  1. Thanks for the tip on using the BiddingHelper.com tool. I will be sure to use it in the futire for a full list of amenities. I ended up booking 4* Westminster - Victoria - Big Ben through your HOTWIRE link and it turned out to be Dolphin House as predicted. Total price: DKK 3198.
  2. Thanks for your reply. When searching for your guesses on hotels.com and bookings.com I actually get the same rates as proposed through Hotwire. The Hotwire rates lure you in but when their fee is added it is less of good deal. Looking at a neighboring area do you have a guess as to which hotel this might be? 4* Chelsea - Knightsbridge - Harrods 90 % recommended - $123/night - Tripadvisor 4.5/5 Complimentary: Free Internet Amenities: Business center, Fitness center, Indoor pool(s), Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Self-service laundry, Smoke-free rooms
  3. I am looking at three hotels in Westminster-Victoria-Big Ben area. Which could they be? 1. 3* - 85 % recommended - $80/night - Tripadvisor 4/5 Complimentary: Free Internet Amenities: Restaurant(s)Self-service laundry Accessibility: Accessible path of travel, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower 2. 3.5* - 80 % recommended - $93/night - Tripadvisor 4/5 Complimentary: Free Internet Amenities. Business center, Smoke-free rooms 3. 4* - 80 % recommended - $115/night - Tripadvisor 4/5 Complimentary: Free Internet Amenities. Business center, Fitness center, Indoor pool(s), Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Self-service laundry, Smoke-free rooms Thanks!
  4. Had first tried for a 4* but since I wouldn't go over $100 I tried for a 3.5* instead. Bid $92 and was told my offered would be accepted if I raised my bid by $22. Instead I added free zone Charleston Southern University and raised bid to $95. My bid was accepted. Thanks to the Priceline pinned list I was pretty certain which hotels I would be getting. Very happy to get the Francis Marion. Betterbiding is always so helpful. I always check it before submitting my Priceline bids. The calendar is a great feature although it didn't have any information for this trip.
  5. Bid $58 for 3.5* in Dupont Circle, WH Downtown and GT Foggy Bottom. Bid rejected. Added free bid Mount Vernon and raised bid to $61. Accepted. The calendar of wins was a great help in determining where to start my bidding. Used PRICELINE.COM link
  6. Used PRICELINE link to make purchase. 1st bid $50 WH 2nd bid $55 WH + DC SUB NA (free re-bid zone) 3rd bid $60 WH + MV (free re-bid zone) - rejected but would be accepted if I raised my bid to $77 4th bid $65 WH + DC SUB NA + MV - ACCEPTED
  7. Bid on 3.5* Bethesda-South Rockville hotel 11/15-11/19/08 on PRICELINE using the 2 free re-bid zones Camp Springs and Laurel. 1st bid B-SR $50 rejected 2nd bid B-SR+CS $55 rejected 3rd bid B-SR+L $60 accepted DOUBLETREE HOTEL BETHESDA I'm very satisfied to have gotten the Doubletree as it's fairly close to both Medical Center and Bethesda metro station.
  8. You're right. The deal is gone now. I searched for 1 room, 1 adult. HOTWIRE doesn't seem to be offering anything competitive so I'm going to use PRICELINE. I'll be sure to use the PRICELINE link and I'll post the result afterwards. Thanks again for a great site!
  9. Found a 3* Bethesda-Silver Spring hotel on HOTWIRE that looks a close match to the Crowne Plaza Hotel Silver Spring. No other 3* hotels seem to have been identified for the area. If it is the Crowne Plaza it looks like a fair deal for those dates. Want to try to confirm hotel ID before I try my luck on PRICELINE. Crowne Plaza amenities as listed on Betterbidding: Restaurant(s) - Fitness center - pool - business center - laundry - golf nearby HOTWIRE listed amenities: Fitness center - pool(s) - restaurant(s) - business center - laundry facilities - high-speed internet access So the odd ones out are golf nearby and high-speed internet access (although Crowne Plaza lists this on their own site) Also, HOTWIRE doesn't list any Tripadvisor info although the Crowne Plaza is rated 3.5 out of 5 based on 32 reviews. Should I read anything into that?
  10. Amenities: fitness center, restaurant, business center, high speed internet. I'm staying 6 nights in NYC in total but chose to split up my reservations between two MTE hotels to get better deal on HOTWIRE (10/27-10/31 3.5* NYC (MTE) Millennium Un Plaza $182).
  11. Thanks to posts on Betterbidding and the Tripadvisor info on HOTWIRE I was pretty confident I would get the Millennium Un Plaza - and I did! Amenities: Fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, high speed internet, tennis nearby. I tried using the HOTWIRE link but for some reason I couldn't make the reservation online because my credit card kept getting rejected so I had to make my reservation over the phone. I checked my credit card details with my bank but they said my card was fine and that I had entered the correct information and that HOTWIRE was distorting the data when they transmitted it to get the credit card verified. HOTWIRE didn't admit to any problems on the site and maybe it was just me experiencing problems but I thought I'd mention it in case anybody else was having problems. Should say my credit card is non-US.
  12. The dates for my trip changed and I ended up only needing a Lincoln, NE hotel for 8/30. I put in several bids through PRICELINE for a 3* hotel which I was pretty sure would be the Marriott Cornhusker judging from other threads. I went up to $100 and then stopped not wanting to up go any further for a hotel I wasn't sure would be as nice or centrally located as the Cornhusker. I ended up staying with friends and didn't make a booking through either HOTWIRE or PRICELINE.
  13. Sorry for not finished the thread sooner. I ended up with a not very good deal but it was the day before my trip and I had to stay somewhere - plus it was my first time using PRICELINE so I wasn't as savvy as I'd like to think I am now. Used PRICELINE and got 3* Doubletree Washington on Rhode Island Avenue for $175. Location was great - within walking distance to Georgetown and Dupont Circle and really close to White House. Hotel a little run down maybe but definitely no mice like some of the reviews said on Tripadvisor.
  14. Bid in increments of $5 ($106, 111 etc - started on $86). Will be my first trip to SF so worth spending a bit extra on a nice hotel. Reviews mostly favorable.
  15. Amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Laundry facilities. I'm hoping it's either the Cornhusker Marriott or Embassy Suites. Looks like same hotel (same amenities anyway) for all of the following dates but the price differs: Aug 25- 26 $59 Aug 26-27 $69 Aug 25-27 $73
  16. I'm looking for a 3*-4* hotel 3.1.-3.5. in Dupont Circle or Georgetown (would consider WH). Found this 3* in georgetown at $199. Seems a little expensive based on the Tripadvisor feedback. Any more info most welcome!! Amenities: -Fitness center -Restaurant(s) -Laundry -Pool -Biz Center -High speed internet Tripadvisor + 20 reviews. 3 out of 5
  17. Thanks for the reply. The Four Points doesn't look too exciting and the reviews in TripAdvisor weren't exactly overwhelming so I think I'll hold out a little longer and see whether something better comes along. I'll be sure to use the HOTWIRE link for any purchases.

  19. Hi - my first posting but I've many of the threads and topics. Great stuff! I found a 3* hotel in White House - Capitol Hill just now for $83 (58% saving) for 3/1/2008-3/5/2008. I hope someone can help identify it for me. Amenities: Pool, restaurant and laundry facilities. I looked at an old post from October '07 naming a hotel with the same amenities as the Four Points Sheraton. However, when I look at Four Points' own website their prices are much higher than what Hotwire is naming as the normal price ($200). Which hotel could it be?
