  1. Bid 21 July 08 (2 nights) - 5* North Strip $50. Refused Added South Strip - bid $80. Refused. Added Convention/UNLV Area - bid $105. Refused. Added Downtown - bid $125. Refused. No counter offers made on any of the above - indeed, they kept referring me to the set price hotel list they have. Added West Of Strip - bid $140. Accepted!!! For The Palazzo. Total was $318.87 (including taxes etc). Even if there's a $60 per night charge for the two kids, it comes to $440 for two nights for 4 of us at The Palazzo. I'm very happy with that!! Thanks very much for your help (yet again). I did bid through your PRICELINE link. Now I've got to get The Luxor for five nights from the 16th for about $120 per night.............
  2. I'm happy with either North or South, yes. Yes, the $180 counter offers were for 5* only. The West Of Strip was a mistake, because I hadn't checked whether it had 5* accomodation. :)
  3. I'm pretty certain that screen shot is only your offer, not confirmation of acceptance! Go to your email and see if you have anything from Priceline there. If you do, click on where it says "Check Status" - that will tell you exactly where you are.
  4. To be honest, I'm gambling that I'll be offered a room with a King bed and may have to pay extra for either two doubles or a sofa bed. As long as that is not more than $60 per night, I can live with that. Sorry to confuse everyone, but I currently have 7 nights at the Luxor at
  5. Just simply - the only 5* hotels in Las Vegas on Priceline are The Venetian, The Palazzo & TheHotel At Mandalay Bay, yes? In other words, I can add as many zones as I like and only get offered those three hotels?
  6. That's what I thought- I couldn't see it in the list. Is it a 3.5* that has been upgraded to 4*? Something like Harrahs or Ballys?
  7. Just got this on Hotwire: 4* Central Strip with the following amenities: Casino Pool Business Centre Fitness Centre Restaurant Spa No TripAdvisor rating. Going for $104 per night (for 2 adults & 2 children) - I may cancel a Luxor reservation and book this if I know what it is!! Thanks in anticipation......
  8. Again, thanks for your efforts, but I booked the Holiday Inn Express direct. It worked out (including taxes) a couple of dollars cheaper than the Hotwire quote, and it is (of course) guaranteed to be the HIE in Pasadena.
  9. To be honest, I've not followed this through because one can not guaranree quad occupancy with Priceline. Thanks for your help though.
  10. Just along from Imperial Palace is The Flamingo, which has one of the best pools in Vegas. If the pool & location are your criteria, this can't be bettered. It will probably be around the same price as IP too. We booked 8 nights from July 16th-23rd with Hotwire recently - cost $105 first four nights, $59 last four! And that's for four of us, not two. I think you could do alot worse.
  11. That's a fantastic deal for a weekend!! I only wish you could guarantee sleeping for 4 on Priceline. :)
  12. Thanks - looks excellent. It looks a decent hotel. That 3* with complimentary breakfast is slightly more expensive, but I may be tempted (because of the breakfast). Any clues?
  13. Having done some research, the areas are within 20-40 minutes of Dodgers stadium, which is fine. I'm sure they are okay, so I'd be happy to stay in either.
  14. Hi, Wonder if you can ID these hotels - very specifically, two adults & 2 children, staying one night (Sat 26th July) checking out on the 27th: 3.5* Pasadena $89 per night (reported as 31% savings) Fitness/Restaurant/Laundry/Tennis/Pool/ Business Centre/ High speed internet (3.0 out of 5 from 40+ tripadvisor ratings) 3.5* Glendale-Burbank-Universal City $115 Fitness/Restaurant/Pool/Busniess Centre/High Speed Internet (2.5 out of 5 from 100+ tripadvisor ratings) 3.0* Pasadena $99 per night (reported as 34% savings) Complimentary breakfast/Pool/High Speed internet/Fitness/Laundry (no tripadvisor ratings) -------------------------------------------- Also, as regards Dodgers Stadium, is Pasadena easier to get to than Glendale/Burbank/Universal City - and what are the approximate distances? Phew! Thanks for your anticpated help!
  15. Aha. Okay - how would I bid for a 5* (I'm thinking both The Venetian & Palazzo are 5*?) for the two nights 21 & 22 July, checking out 23rd?
  16. It's the fact one cannot guarantee a quad room that puts me off Priceline, to be honest.
  17. No, we need quad occupancy. The only 4* coming up on The Strip are Planet Hollywood ($129) and NYNY ($162). Neither really interest me at those prices.
  18. 07/16/08-07/23/08 (7 nights). Yes, willing to pay more for a 5*. But, realistically, more likely to get a decent 4*.
  19. Ok. What I'm wondering is if there is anyway to know that insurance cost prior to hiring the vehicle (without the insurance)? One could then ascertain the total cost, in comparison to pre-paying in the UK.
  20. Hi - I used your Hotwire advice to get a fantastic deal on The Flamingo for the last 8 days of our Vegas marathon - I wonder if you can give me some advice about using Priceline to get a great deal on a slightly higher grade hotel for the first seven nights? I'm looking for a room for two adults and two children, on The Strip, preferably from Palazzo/The Venetian/Treasure Island down to Mandalay Bay. I'd like a 4* or 5* hotel. I'd want it for 7 nights - from 16th July, checking out on 23rd. I've no idea what prices I'm prepared to pay - although I currently have a reservation for The Luxor for this period, costing
  21. There's some great deals with Hotwire, for car rental in Las Vegas in July. However, I'm travelling from the UK. I like to pre purchase my LDW (and normally a 'free' tank of fuel & another named driver) at the same time as my car hire. Can this be done with Hotwire and, if so, how?
  22. Yes, the price per night was $66.50 (including all taxes & charges) or
  23. Same details for The Flamingo as my previous Hotwire Purchase - took the plunge and booked the next four nights too (it was The Flamingo)!! 3.5 star central strip: Casino Pool(s) Business Center Golf nearby Spa services Fitness center Restaurant(s) High speed internet-access Tennis nearby So - that was Sunday 27th July for four nights, two adults & two children. Total cost (including all taxes and services) = $266!! A saving from a previous booking, which I had previously cancelled, of $240 for the four nights!!! Even including the $70 cancellation fee, I walk off $170 the better!! Fantastic deals - thanks so very much. Over the eight nights, I've saved $300 (minus the cancellation fee). To upgrade to Go Deluxe rooms from the standard rooms was $25 per night last year (booked at the front desk upon check in) - this has now been covered by these two deals. Fabulous deal. Give yourselves a pat on the back - great site!
  24. Yeah, we stayed there last year - it's a hidden gem, that pool. It was why we were so keen to go back this year - I already had NYNY booked for those four nights, but this was cheaper by about $60 for the stay. An added bonus. Thanks again - a fantastic site that could, had I known about it earlier, saved me at least a couple od hundred
