  1. good morning... We have 2 different accounts with priceline...one in my name & one in hubby's name (his last name is different than mine, we have different e-mail mail addresses on each account, different credit card #'s saved, but the same phone # & address obviosly... I could swear I have had success in the past bidding for same hotel in separate try's but before the 24hr waiting time & had success....just tried a bid we are trying to win, & got the message from priceline that it is a "duplicate try within 24 hrs"...... Is this something new? are they getting smart(er) - how would system know if it is different accounts? Do they now use home address or phone #'s to match up requests??? Just wondering if anyone knows answers to this... :)
  2. Hi again - wasnt sure if I needed to keep Hotwire/Priceline questions separate - thanx for the clarification on this subject I agree slim chance of $50.00 being accepted, so went with the 60.00 max bid strategy , but no luck - will keep trying & let you know if I have success using LINK to bid....thank you again for this great site & your advice :)
  3. I have a zone question for Hotwire - you have this Hotel on your Hotwire Hotel List: Hartford (Wethersfield - Rocky Hill - Cromwell) 3* Crowne Plaza Hartford Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis This hotel is in Hartford, but the Wethersfield - Rocky Hill - Cromwell zone map on Hotwire definately does not include ANY of Hartford, especially where this hotel is located (right @ the crossing of interstate highways 91 & 84) My question is the exact amenities listed above are showing on Hotwire for 59.00 but the zone map (Wethersfield - Rocky Hill - Cromwell) does not include Hartford as explained above - if I bought this & it ended up being the Hartford Crowne Plaza which is definately not in the "zone map" shown for the Wethersfield - Rocky Hill - Cromwell zone would Hotwire be forced to refund the purchase as it isnt within the zone map they show for the purchase?
  4. Hi - Looking for a bidding strategy for 3.5* in Rocky Hill for 1 night 12/31... I believe I have a total of 9 "free rebid" zones to work with? Looks as though it is probably the Marriott Rocky Hill - which unfortunately the lowest rate I see for this night is AAA rate of 170.00 :) per nite!! I figure with time on my side maybe try & low ball a win? Looking to max out @ 50.00 - (maybe 60.00) for my bid...I know it's a real long shot - probably highly unlikely?? If you think I shouldnt waste my time, dont hesitate to say so...if you think it's worth trying, a strategy would be great - I can adjust the $$ amounts accordingly during bidding if I want to go up to 60.00.... Thanx!!
  5. OK - I have made my purchase but just have a few quick questions as I have spent a good part of the day researching thru this forum about hotwire so I can learn a little... Aaron JB - Yes, I see it now - after going back to probably Aug on this forum, I can see that the 3.5* I thought was the Hilton Oceanwalk, was indeed not true as the Oceanwalk did come up with the correct list of amenities like the restaurant on a prior reported win...I thought the 3.5 was the Hilton, but the restaurant & resort icon's werent there, so I am SO GLAD I asked before I purchased as I would have been stuck with an unwanted win :) Thanx for helping!! Is this still true on Hotwire? - If so then the 4* Hilton Oceanwalk & the 4* Plaza would not show up at the same time as they are both in the Daytona - Ormond Beach zone?? I am still trying to learn so thanx for any info... Rather than wait, as our trip is soon I went with the 4* as follows used the HOTWIRE LINK 4* South Daytona - Daytona Beach Shores 12/9 for 3 nights resort beachfront fitness center pool restaurant business center high speed internet spa services Hoping for The Shores Resort & Spa...& yes that was what it was - Thanx again AaronJB!!! It was 89.00 this morning but by this afternoon it had dropped to 84.00 - It has great reviews - We are thrilled!! :)
  6. Good morning - after more thought & research my hubby & I have really narrowed it down to we would want to go thru Hotwire, because we really want to obtain the Hilton Oceanwalk in Daytona Beach.... I am not sure now if my identifying "guesses" on my first post are correct from your hotwire hotels list, as I am confused about the Hilton now being rated as a 4* "resort" but was previously a 3*.....but under the amenities, it is the only one that has the golf & tennis on the list, but it also does not list a restaurant on the Hotwire amenities for booking, but on your hotels list - hotwire it is listed..... This being said, the reason we want to go thru Hotwire is we DO NOT want to end up with the Plaza Resort & Spa which I am afraid will happen if I go thru Priceline, we only want the Hilton, or will pay the extra $$$ amount & hotwire the 89.00 Shores Resort & Spa..... (if I have identified this one correctly on my previous post????) Please help with this indentifying issue, I am sure you know much more than I as to which hotel is which based on the amenities...... :)
  7. Hi - looking to build our upcoming Florida trip - I am usually a "Priceline" shopper, but there is a 4* hotel in Daytona called The Shores Resort & Spa that intrigues me, so I am not quite sure if I want to "risk" my chances bidding as there are more than one 4* hotels in Daytona thru Priceline.... can u help identify these 3 hotels.... 4* - South Daytona Beach - Daytona Beach Shores - 89.00 - amenities are - resort, beachfront, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, high speed internet, spa services - is this The Shores Resort & Spa? 4* - Daytona Beach - Ormond Beach - 69.00 - amenities are - resort, beachfront, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry, high speed internet, spa services - is this The Plaza Resort & Spa? 3.5* - Daytona Beach - Ormond Beach - 66.00 - amenities are - beachfront, fitness center, pool, laundry, high speed internet, golf nearby, tennis nearby - is this the Hilton Oceanwalk? Has anyone stayed at these particular properties? If so, is The Shores Resort & Spa as nice as it looks, or all three comparable....as in should I just risk it & do the Priceline bidding....Any info these questions would be GREATLY appreciated...thank you :)
  8. OK!! success!! Used your strategy, but decided to use lower $$ amounts - I kinda felt I could win it for under $50.00 & wanted to low-ball it for ha ha's..... used the PRICELINE link... Selected 3.5* Airport... Bid $30, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $33, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $37, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $41, ACCEPTED Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport 9300 Airport Blvd offer: 41.00 taxes etc: 12.65 total: 53.65 I am pleasantly shocked that this was the hotel to accept as it is listed as the probable 4* on Hotwire & pricing for room via website & AAA discount was $135.00 for that exact date!!! This is soooo much fun - as soon as I figure out where we want to go in the beginning part of the trip I will be looking for another "bidding strategy" THANK YOU!!! :)
  9. Hi - looking for some info & bidding strategy for 12/17 1 night at Orlando MCO airport... If I am correct I have 6 "free" rebid zones @ the 3.5* level? current pricing I am finding for possible wins on hotel list are: (not guaranteed I know) Marriott Orlando airpt AAA - 94.00 Crowne Plaza Adv Purch 79.00 & AAA 91.00 Sheraton suites airport AAA 89.00 Hyatt regency airport 135.00 - also via hotwire - I am coming up with: help identify...... 4* 55.00 - shuttle, fitness, pool, restaurant, bus ctr, high speed int, by best guess is the Hyatt Airport? 3.5* 49.00 - shuttle, fitness, pool, restaurant, bus ctr, h sp int access - probably Crowne plaza &/or Sheraton suites? So, would like to bid via Priceline first : would like to win for as little as possible obviously - under 40.00 possible? strategy would be appreciated & THANK YOU :)
  10. Yes you are right - I wasnt thinking it through when I responded.....anyhow I have had SUCCESS :) as per your (very helpful) info/strategy: Select 3* Ledyard-Mystic... Bid $35, if rejected add re-bid zone1... Bid $40, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE Select 3* Ledyard-Mystic and re-bid zone2... Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone1... Bid $50 only thing I changed was I bid $53.00 at the end instead of $50.00.....accepted Hilton Mystic 20 Coogan Blvd Mystic CT 10/28/09 3 nights $53.00 p/n $28.95 taxes $187.95 total used the PRICELINE link ended up with an approx $30.00 per night savings over the hotels website AAA price so I am happy!! Thank you again
  11. Thanx for the response - just to clarify - if I follow the same strategy you have given me, I shouldnt end up with the radisson - new london as long as I DONT use this zone as a rebid zone - when I looked this am it showed I did have the 2 rebid zones if I did not include the new london zone.... also hotwire shows a 3* Mystic hotel for 69.00 p/n for same time frame - amenities are non smoking, comp bfast, fitness ctr, pool, business ctr, high speed internet access....would you agree this matches the Hyatt Place Mystic??
  12. Hi - looking for a bidding strategy for Mystic CT for this Wednesday 10/28 - 10/31/09 - here is what I have researched so far... my husband and i each have a PRICELINE account so we can each try to bid. Want to stay in at least the 3* level - I also do NOT want to end up with the Radisson (Niantic/norwich/mystic - new london) on the reported possible hotel win list on your website) - it looks to me if I want to avoid this I only have 2 "free rebid zones" to work with?? That being said it seems as though there are only 2 possible wins @ the 3* level in Mystic - Hilton Mystic & Hyatt Place Mystic - I realize there could be a possible unreported hotel win in Mystic, but I guess that is the risk of it all!! Direct AAA pricing for both hotels on their websites are as follows: Hilton Mystic - 87.00 p/n for 2 dbl beds or 127.00 p/n for bed assigned @ check in or king bed..... Hyatt Place Mystic - 125.00 p/n..... when I go onto PRICELINE to pull up Mystic area, it also does the "price chop" pricing for some other hotels in Mystic, but they are listed in the part where you see what you are buying, which I assume is different than the room inventory for the name your own price section....but just for info in case you need to know the Hampton Inn suites Mystic is listed there - I pulled their direct AAA web-site pricing up & got 95.00 p/n for 2 queens so here is the $$$ amounts lowdown - I can book a 3.5** Bellissimo Grande In North Stonington CT which is acceptable to us cuz it is very close to what we are looking to do in the area thru Expedia or outright thru their website for an avg daily rate of $73.00 p/n & it has good reviews, so is it possible based on what I have told you to "win" on priceline for less than that like in the $50.00 range, or am I looking at a waste of time even trying to do a priceline win with the reasonable $73.00 rate they offer?? any thoughts or a low ball$$ bidding strategy you can offer will be great - Thanx!!
  13. Yahoo - decided to go out on a limb & "try" bidding on Priceline for 3* hotel for 5/29 on the cape......here's my results!!! selected 3* Hyannis bid $50.00 - got the message about "increase bid by $14.00 now it will be accepted, so I knew I was close!! I rejected & added free - rebid zone... bid 57.00 - rejected - added free rebid zone bid 60.00 ACCEPTED!!! $60.00 room $13.85 taxes $73.86 total Courtyard by Marriott Cape Cod - Hyannis 707 Iyannough Rd Hyannis, MA I think it's a fantastic win as I was up to 60.00 on my try in Middleboro!!! Room rates on website for this date (AAA) are $152.00 per nite!!!!! I am soooo happy... :) :) :o Used your PRICELINE link to bid & Thank you for such a great site!!!!
  14. thanx for all your help...as an alternative I am seeing 2 hotels on hotwire for this date 5/29 & may decide to just take one of these as the pricing is near my max (& below) & it puts me right onto the cape.... need help identifying: 2.5* Hyannis, Yarmouth, Dennisport - $71.00 - Breakfast, Pool(s), Business Center 2* Hyannis, Yarmouth, Dennisport - $49 - Pool is the 49.00 2* the Howard Johnson? - Has anyone stayed there? will use the links to purchase....thanx!!!
  15. Tried strategy above & rejected....willing to try again tommorrow....should I bump up my increments by 5.00 (will make my max 65.00) right from the start, or should I just try the same $$ amounts I tried today....any thoughts or ideas on this welcomed.... ps. - using your PRICELINE link to bid :) .....thanx....
  16. sounds like a plan...I have a little time on my side, so do you think 50.00 max to start is too low? I can up the $$$ a bit if this doesnt work...thanx!!!
  17. bidding strategy Plymouth, Middleboro, or Cape Cod 5/29 have gotten great price for a weekend on Cape Cod, (Sat, Sun, Mon)....looking for a bidding strategy for our Friday nite 5/29 stay on the way to the Cape....here are my thoughts/preferences... want to stay at the 3* level to start, but willing to go down to 2.5* if needed to keep cost down... Would like to get onto Cape for Friday, but it will be late & we are looking to not spend alot of $$$ just to sleep....the conventional (AAA) pricing I am getting for hotels that are on your hotel list are as follows.. 3* Sheraton (Hyannis, Yarmouth, Dennis) not finding any Sheraton in this area...(only a four points by sheraton in Dennis, so not sure if this is even valid as a possible win) 145.00 p/n 2.5* Holiday Inn Hyannis - 161.00 p/n That being said I/we would be just as happy bidding on Plymouth zone & Middleboro zone to keep cost down as I am sure staying in these zones would be much more cost effective....AAA pricing is: Plymouth zone: 3* Raddisson - 130.00 p/n 2.5* Hilton garden Inn 125.00 p/n Middleboro zone: 3* Courtyard by Marriott Raynham 98.00 p/n 2.5* Holiday Inn Express 126.00 p/n I am assuming you will suggest going for the 3* Courtyard in Middleboro....How low would you suggest that I can/should I start my bidding amount at? would 45.00 to start be too low?? A bidding strategy would be greatly appreciated...thanx very much :)
  18. OK - thanx for being patient with me - We have changed our destination for the weekend to Cape Cod, as I got a fantastic deal on a 1 bedroom "condo" @ a resort......for 3 Nites, Sat, Sun & we decided to add Monday....I am looking for a new strategy for our Friday nite stay on way to the Cape, but I am thinking I need to start a new post under Massachussetts???? hopefully this is correct...thanx :)
  19. either of the 2 properties sound fine, but only for the friday nite stay, so I will want to keep up trying for the Sat & Sun stay in Newport first, & if/when I am successful with that then I can do the friday nite stay as that has lots more flexibility for me as far as area....I would like to try & bid for a cheaper rate thru priceline for friday, on the 3 star level...I really want to try & stay south & west of providence/newport as this is the direction we will be coming from...if you have a strategy for this that would be great....the 42.00 p/n seems to a pretty decent price too @ the hamton inn if there is not a win on a cheaper priceline attempt....thnx!!!!
  20. hi - had some ideas to add to this but they involve a possible hotwire purchase as part of the 3 days, so hopefully I'm posting this correctly in this same thread & not a new one as it is for the same dates.... thinking of a possible 1 nite hotwire (or priceline purchase at a lower * rating) for the friday nite 5/29 as we will be heading out after work anyhow & it will be an after 9pm arrival which gives me more flexibility to up the $$$ amounts for Sat & Sun on Newport.... any bidding strategies in mind for a 2.5* - 3* for the 1 nite in the south kingston zone & a possible $ amount to start at? I dont see any hotels on the hotels list for this zone, so not sure what to possibly expect or where to look for conventional pricing on the respective websites of the hotels to get a $$$ amount idea also if anyone can identify the following hotwire properties they could be possibilities for the "travel" day 3* warwick/w warwick/cranston 5/29 - $42.00 - (??Hampton Inn & Suites??) amenities: airport shuttle comp bfast fitness ctr pool(s) business ctr laundry fac high speed internet access 2.5* warwick/w warwick/cranston 5/29 - $49.00 amenities: airport shuttle comp bfast fitness ctr restaurant high speed internet access
  21. Thanx for the advice....tried as above, but rejected....but time is on my side & I may try tommorrow and have hubby up the $ increments starting at 105.00 & increase each step by $5.00 or so & see if that goes thru..might bump last step up to the 125.00 mark....maybe the rooms released into the 'PRICELINE" system may be replenished with more rooms????? not sure how that works....do hotels release a certain # of rooms into the priceline system daily, or is it just random when they feel they have extra rooms to try & fill?
  22. Hi - Looking for a bidding strategy for Newport (goat island) for 5/29 - 6/1 (3 nites).....have only seen a recent win for the Hotel Viking as the warm weather season is just beginning here for this area, so have some questions also & some info that may or may not help..... I am hoping these 3 hotels are still in the "priceline winning possibilities", Marriott Newport, Hyatt Regency Newport, & Hotel Viking....is there any way to tell other than "recent" wins? Are all of these considered 3.5* hotels on priceline? based on the respective websites for the 3 hotels the "AAA pricing" for these dates are as follows... Marriott Newport - 318.00 p/n Hyatt Regency Newport - 335.00 p/n Hotel Viking 277.00 p/n I'm not sure if these rates can help anyone give me an idea of how much I could/should expect to start my bidding amount at....would 125.00 as my max be unrealistic? Not sure how to approach this & would welcome any advice as to a realistic $ amount for bidding & a strategy... My husband and I both have PRICELINE accounts, so we can both bid and use some extra chances to win something, plus I guess I still have some flexibility in my timing for bidding as its still 3 weeks away..... Thank you again for this great site!!!!
  23. Thank you for the info, as I had the same thoughts about the # of hotels there that it might be risky....I had asked for a friend who is making a "last minute" trip for a family need, & she was not comfortable with the possible outcome for hotels, so she has decided to just "wing it" when she gets there for accomodations.....thanx againg for a geat site & your help!!!
  24. Hi - Can anyone help identify these two hotels on Hotwire? Dates are for 3/16/09 - 3/20/09..... Both are in zone Daytona Speedway - Daytona Intl Arpt - DAB... 2.5 * 48.00 p/n breakfast fitness center pool 2* 43.00 p/n breakfast pool laundry Thank you!!
