  1. I bid in increments of 2-3 dollars starting with $72 while using the free rebid zones. However something strange happened when I reached $85 and submitted my bid. The submission took a long time and after about 5-7 minutes of waiting I got a "sorry we aren't able to complete a deal right now, please check back in 15 minutes" with a button next to it saying " check status" . I clicked on it after about 10 minutes and was told I got the President Hotel. looks like a nice hotel in a great location, although I'm a tad disappointed in the price. Seems like you can find this hotel for around $98/night all in. Which is cheaper than my after tax rate of $102/night that I got. Coming off my $3 a night savings win in Munich, I'm wondering - is NYOP for Europe losing its edge?
  2. Sure no problem, Amenities: Free Internet Pet friendly Restaurant(s) Internet access Spa services I messaged another user who won this hotel last year to see if they have any insight into the Resort Fee. Otherwise, I guess I will have to find out if they charge me once I get there.
  3. Happy with this HOTWIRE win. However, on Hotwire, it says "This hotel charges a resort fee which you pay at the hotel directly. It isn't included in your Hotwire total." - Fee given is $12.40. Anyone have any idea what this fee is for? I've stayed at actual resorts in Hawaii which charged this obvious cash grab, but this place just seems like a regular (albeit nice) hotel. So my confirmation page read: Hotwire total due today 304.29 Estimated resort fee due at hotel 12.40 Trip total 316.69 Can anyone shed some light onto this? Thanks!
  4. One night won at the Hotel Cristal. Hope it's good. Came pretty much right up to a PRICELINE EXPRESS Offer for the same area and * rating. Probably saved about $3 =P
  5. Used P/L link above Started at $16 but offered a free re-bid (which only accepted amounts greater than $19) This was after unsuccessfully bidding for Mid-size and Standard cars in the $16-20 range. Your Offer Price: $20.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 7 days Subtotal: $140.00 Taxes and Fees: $95.75 Total Charges: $235.75 Lowest Published Price: $380.15 (USD) Total Savings:* $144.40 (USD) (You saved 38%)
  6. Bid over 3 days starting at $55 finally getting up to $97. Strange thing is that I had Bonus Cash of $5 (bringing it to 102) a night but for some reason the offer price is listed at 97 (not 102?). Anyways, a bit more than I thought it would be but still about a 33% discount. Bonus Cash: $5.00 Offer Price: $97.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 4 Room Subtotal: $388.00 Taxes & Fees: $74.76 Total Charged to Card: $462.76

  10. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $90.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Room Subtotal: $270.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $45.51 (USD) Total Room Cost: $315.51 (USD) Started bidding at $65 with increasing $2-$3 increments by adding the many rebid zones for 4 stars. Got the Andaz Hotel in the Gaslamp district for $90. Wasn't expected, but I hope the hotel is decent. Just a tad concerned about the "party noise" reviews, but i'll be there Tues-Thurs, so maybe that's not a issue? :) Used the PRICELINE link as per usual
  11. heh yeah, I guess I can't complain. What I really meant to say was there is definately a derth of threads for LAX car rentals on this forum ( I would have thought it would be one of the more popular locations). $90/day for a compact does seem a little excessive though :)
  12. Started bidding at $14/day for a Midsize. Cycled through Midsize, Compact, Economy, Standard, and Fullsize from $14-$16 Finally got a compact at $17. Based on the replies here, it seems like getting a PL win at LAX isn't as easy as I thought :) Your Offer Price: $17.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 9 days(8 days and 5 1/2 hours) Subtotal: $153.00 Taxes and Fees: $62.54 Total Charges: $215.54 Lowest Published Price: $814.63 Total Savings:* $599.09 (You saved 74%) Used the PRICELINE link

  14. Won on first bid after failing to get a Convertible. Probably should have lowered my price but I was new to bidding for cars. Your Offer Price: $20.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 2 days Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes and Fees: $15.41 Total Charges: $55.41 Lowest Published Price: $100.95 (USD) Total Savings:* $45.54 (USD) (You saved 45%)

  16. Bid over several days starting at $27 and increasing my increments of $2. Won at $35/day Your Offer Price: $35.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 5 days(4 days and 11 1/2 hours) Subtotal: $175.00 Taxes and Fees: $51.83 Total Charges: $226.83 Lowest Published Price: $436.28 (USD) Total Savings:* $209.45 (USD) (You saved 48%) The lowest regular price I could find was with Hawaii Drive-O which booked thru a rental car company for $317 for the same period. Used the PRICELINE links on the site
  17. I tried doing this last night for 8/13-8/18 and was rejected! Any advice? Should I just try again today same price?
  18. I got this too just now. Kept waiting for a rejection screen or email. I ended up looking under "My Trips" after calling the robotic customer service and it showed that it was rejected. Very confusing and misleading. Why don't they just do the same as hotels and tell you when they reject/accept??
  19. Another successful $99 bid for Waikiki Beach Total Cost: $234.11 for 2 nights.
  20. I used the following bidding strategy posted by Thereuare in another thread: Select Resort Wailea... Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE Select Resort Lahaina... Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE Select Resort Wailea and Lahaina... Bid $140...Accepted by Priceline Upon bidding $125 in Lahaina, I was counteroffered $147 which I ignored. Ended up getting the Hyatt for $140. Oh and I used the PRICELINE links from the site.
  21. Okay got the Hilton Paris Orly Airport 3* for $96 for 06/27/2008-06/28/2008 Over 3 days of bidding: started bid at $70, counteroffered $96 then bid $75, counteroffered $96 again then bud $80, counteroffered $102 (technically they asked for $22 more) went back to the $75 bid response email and took the $96 counteroffer :) Can someone let me know if I did something wrong? Was the last counteroffer ($102) just to screw with me? oh i remembered to use the PRICELINE links on the site this time :)
  22. getting back into Paris proper is of no concern, as it's on the return leg of our trip and it'll be 10pm arrival and 11am departure next morning. How far from Orly is the Hilton? Is it on the grounds? Do they have a shuttle bus? this might not be relevant anymore, but just out of curiosity, how much did you bid back in 2002?
  23. I did a search but with no results. Has anyone found a hotel near Orly airport? What price did you pay? need 1 night on for the flight back home. I noticed the Hilton Paris Orly on the hotel list. Are there any others? Thanks.
