  1. I started my bidding by following the link to PRICELINE on this website. Thanks for all the notes from everyone that helped me plan my bidding. I was happy with either USE or USW so went back and forth between the two. I might have been able to get it for $92 as others on the calendar had it for 89 and 90, but I left out a step doing my rebids; and rebid $95 when I changed from USE to USW - instead of also trying $92 there. Sometimes it gets so confusing :-) I started at 80 and then rebid using the 5 free rebid zones; Rebid at 85 88 91. But then I was stopped in the middle of rebids? So stopped and changed credit card and email and went back at 92 and got it for 95. But very happy with the win, it's a busy weekend so great to have a 4 star at this price. As a note I believe this same hotel was showing on HOTWIRE for $122 (hard to tell as it matches several others) Thanks again for all the help.
  2. We were delayed due to the volcano and bumped for 5 days, so as a very last minute - 6 hours to check in - we got this Holiday Inn on the beach at Destin. Thanks so much to the other better bidding member that identified this just a couple months ago. As a note, there is the 3 star holiday-inn and the 3.5 star Hilton Sandestin Beach and Golf resort that seems to come up in this area. The holiday inn was right on the beach and near restaurants and shops in town. While the Hilton was down the road and a bit out of the main town area. Also, although the Hilton is on the beach some of the rooms are quite a way back - more of a huge condo resort place. While at the Holiday inn all rooms where within 100 meters from the beach. Highly recommend the hotel, typical holiday inn set up and very clean with a great staff. We used the HOTWIRE link on this page to make the reservation. We used HOTWIRE, instead of trying PRICELINE as there were 3 of us traveling together and wanted to be sure of a double instead of a king room. The hotel was great and the staff was fantastic. We were just at the end of spring break so believe that is why the rate was a bit cheaper. 3. Well I was shocked at this one. Most sites I've looked at had this Hyatt as a 3.5 star. I purchased this thinking/hoping I was getting the Westin as it was the only 4* listed on Trip Advisor/Expedia and others. But I did find that Kayak lists this as a 4 star. Overall not a bad hotel but way more that I expected to pay for it. However, please note this was a for 3 people as I didn't want to run into problems with room / bed arrangement. I checked again and was offered the same hotel for 2 people for $84. Still more that expected for 3.5 hotel. The amenites listed were: Fitness Center Business Center Pool(s) High Speed Internet Restaurants Golf Nearby Looking forward to the stay - seems like a nice hotel. I started my HOTWIRE Purchase here on this site - thanks betterbidding.com!!
  4. Last minute trip. Only wanted to stay in the Champs Elysees-Opera Quarter West area. Started with the PRICELINE link on this site. Bid of $100 CE-OQW - rejected offered counter $122. Closed the browsers and started again with the PRICELINE link but wasn't allowed to rebid. (There were no rebid areas - 4 stars available in all of them.) Later tried again with the PRICELINE link. Bid $110 CE-OQW and won the bid. I was biding on two hotel rooms for one night. Really enjoyed our stay here back in January. So looking forward to it again. Thanks for all the help I've got from this site.
  5. Thanks for the help. It must be this one day as I see a win just came in that included monday before.... Seeing that I rebid in all the areas to include Eiffel. But no luck. Decided to try up to $200 but still didn't do it. I have a back up hotel - at $140, but much rather stay nice 4 star. :-) I'll try the same bids over the weekend to see if any cancellations open anything up. But if not I'll go with my other hotel. It was a last minute trip - free tickets to the air show may end up costing me! thanks again for all the help.
  6. Hello - and thanks for all the help. I am trying to get a hotel room for one night in Paris on Tuesday 16 June. I have read other posts and know it may be a problem due to the airshow. I was hoping for the St G/LQ Marriott Rive Gauche with all the other successful wins The followings is what I've tried so far. Using the PRICELINE line link on this website: ST/LQ/M - 115 add CE / OQW rebid 125 then It went directly to a page that said sorry we can't find a hotel for you but try these other Priceline hotels - transparent listings. I expected to be offered another rebid. Am I doing something wrong? So then I closed the browser when back in add bid on St/LQ/M along with B/M/R(no 4stars) - again it gave me the page sorry we can't find you a hotel try these 'transparent' ones. Besides that - if you have any other advise on best way to get a hotel for this one night. I would like to stick with ST/LQ/M or CE/OQW or OQE or I can try Eiffel Tower but I'm worried about the Pullman - don't want that one. I'm prepared to go as high as $150 maybe $160. thanks
  7. Hi There, Thanks for the all the help from this site! I used the PRICELINE link to start my bid (add rebids) I found what appeared to be the Hotel Le Meridien Etoile on HOTWIRE for $129. So I kind of thought I might get that on PRICELINE. I started with a $95 Bid for the Champs Elysees OQW, at which time I was offered a rebid of $22 more ($117), then closed my browser to bid again. I was surprised that when I rebooted and tried to bid again it wouldn't let me. Usually I can get in a couple bids that way before being "caught". Maybe because they offered me the rebid?? I don't know. Anyway I rebid $100 adding the OQE - Les Halles zone, and my bid was rejected. Then I added the Batignolles - Montmartre - Republique zone (as I checked and they had no 4*) and bid $105. My offer was accepted and I won the Concorde La Fayette. I have had friends stay there and they liked it so I'm happy and looking forward to the visit. Thanks for all the help.
  8. I am trying to get a hotel for my daughter and I for two nights close to west end for the 21/22 Jan. Over the past few days I have been bidding for a 5 star in Mayfair Soho to see if something opens up I bid 100 (close browser)then 110 (close browser)then 120 using the PRICELINE Link from this site. Yesterday on the $110 bid I got a rebid offer of $179 then on my bid of $120 I got a rebid offer of $170. Just thought I'd share the info with anyone who may need it. When I finally get a hotel I'll give the details. We are sticking to Mayfair Soho now and if needed I'll go to Bloomsbury. We prefer to stay Mayfair as we walk all the time and plan to see 3-4 plays while we are then so having a hotel near by to stop in (especially during the cold weather) is important to us. My plan is to add 4 stars this week and see what I get. I'm not in a real hurry now and I think that after the holiday period if business is really slow more lower price rooms may open up - that is my thinking anyway - don't know if it is true however. Thanks this is a great site!!
  9. Thanks for the help.... Showed up just as stated on the hotel tip page. Fitness / Pool / Restaurant / Business / High Speed Internet --- showed up as a customer favorite Trip Advisor 4 out of 5 Shuttle is not listed as amenities but there is a shuttle. Cancelled flight and needed a hotel just for the night. Was listed as $179 on the Hyatt website. Expedia had it for $129
  10. Sorry - after the couple hours on the computer playing back and forth getting the hotel I got a little sloppy on some of my details here. To clarify - yes it is the "Hilton London Olympia" that I won on priceline. And yes, I did use the reviews here and got a lot of helpful info. In fact I thought the hotel reviews here were very helpful with details like bus access etc... I also use trip advisor but the resources on this site are very helpful and useful. And my note about the PRICELINE link - What I meant to say was make savingsbarn.com a favorite link so you can go back through them each time when you bid. Since you're closing the browser after making an unsuccessful bid. Thanks again for all the help and input from everyone on this site - it's great!
  11. I initial tried in the Westminster and mayfair / soho areas to get a 4 star or above. I made about 10 bids from $100 all the way up to $160 by closing the browser rebooting and also when I was finally - 'caught' and told to wait 24 hours, I used a second CC I have. However, no luck there. I dropped down to $70 and included Kensington - I was hoping for the Holiday Inn Kennsington as others had favorable comments, and I believe it was listing on Hotwire (only a guess by using the notes on this board). No luck then I tried at $82, still no luck but finally at $87 I got the Olympian. Right after this I saw on Hotwire the oympian (again a guess from using this site) showed up for $99. With taxes and all it is a breakeven but once that Olympian is in there (and it lists as a 4* for priceline) it is hard to get anything else in that area. The tripadvisor reviews sound ok, I'll post on return. One Tip is to bookmark the pricewire link from this website so you don't have to keep coming back to betterbidding when closing / opening browsers.... (took me a couple times to figure that out). Thanks for all the help from everyone in their posts.
