  1. I applied first for the 4* at $41.00 as previously won in Florida Downtown and lost. I opened all zones, up to 3 stars and asked for $42 and lost. I then included 2 stars and jumped the price to $50 which was then accepted.
  2. OMG! Now I understand why the Caribana Carnival committee is always complaining they make no money while the rest of the city makes money off of them by spiking their rates!...$239/night?!...that's ridiculous! :) Ok...so I changed the date to only one night, August 1 - 2nd and the rate showed $197/night. So, what's the cheapest rate I can possibly get from this and how do I get it? :)
  3. Would like to get the 3* Residence Inn through PRICELINE rather than HOTWIRE for a cheaper rate. I have lots of time since the dates won't be till July 31 to August 2 2009. I notice no one has bid on a 3* in a long while. Normally, this hotel sells for $129/night. Previous wins went from $45 to $77. 3*Radisson Admiral Harbourfront Hotel would be my 2nd choice. How do I get the Residence Inn at the cheapest rate? Also, how do I re-bid the same day? If you don't mind please, step-by-step instructions. Also don't worry, I will be using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin my travel purchases. :)
  4. Wow! Thereuare, the re-bidding process seems more complicated than I thought for a newbie! lol Tried again on Jan 6th. I didn't bother this time with the 4*. Went ahead and only requested 2.5* in Buckhead. Got accepted on 1st bid of $40 and received Springhill Suites Buckhead. The other 2.5* that is often given by Priceline is Courtyard Buckhead which I would have also been happy with since it is often compared to a 3*. Anywhere in Buckhead is great since this is one of the nicest places in Atlanta, very posh and supposedly great for shopping compared to downtown ATL. Springhill Suites Buckhead does not have many reviews since it is new (built in 2005). Amenities Great for a budget hotel with indoor pool, exercise room with tv monitors, complimentary breakfast, mini-fridge, microwave, 1 sofabed, non-smoking hotel (like all Marriotts), and free internet access. The hotel also has a free shuttle service within a 2 mile radius which is available daily between 7 am and 9:30pm. Since I will be downtown everyday at the Georgia Congress Centre, I will be using the shuttle to take me to the MARTA. Paid $40 x 5 nights + tax = $238.38 Regular price for 5 nights (2 queen beds) including tax = $845.25 I called immediately after the bid and requested a room as high as possible with a great view. They seemed very friendly and confirmed I am already booked with two queen beds (which costs more than the standard Kingsize bed). Thanks so much Thereuare! And just to note again, I did it through savingsbarn.com! :)
  5. Right...which is why I went from 4* to 2.5*. I didn't want to try the other star levels because I don't want the other hotels being offered on those levels. And, I don't want to change my zone area cause I only want to be in Buckhead.
  6. Thanks Thereuare! I put in for 4* just to see if it would accept my offer. I know I'm underbidding. Then it offers me a second bid and that's when I request for 2.5*. Is that what you mean by re-bidding zones? I only want the Buckhead location. I see ATL Buckhead has gone between $36 to $48. The hotel I really want is Springhill Suites Buckhead. So, maximum I would want to pay for 2.5* level is $45. Does that sound ok?
  7. Attempted today Jan 4th @ 8 p.m with Priceline and offered 4* Buckhead at $46 and 2.5* at $36. I did it through savingsbarn.com. Would love to get JW Marriot (4*) or Springhill Suites (2.5*). Wonder if it makes a difference if I place my bid in the morning?
