  1. Hi, Went with PRICELINE, and got 4* ESB at $195 CAD at St.Giles The Court. Thanks again for your help!
  2. Hello, I've replied to the halifax thread, thanks. After changing to USD, the following is what I found: 1) $185 per night w/Restaurant(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access; 85% recommend 4* (St. Giles - the Court?) 2) $215 per night w/Free Internet Pet friendly Boutique Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Spa Services; 70% recommend 4* (70 Park Avenue?) 3) $227 per night w/Free Internet, Fitness Center, Business Center, Self service laundry; 95% recommend 4.5* (St. Giles - the Tuscany?) Also, is it ok to just search for 2 adults if I'm also bringing my 8 month old? I understand I would need to ask for a crib but if I put in 2 adults and 1 child, the prices go up significantly. Thank you!
  3. Hello, We decided to book with the wedding group that provided a group rate at the Best Western Chocolate Lake. It was a great stay, though. Thanks again for all your help!
  4. Hi there, I'm trying to book a hotel in the ESB area that's 4*. I found these 3 hotels via Hotwire and I can't seem to figure out the 1st one. I think the 2nd one may be 70 Park Avenue, and 3rd being St. Giles Tuscany. If you can help identify all these, that would be great. 1) $201 CAD per night w/Boutique Hotel Restaurant(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access; no reviews yet 2) $237 CAD per night w/Free Internet Pet friendly Boutique Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Spa Services; 70% recommend 3) $247 CAD per night w/Free Internet, Fitness Center, Business Center, Self service laundry; 95% recommend Also, is it ok to just search for 2 adults if I'm also bringing my 8 month old? 5. Hi, Thanks for all your help. I don't think there's much info anywhere regarding these other 'Bedford/Chocolate Lake' hotels so I better not trust myself to book blindly via Hotwire or Priceline. I did check for a date, for fun, at the end of April and the amenities that match Best Western Chocolate Lake does pop up in Hotwire with 3 stars. However, they are still gathering reviews for that property. Seeing how this hotel does pop up in Hotwire with the previously posted amenities, perhaps it is just not available during the weekend when I'm there. Again, thanks for your help .. I will use the links when I book my stay.
  6. Hello, I understand that I cannot get a guaranteed hotel. However, on Hotwire, 3 different hotels pop up in the Bedford/Chocolate Lake area. Unfortunately, I can't even figure out which other hotels are there but here are the info: 3* for $88/night: still gathering reviews for this property Amenities: smoke free room, high speed internet, fitness center, business centre, restaurant, laundry (self-service) 2.5* for 104/night: still gathering reviews for this property Amenities: complimentary breakfast, high speed internet 2* for 87/night: recommended by 25% of Hotwire customers Amenities: complimentary breakfast, high speed internet I'm just wondering if I should just not try Hotwire seeing how I don't know which one may be the Best Western, and I can't even figure out what hotels are available in that area. Thanks for your help.
  7. Hello! I have clicked the above links and of course I will use the links prior to my travel purchase. Thank you in advance for helping us out!
  8. Hello, Trying to stay at the Best Western Chocolate Lake but not sure if it's 2*, 2.5* or 3*. Looking at the Hotwire regular list, it's listed as a 3*. The Hotwire hotel list on Better Bidding shows 2.5* .. and Priceline shows 2.5*. Previous winning bids in 2010 was listed as 2.5* but in 2011, only a 2*. Looking for a stay for $80 or less - any ideas on how I should proceed? Thanks!!
  9. Won 70 Park Avenue for $183 (yup had to bump up a bit more) in ESB! Thanks for all your help!!!
  10. Yeah, I just realized that I didn't make too much sense. We like the Downtown SoHo area, ESB and MTE, and are trying to avoid staying in the busy Times Square area. Checked out some reviews on MSG/Chelsea, and wasn't too fond of the area. It's also our anniversary, so am hoping for a nicer 4* hotel. We are actually going all over the place but mainly shopping in SoHo, Macy's, Century 21, and then of course Broadway/Central Park/Guggeinheim/Discovery TS.
  11. Thank you for your ideas! On Priceline where you can book the hotel directly, Yotel was listed as MTW thus, I thought that would be how they'd list it for name your own price. For $158 in Chelsea/MSG, we'd rather go a bit higher and stay more central .. does that make sense? I think we're probably willing to go up to $180. Will think about it some more and as always, appreciate your ideas and will definitely click on your links for bidding.
  12. Sorry, switching back and forth .. very uneasy with bidding the 3.5* hotels. Went to $160 today with SoHo/Financial District/ESB/MTE. Got a counter offer of $201 for ESB. Hmm. Will try again tomorrow morning .. sigh.
  13. Thanks a bunch. Decided to go with the 'safe' route, and booked with Marriott at $109 + tax.
  14. Seems like they aren't taking our bids so we're going to move to 3.5*. Now we're thinking of SoHo/Financial, MTE and MSG. Want to avoid MTW as Yotel is on the list of Priceline hotels for that region, and not fond of staying in that area. Any particular starting bid point do you guys recommend? Thanks!
  15. No preference on staying in the Downtown area, but we've presumed it to be the 'cheapest' out of ESB/MTE/MTW. Your thoughts? So we're going to just do Aug 28-31 now, and stay in New Jersey for the last night. I think we feel better not splitting the bid. Since the prices went down a bit today, do you think I can redo my bidding strategy from the above post? Thanks!!!
  16. Hi all, Hoping to score this hotel for the night before flying from EWR. How can I bid so that this hotel comes up as Priceline is stating that it is grouped with Meadowlands? I can book it for $109 + tax on the Marriott website. How much do you think I should bid for that one night? Thanks a bunch!
  17. Thanks for your suggestion. Do you think it would be much different if I dropped the last day (might save some money by staying in NJ the last night since we're flying out of EWR)?
  18. Yup - done! Thanks for looking at this post! Failed Empire State Building and SoHo/Financial after rebidding $155 also .. hmm.
  19. Ended up staying at Bally's through their own website deal. I think we got it for $70/night in the north tower - it was very decent however, now that I think of it, $70 was too much for Bally's!!!
  20. Failed the Downtown SoHo Financial District bid .. :)
  21. Hello! We're looking to spending some days in NYC and have thoroughly read up on how the rebidding zones worked, etc. As of today, I have 5 free re-bid zones (Coney Island, Long Island, Madison Square Gardens Area, Queensborough and Upper East Side) However, still a bit frazzled about the whole bidding thing .. thus, am 'talking my way through' via this forum. If you have any tips or suggestions, please let me know! Am hoping for any of the 4* hotels in SoHo or Wall Street, or even The Kitano (which won bids according to the calendar) in the Empire State Building area for less than $150/night AND close to subway stations. We've stayed in the Times Square area before and as other people have spoken on this forum, we want to stay away from it! Are there specific days of the week when Priceline prices drop? Alright, here's how it'll (hopefully) go: Select 4* Downtown SoHo Financial District Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone.. and bid $150 If this doesn't work, retry above with 4* Empire State Building? Sooooo, do you think this is realistic? Thanks in advance! :)
  22. hl23 - Thanks for your comment however, we had to rethink our budget and although we do think Palazzo is amazing, it is out of our price range. Glad to hear you had a great time though! dahammer - Yup I do know about the rebidding process however, I didn't want to continue with that with the south strip as I was getting worried about getting Luxor/Westin. I have taken your advice and stopped bidding in the south. So thus far tonight, I have been bidding 60/65/70 in the north strip 4*. Not accepting anything. :) Just keep going?
  23. Hi there, First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone for posting on this site. It has been extremely helpful to read up on all the helpful posts with regards to bidding on Priceline!!! :) I have been bidding on 5* on the Strip North for the past week (hoping to get Venetian) but, to no avail, bids from $110 to $135 were not accepted, and the lowest counter offer was $157. I did, however, notice that the 'average median price' drop from $349 to $289 over the last few days ... Anyhow, so I spoke to my bf and we decided that maybe we don't need to splurge on a 5* and save some money. So I started bidding for 4* Strip South at $60. Counter offer was at $95 with the 'average median price' at $242. Looked today and Priceline says that in Strip North for 4*, 'average median price' is at $199 today (vs. $279 yesterday). So, my questions/concerns are: - For 4* Strip North, what other suspected hotels other that TI (as listed on the Nevada Priceline list) can I expect? - What price should I start off with today to bid a 4* Strip North? - When Priceline counter offers, how much more can my bid drop with regards to 'that price'? We just want to spend a pleasant weekend in Vegas but with recent reports about Luxor's mediocre service, we really don't want to stay there. And very unsure about staying at the Westin. Thank you kindly in advance for all your comments/suggestions/answers!
