  1. Sorry my wife booked this for a change. I asked her to send me a screen shot. You have helped me in the past and I wanted to share the win for the community. 3. Complimentary Free breakfast Business center Fitness center Indoor pool(s) Smoke-free rooms Accessibility In-room accessibility 100% Recommended I booked this the same day. I didn't eat the breakfast but the coffee was good. HBO on the TV and decent (free) wifi. It was a nice property and well worth the total cost after taxes ($69).
  4. I read the reviews on the La Quinta and they were a mixed bag. Since my wife is traveling with me and I wanted to stay someplace nicer, I ended up booking a hotel directly with Marriott using my corporate rate. Thanks again for your help!
  5. 2 adults no children 3* is now $63 3.5* is $150 Thanks for the info...I'll check the LaQuinta out. if I purchase, I will definitely use your PRICELINE / HOTWIRE links and close the loop with you on what it was.

  7. I didn't see anything that fit these on the hotel lists: 3* in Cary - Apex - Raleigh SW area Free parking, free breakfast, free internet, pet friendly, fitness center, pools, business center, self-service laundry 85% recommended on hotwire 4.5 out of 5 on Tripadvisor 3.5* in Cary - Apex - Raleigh SW area boutique hotel Free parking, free breakfast, free internet, pet friendly, boutique hotel, airport shuttle, fitness center, pools, business center Still gathering reviews on hotwire 4.5 out of 5 on Tripadvisor Thanks!
  8. My wife and I were headed to San Fran for the weekend. We never have been there so we wanted to stay right near Union Square in a nice 4*+ hotel. I have been checking for a week...the prices for the hotels this weekend were very high and many hotels were booked. The prices for this weekend at some hotels (12/5) were more than 2x what they were the following weekend (12/12). An example, when I checked last night: The Mark Hopkins Intl was $699 a night this weekend...next weekend $276/night. I thought about bidding on a 4* but with the trip Friday, I wanted something booked. I went to PRICELINE EXPRESS last night and saw: 4* Union Square East- Nob Hill Pets, restaurant, gym, and business center. Guest rating 8+ Guest Favorite $383/night It looked like it was the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental or the Westin St Francis. Either would be fine...the Mark Hopkins has better reviews but the Westin was right at Union Square. It was the Westin St Francis. I used your 10%/$100 off coupon to get the price down to just under $350 a night. Thanks! Current rate on the starwood site for the Westin SF was $466 for the same room (queen). Not the greatest rate...but the best I can do for this weekend and still more than $100/ night cheaper than anything else I saw direct from the hotels. Thanks for the info and the great service you provide.
  9. Thanks for the info. I ended up booking a hotel directly and got a decent rate. Steve
  10. Hi, I used your link to check Priceline.Express. I need two beds and I see some say bed choice available. I saw this hotel: 7/26-7/26 Empire State Building $173 4 *'s Pets, Restaurant, Fitness, Free internet, Business "bed choice available" Guest rating 8.0. Guest Favorite I didn't see it listed in the Priceline.Express hotel listing with the amenties. A number of 4*'s in the PRICELINE. If it says bed choice, will they guarantee a room with two beds if I contact them immediately after booking? Thanks
  11. @vespass- Glad my review helped you find the Distrikt. Its a really nice Boutique hotel that is a not too big. It doesn't have a lot of extras like a gym or pool but it does everything else very well. We would have preferred to be more toward Chelsea but the hotel is worth the extra subway stops. One other tip...go on Facebook and become a fan of Distrikt Hotel. Post a message on their wall that you are excited on staying there coming from Sweden. They have upgraded people to higher floors, etc. Not sure they do free upgrades for hotwire bookings...but it's worth a shot. I didn't know about Facebook since we booked the morning we arrived...but we just called them and they upgraded us from Queen to King with no problems/charge. Have fun in NYC, Steve
  12. This is a new non-smoking property opened in February 2010 on W 40th Street between 8th and 9th (Hell's Kitchen). This hotel should really be considered the Times Square area and not MSG and Chelsea. It is 2 blocks from Times square and 6 from MSG and 15 blocks from Chelsea. Hotwire has a funny way of doing zones in NYC. We had a king bed and its a really nice (and size) room. The bed is one of the best we have ever slept in a hotel. Bathroom is spotless with a decent sized shower with glass doors. Flat screen LG LCD with all HD stations including HBO and HBO2. Free wireless in the room (slow) and safe in the room that fits a laptop easily. Mini bar with usual 3.25 sodas and 6.50 beers. 31 floors...only 5 rooms per floor. Small bar in the back behind the lobby that we did not go to. Four iMacs in the lobby with large screens free to use. Free iced tea and coffee in the lobby depending on time of day. We spoke to the front desk and they said they just went on Hotwire...and would fix the icon issue. They should at least have the Boutique and Internet icon. No pool or fitness center but they give you free passes to a local club (we did not use due to all the walking). If coming in from the Lincoln Tunnel, hotel is a minute from there. Self parking is only $24 a day next door which a good deal for the area. Only negative is the area...the hotel is in a string of four new hotels in a row that face the side of the Port Authority (bus terminal). Fortunately you don't see the busses go in and out on this side. It's safe to walk around. Subway is only a block away at port authority. Very short walk to Times Square so the location is not all bad. Very happy with this room for $179. If you can snag this one at a good price...grab it. Nice place! Other stuff: Cheap pizza on the corner called 2 brothers...$1 slices. Not nearly the best NY pizza...but its definitely worth (more than) $1. Another one around the corner called 99 cents fresh pizza http://www.yelp.com/biz/99-cents-fresh-pizza-new-york Saw some cops there eating, figured it was ok, so we had a slice. Not bad for a cheap eat and it was $1 a slice and not $3. Hotel suggested Westway Diner for breakfast http://maps.google.com/maps/place?cid=2563...=12&iwloc=A Looked in and saw 8 cops eating in there...so figured it must be ok. Low prices...decent food. Ate dinner outside at Dos Caminos in the Meat Packing distict. Food was good..great Tequila list. Server was friendly. http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&r...ved=0CBoQnwIwAQ Steve
  13. I booked it and its Distrikt Hotel New York City http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g6...y_New_York.html A little up for chelsea but the reviews are good. I'll reply again with feedback. BTW- I close out the other threads with the hotel I actually book to add to the community (like I did above). Didn't realize I was supposed to close threads in which I don't book. Steve
  14. 2 nights starting Fri, Jul 30 There are no amenities listed. Never saw that before. 100% recommended 4.5 rating tripadvisor $179 Any semi-educated guesses? Thanks Steve
  15. Anyone know what hotels these are: Lynbrook - Rockville Centre - Freeport Hotel 3* Comp Breakfast, laundry, high speed internet Lynbrook - Rockville Centre - Freeport Hotel 2* fitness, pool, restaurant, laundry, high speed internet Is the 3* maybe the Holiday Inn Express on Sunrise Hwy? Thanks Steve
  16. I wasn't enthusiastic about winning this but it turned out ok. It is a clean room in a safe area. Drove by the Fairfield and that looks nice also. Extended Stay is walking distance to more places...as Fairfield is near junk yards. Fairfield does have a shuttle if you are taking the 7 line into Manhattan. Here is a review I posted. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g4...g_New_York.html
  17. $60/ night for 3 nights 12/26-12-29 I just bid on this yesterday. I was hoping it was the Fairfield but this will do. Can't complain about the price ($233.16) total after taxes.
  18. Thanks for the help Aaron. I had booked the Fairfield near Whitestone area through marriot as a backup for $466 total. The hotel list was showing fairfield in that zone as the 2* hotel. I tried to get a better price and bid $60 in that zone on priceline. Unfortunately, I did not get the Fairfield. I got: Extended Stay America Efficiency Studios Whitestone, NY Hotel Oh well, the area is less industrial than the fairfield but I would have preferred the other one. Never stayed at an Extended Stay but the outside doesn't look 1/2 bad... http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&q=...456828567611564 Positive is I got the 3 nights for $233 (exactly half the price of the fairfield). I dont think I could ask for much more in NYC area (besides winning the fairfield for $60 :) Thanks again...
  19. Do you know what these are in LGA? I did not see any 2 or 2.5 stars on the hotwire list. $79 2.5-star hotel in LaGuardia Airport LGA - Flushing Area ( Airport Shuttle Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center High-speed Internet Access ) Holiday Inn Express??? $89 2-star hotel in LaGuardia Airport LGA - Flushing Area (breakfast, internet) As a backup plan, I booked the Fairfield Inn New York LaGuardia Airport/Flushing using my corporate rate of $134 (saved $15). I see some people have gotten it on Priceline for $60-65 (2 star in Flushing Whitestone). That hotel does not appear to be on Hotwire. might try priceline if I can't ID these two above. Thanks again. Steve
  20. Thanks for the quick reply Aaron. I'll take a look at those options. That 3* in Garden City is intriguing...just figured it was LaQuinta (which was sort of far away from my folks anyway). If you suspect the 2.5 in Lynbook is the Holiday Inn Express, then I would be only saving about $8 a night from booking via Orbitz. That seems like a decent (close) option based on reviews. Thanks again.
  21. My folks live in between JFK and LGA and I need a hotel for 2 nights starting 12/26. Either JFK or a town nearby (Garden City, etc) is fine. LGA as a last option. Garden City 3* $126 suite, breakfast, business, laundry, internet, golf, kitchenette Is this La Quinta Inn and Suites?? $149 rate on Hotels.com Lynbrook - Rockville Centre - Freeport There is a 2.5 star and 2 star. Nothing on the list for this area. Any ideas what these are? JFK area I see a 3 * in JFK for $117 with complimentary breakfast and fitness. nothing matches on the hotel list. Closest match is: 3* Holiday Inn Express Amenities: Shuttle, Fitness, Complimentary Breakfast, Hi-Speed Internet, Laundry Any idea what hotel this is?? LGA area - would prefer the other areas...I ID'd these already as a backup plan 3.5 LGA $122 shuttle, fitness, pool, restaurant, business, laundry, internet. Looks like this is the Crowne Plaza. 3 star looks like La Guardia Airport Hotel $69. Great price but the reviews are mixed. Thanks!
  22. i'll have to look for that email since I booked recently.
