up to find our flight to NYC is delayed 6 hours removing any need for a room in NYC as there will be no time to enjoy the city. How ironic is that? Well I learned a lot and I will be back soon enough to click on YOUR links. You have quite the shtick going here. Nice job and a great idea!!! Thanks!
  20. Bummer .. I suspected it mighta ben a wrong date entry. That hotel is too far DT. We have limited time, coming in from Newark tomorrow evening and leaving through Grand Central early afternoon Sunday with a bunch of luggage. We have a semi-planned escapade through midtown, and possibly as far down as Greenwich Village. Well, any further help is welcome, otherwise I don't know, I guess I just shell out the bux or just keep trying. I wonder if there is something going on in the city tomorrow night. It seems very booked. Thanks. PF
  21. okay .. I am perplexed..... I did what you say on your HOTWIRE link ... and I fill in the box .. and for the night of the 16th I see no 4* even close to under under $220 (or so) in Midtown. I also click the Radison link you give me and when I put in tomorrow night the 16th it responds with .... "Hotel is not available for requested dates. Please try another hotel or revise your dates of stay." further thoughts? TYVM .. again
  22. I have a follow-up question. How do you know (though I can't find what you are referring to yet as you might gather from my previous reply) what "something matches" up to? In this case you suggested G'Hyatt or inter'Conn. BTW, I would love to stay there as to get out of town quicker when we need to via GCS. Also, Raddison is showing no availability for 2/16. Thanks again.
  23. I am not sure what this means? I can't move to a lower bid? I am looking for the nicest at the least amount. I would love to book straight up with your suggested options without having to bid.I will use the links. When I click the HOTWIRE link and then the 4*@2* rates (new york) it seems that the check in dates are 2/17 and after and also $145 or more. Am I missing something when you suggest G'Hyatt or InterConn? THANKS SO MUCH SO FAR!!
