  4. Bid on this area knowing 3* choice would get me this hotel. Bid accepted on first try. Typical Holiday Inn in great area for shopping. Nightclub adjacent to the hotel was a fun perk.
  5. Bid accepted first try. Great hotel for the price, especially on a weekend night.
  6. Needed a last minute room downtown. Even though there is a large convention going on, I opted to start my bidding low for a 4* hotel because there are so many options for rebidding zones in St. Louis. Started at $45, rejected, $47 rejected, $50 rejected, $60 rejected, $70 bid rejected but offered to guarantee a room for an additional $12...knew I had one more rebidding zone, so I raised my bid to $75...accepted! The Hilton is a very nice property even at this price!
  7. Needing a hotel night for early flight Saturday Morning. Bid $45 for a 3.5*. First bid rejected, came back with the offer to guarantee a room if i raised my bid $8. Since I had the option of 5 rebidding zones, I opted to try again with a bid of $47 by adding a zone. Accepted. This is a very nice hotel for that price.
  8. I started my bid at $45...it was rejected and Priceline offered to let me rebid if I added $8. I declined and rebid $46 by adding another zone and won the Hyatt at the Arch. This is a very nice property for that price.
  9. Started bidding for a 4* downtown @ $45, rejected. Bid 3 more times using free re-bid zones...up to $50 and rejected. Because we are already spending a good amount of money for theater tickets, I really didn't want to go over $50 for a hotel room. Added Forest Park/Clayton zone and also added 3.5* and rebid at $48. Won the Crowne Plaza downtown. We've stayed at this hotel numerous times. It's a great value for the $. Right across the street from the Hyatt at the Arch and the Hilton. Very nice views of the Arch. We always ask for a room on an upper floor which gives awesome views of the city and the Arch.
  10. Just won this bid as follows: Millenium Park/Loop 4* first bid $75...rejected Added North Michigan/River North bid $80....rejected Added Franklin Park bid $85...rejected Added Lincoln Park bid $90...accepted The Hilton is a 4* property on South Michigan Avenue. The lowest price I found on their website was $269 per night. I am very happy with the deal I got! Sorry for the misspell in the topic...couldn't figure out how to edit it!
  11. Started bid at $50...denied. Passed on their offer to bid again if I raised my bid $10. Added North Miami zone as it's highest hotel rating is 2. Rebid at $52 and won!
  12. First bid 3* $45 declined. Given the option to raise the bid $10....declined and added another zone that did not offer a 3* property. Rebid at $48 and won the bid. Great rate for this hotel in this area...free parking is a big plus!
  13. $43...March 26-27, 2010...been here a few times. Nice hotel, great location for food & entertainment within walking distance of the hotel.
  14. Boutique Hotel Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-Speed Internet Golf nearby Tennis nearby Spa service available $144...$171 total w/Hotwire fees This is a great price for this hotel! Hotel is a true 4.5* property located in a very nice area in the city. Booked through the HOTWIRE link on this site.
  15. The Cubs are in town for baseball starting the 18th...that will keep hotel prices up for that night which is probably why you are being denied for the 2 nights. In my experience, the 3.5* hotels in downtown St. Louis are very nice hotels. I would drop my bid back and add the 3.5* as an additional option. However, I would not recommend a 3* as some of the 3* properties downtown are in dire need of uppdates!
  16. Won the $54 bid after serveral zone changes. It's easy to get a downtown St. Louis 4* location because most of the other zones do not offer 4* hotels. Started at $45..$47...$50...finally won at $54. Definitely a great value for this hotel! The location is perfect for what we were looking for. Booked through PRICELINE link from this site!
  17. First bid accepted. Nice hotel for the price. Very satisfied.
  18. It's a great hotel...easy walking distance to the stadium! If your willing to stay on one of the top floors you'll have a great view as well.
  19. Well, I think you have to be reasonable. The hotels pretty much have a fixed bottom line price as far as I understand...so starting a bid at a $1.00 would be a pretty useless effort. You can generally get a 4* downtown for $45...but that's as low as I've ever seen. The 3.5* properties are nice and comparable to the 4*'s...but don't go any lower, there are some real stinkers at 3*. Parking is always a fee...usually anywhere from $10 - $14.
  20. Bid won on first bid. Last minute desicion to stay downtown. Arrived by Metrolink and had to walk 5 or 6 blocks to the hotel in a wintery mix of snow/rain/wind. I was early and didn't expect to get a room but they checked me in at 11:30 AM and gave me a room on the top floor (29th) overlooking the Arch and the Old Courthouse & Busch Stadium. It was a VERY nice room for the price! I also ate at the restaurant and it was excellent...The hotel is in a great location for dining & shopping in St. Louis.
  21. This hotel is located within the Westport Plaza dining/entertainment complex. Very satisfied to have won the bid on the first bid attempt. It's listed on your list as a 3* so I guess Priceline has found reason to raise it another 1/2 point!
  22. After a few days of trying to get a hotel in the Magmile/RiverNorth area for around $100 at 4* - 2.5* properties, with no luck, I decided to stick with the tried and true. Seeing that the Palmer House was consistently accepting low bids, I added the Loop and got it on the first try with a $90 bid. I probably should have started lower... :) , but the Palmer House is a classic and in my opinion a great bargain at $90!
  23. Thanks for the feedback. I guess my reasoning in the lower star property is the possibility of getting free internet, a refrigerator/microwave, breakfast, etc. I usually do go for the 4 star and have stayed at several 4 star properties, including the Palmer House, Hyatt on Wacker, Intercontinental. We also have stayed at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza and the Silversmith which are quite acceptable 3 star hotels. I was leaning towards the Magmile/Rivernorth area simply because we've been in the Loop for our last several trips to the city. The Tremont is definitely what's holding me back on just placing a bid for the 2.5 star in MM/RN...I'm familiar with the other properties and they are very nice and in good locations. I checked the Tremonts' website for reservations during my dates, and there was no availability. Do you think that would make a difference if I placed a bid through Priceline, or do they automatically hold a quota for Priceline? Thanks!
  24. I would like to bid for a hotel in downtown Chicago for 10/24-27/08. I prefer the amenities offered at the 2.5* hotels listed but would be alright with a 3*. I would prefer the Mag mile/River North area. Priceline is showing a 2.5 star in the Loop, but it isn't on your list yet, so I'm not sure what that would be. Any ideas? I'd like to keep the price as close to $100 per night as possible. Any advice/suggestions on a bidding strategy I should use? Thanks!
  25. Bid $55 on 4* Downtown St. Louis 9/12 - 9/13, 2008. Winning bid first bid, Hyatt Regency Union Station. Very satisfied. Hotel is convenient and beautiful. Very relaxing evening stay. Within walking distance to a variety of restaurants and the Metro Link public transportation station is right in the parking lot of the Union Station complex. This also makes it very convenient for getting to other areas of the city and the airport. Booked through PRICELINE / HOTWIRE forum link.
