  1. Great deal. This is probably the lowest I have seen this particular HI, normally it can be had for about $38-40 on PRICELINE. There is another Holiday Inn in the Raleigh 3-star block however, and that is the Holiday Inn-Brownstone....next to NCSU. This one can be had for $35 almost all the time and I have even won it for $32 on occasion.
  2. if its Raleigh $32 for 2.5 that is the Homestead on Appliance Court. If it is for the Airport and has the same amenities as the first, then I am pretty sure it is one of the Extended Stay Deluxe's that are on S. Miami Blvd. There are 2 within less than a mile of each other because one used to be the Weslley and was converted to ESD and the other was ESA that was converted to ESD. Hope this helps.
  3. My stay was from Feb 29th-Mar 2nd. Great hotel, super price.
  4. I always start low, started around $60, was rejected after numerous bids and switching number of nights and adding zones which did not have 4* available. Finally succeeded at $100 bid. Cant beat that, this is a great hotel. This bid was for Friday check in and Sunday checkout however and probably why the rate was so low. Attempted to rebook on Monday going as high as $150 and no such luck. 5. Not sure if this has been mentioned here but I would just like to share my experience. I have booked a room on Hotwire, for instance, the Hilton. I may have paid $60 for it including tax and fees. During check in I ask could I upgrade my room. the staff makes me aware that an upgrade is available, and I will have to pay the difference between the room types. So many times I have stayed at hotels like this, where the room type was say $179 for the night and the concierge level was $200 on the same night. I pay the $20 difference and end up on the concierge level for $80 total. I am sure someone has mentioned this, but I think it is a cool tip. I also use my HHonors number, Hyatt Gold #, etc whenever booking for more points on stays.
  6. Sorry if this has been mentioned already, if it has, let me reiterate. Priceline pays the hotel a flat fee with their Priceline credit card, the same as Hotwire. I spoke to one hotel GM (Extended Stay Deluxe) and he told me that Hotwire paid him $40 per room. On Hotwire I always got that hotel for $39 plus tax/fees which on the average is about $8-10. On Priceline, I was usually able to get it for $25 plus tax/fees. So obviously Priceline pays him less. In some cases, some GMs have told me that Hotwire/Priceline's flat rate for a room from them was more than what the hotel was offered for online, so how does that work? Do they take a loss in some cases to make more in the long run? p.s. in regards to bidding higher in hopes for a better hotel in the same zone, I have done it a few times and have been successful, but....another important thing is to always check the hotel list for whats available and at what price.
  7. the Doubletree RTP is one of my favorites of all time. I was aiming for it today. I havent stayed there in a while because I always get the Wyndham-RTP (which is very nice) for $40 on Priceline regularly. I set my stay for 2 nights and looked in the list to see the prices for those dates (Mar 28th-1st). The Doubletree was $99 and the Radisson was $99. I usually get the Radisson for $52 on PL. So I started the bid at $62 and it gave me the Radisson. Does anyone have an optimum target price for the Doubletree if the Radisson is the same list price? Also, this happens to me in N. Raleigh now where I can never get the Residence Inn-Navaho Dr. I used to get it but now the Hilton is always so cheap, so if you book for a 2.5 on a night where the Hyatt Place is around $179 and the Courtyard is $139, eventhough the Hilton may list at $179 plus, it bumps you up from 2.5 star to 3 star. The Residence Inn-Navaho Dr is one of my all time favs because it has everything, full kitchen, fireplace, loveseat, smoking rooms, free wireless or wired internet, laundry. It has everything. Can anyone help with this? While the Homewood-Cary is easily available on PL, the Homewood-Crabtree has been elusive for some time now.
  8. 1st time bid of $62 was excepted for the Radisson-RTP. Was aiming for Doubletree.
  9. this is a hard hotel to get now because I have not figured out the margin between this and the Hyatt, which is right across the street. A bid on 2.5* between say $38 and $45 will get the Hyatt, sometimes if you go higher it will automatically give the Hilton, which is 3-star. I like the Residence because they have a more "homey feel". Apartment style, fireplaces, free internet, kitchen. Just like a home.
  10. When I am visiting and staying in the RTP area, I get the Wyndam a lot for $40 bid doing 3 star in RDU/RTP area on PL. One of my favorite hotels.
