  1. Thanks for the help. I got valentin imperial maya for $238/ni and I used the bidding helper site and the HOTWIRE link, i don't remember which i used to purchase bc i had both pulled up at the same time (wanted to double check everything!) but i know i used through one of those direct links.
  2. Thank you - will keep you updated and use that HOTWIRE link when I'm ready. Any insight into either silversands or valentin? Been to silversands, loved it. Wondering about valentin.
  3. Do you think this one is the Valentin? I am having a really hard time doing this on my own using the hotel lists. Would appreciate any help!
  5. I ended up not using hotwire for those dates.
  6. As an update, I did not go through priceline for that trip. Thanks!
  7. Thank you. I will be sure to use the links and post an update, not going to try for a few more days.
  8. 1 Nigh stay - check in march 1 check out march 2, 2014. Thanks!
  9. Needing a 1 night stay March 1 in Downtown Dallas. Prefer 4* and up. Whats the best way to go about this, and when to start?
  10. Thank you! I purchased that hotel and it was indeed Secrets Silversands for $203 per night. I also used the link you provided.
  11. Hi. I plan on booking this tonight using the link you provided, one other question. After booking, is it recommended to call the property to confirm the reservation and request a specific room type (king bed - don't care about the level of the room, just the bed).
  12. I think this is Secrets Silversands, but am not sure. Could you help me ID it? 9/2/13-9/7/13 Riviera Cancun - Puerto Morelos area all-inclusive hotel $203/night Ammenities: Resort Free Parking Suite Beachfront Property Food and Beverages Included Premium Brand Beverages Included A la Carte Dining Options Water Sports/Ocean Activities Included Evening Entertainment Included Daily Activities Included Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking All-Inclusive It also says under know before you go: Adult Exclusive Thanks!

  14. I won! Thanks for the bidding strategy! We are staying at the Hilton Post Oak (near the Galleria), and we won for $56 (before tax). Now...what's next? Do I call the hotel to confirm, and when should I call? When or how will I know what type of room I get? Can I request a "king non smoking" now or am I supposed to wait until check in?
  15. Thank you! I would like to try for 3.5 star and 4 star as well to get the best hotel possible. How would that fit into the bidding strategy?
  16. You are right--looks like I'll need to be in the 50-60 dollar range. I don't mind trying 3 star if it is galleria area, but west may be a bit too out of the way for my needs. Of course the higher the rating the better, but I won't be TOO picky. Could you help me with a bidding strategy with $60 as the max? Thanks!
  17. I am headed to Houston for the night of 2/13 (friday). It has been about a year since I've used Priceline and I need a bidding strategy. I absolutely want to stay in the Galleria area, but would be okay with the West area if the price was right. I do not want to spend more than 40 dollars before tax. Is this do-able, and could I please have a bidding strategy? And I would prefer 3 star or higher. Thanks!
  18. Just WON! My 1st priceline experience, and I was so close to giving up. Got Millenium Broadway 4/21-4/26 (yes, all 5 nights) for $215/night making it a total of $1266. That saves me almost $300 PLUS I get to stay at one place the whole time. What should I know about this hotel, and what do I need to do next? Call the hotel to confirm my room or what??!?!?
  19. Just to update...we are now exactly 2 weeks from our trip. We have decided to add another ni ght on, making the trip from 4/21-4/26. I have tried every week since my last post to bid, today was sort of our last chance, as we want to finalize our itineray soon. So, I bid up to $240, using the strategy, for MTE, MTS, TS, MTW, UM-CPS. Did not win. We have back up for $250/night at the Washington Square hotel for teh 1st two nights, and the grand hyatt at 289 for 2 nights, and 267 for friday night. I know i can split bids, but if we aren't saving more than $100 total, then I don't think it's worth it-our goal would be to save more than $100 than we are paying now, and to stay all at one place. If you have any suggestions, please let me know--i hope this isn't a sign that i will never win at priceline ever. haha.
  20. I think this might be the Empire but I am not sure..wanted to get other opinions: New York City Central Park Area for 4/21-4/26 $239 per night Ammenities: Boutique, Resturant, Fitness, High Speed Internet Also, Any idea what this one may be? 3.5* Midtown Central (same dates) $235 per night Ammenities: Fitness, Business, Resturant, high speed internet
  21. Just wanted to update and say that I booked two back ups, with the hope of acquring a last minute great priceline bid. We have the Washington Square Hotel booked for a deluxe queen room for $250 per ngiht for 4/21-4/23, and the Grand Hyatt for $289 for 4/23-4/25. Do you know anythigna bout the washington square hotel? I booked it b/c it was one of their nicest rooms within our budget, and i hear the area is fun for young people (my husband and i are both 25). And, i think staying in grenwhich village, and then switching to mte will be a neat change. But, both hotels are cancell-able until 48 horus before check in in case i find anything better. Thanks for all the help!
  22. Just need to get the 1st two nights of my trip booked and then I am all set. Here are the properties I'm looking at, and I've been checking Hotwire daily for the last few weeks, and this has been the lowest so I'm considering goign to for it For Dates 4/21-4/23: 1) 4 star hotel in central park area ammenities: Boutique, Fitness, Resturant, High Speed Internet $265 per night 2) 4 star in times square Ammenities: Boutique, Fitness, Internet $292 per night 3) 4 star hotel in Midtown South Ammenities: Complimentary Breakfast, Resturant, Business Center, High Speed Internet $ 289 per night 4) 3.5 star hotel in MTE Ammenities: Fitness center, resturant, internet, pool, business center, tennis nearby $259 per night 5) 3.5 star hotel in Midtown Central Ammenities: Fitness, Resturant, Internet, Business Center Can anyone help me identify those? And do you think the price differnece in the 3.5 versus 4 star makes it worth staying at a 3.5, especially depending on which hotels they are? Which would you pick? Thanks!!
  23. Sorry it took me so long to reply. I'm having trouble accessing Hotwire right now for some reason, but it was a 4 star hotel, appeared to be (after checking the list on this site), the millenium UN for $252/night 4/21-4/23. I haven't made a priceline bid in about a week. I"m getting nervous that we won't find a 4 star within our budget, and I do not really want to go down to a 3 star. Are there any 3 star hotels you can recommend that are similar to some of the 4 stars? (we're looking I guess for clean, comfortable rooms, private bath, room service, good customer service, as this is our anniversary trip). I'll keep trying (not sure how much longer we can wait..)but we are very close to giving up on NYC entirely and doing something different that gives us more for the money. Am I just being too anxious and will we find something within our budget eventually (maybe even a 4 star)?
