  1. Summary of my bids today (25 January 2010) for one night stay (2/06/10 to 2/07/10): 4* Montreal $60 - rejected but hit with add $17 to secure this bid so I knew I was close 4* Montreal, Laval $61 - rejected (closed browser) 4* Montreal, Longueuil $62 - rejected (closed browser) 4* Montreal, Pt. Claire $63 - rejected (closed browser) 4* Montreal, Laval, Longueuil $64 - rejected (closed browser) 4* Montreal, Laval, Pt. Claire $65 - rejected (closed browser) 4* Montreal, Longueuil, Pt. Claire $66 - rejected 4* Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, Pt. Claire $68 - accepted I was a bit surprised that it took my last bid to secure the win after they countered with add $17 straight away but I'm satisfied with the price. I've never stayed at the Montreal Hyatt Regency. It doesn't get stellar reviews on tripadvisor but for $68 it can't be all that bad, right? As always I used your PRICELINE link to begin my purchase. Thank you once again to the board and its members for the invaluable advice.
  2. Oh yes, I forgot to mention, I did use the PRICELINE link for this purchase.
  3. I had been trying for a few days to secure a room via priceline for an upcoming event in March. I finally hit today on my final free re-bid zone at $71. Started at $55 and inched up $2 at a time to $67 and then one dollar at a time up to $71. Not the best deal I've ever made on priceline for a 4* in Toronto but I'm still satisfied. I always quite enjoy staying at the Sheraton Centre. Due to PRICELINE it's become like my home away from home in Toronto. Thanks once again to the board. You guys rock!
  4. I'm very happy to hear that, Andrew and it's certainly my pleasure. I know it can be a bit daunting to bid do a PRICELINE bid on a city that you are not familiar with. I find this board has helped me immensely as well so I'm just doing my part to pay it forward. Enjoy your time in Canada!
  5. I've never encountered any resort fee in any of my PRICELINE bookings. Certainly not for Toronto hotels. We like to tax a lot here in Canada though! But you'll find out more about that when you pay us a visit.
  6. I thought I'd address this for you, Andrew. The Sheraton Centre is in the south zone. I've stayed in quite a number of Toronto hotels. The Sheraton Centre is one of my favourites due to the enormous size of the facility and the accompanying amenities that one might find at such a large hotel. I find it conveniently located for most touristy things in Toronto as it's right in the heart of downtown and on the subway line as well. I would not worry though if you do not happen to win the Sheraton Centre as there are lots of nice 4* hotels in Toronto. Out of the rest my favourite are the Hilton, which is right across the street from the Sheraton Centre and the historic King Edward. I'm not an expert by any means but I've quite often won Toronto priceline hotels in the 60s range so I figure your $70 budget would be very do-able. When I'm booking so far in advance (as you are) I try to get myself a really wicked deal in the 50s. Like i'll start at $50 and inch up a dollar at a time. There are many rebid zones in Toronto and if I don't win immediately, I'd try again in the next few days. I wouldn't worry so much about either winning the downtown north or downtown south zone as everything in downtown is just a stop or two away on the subway and as mentioned there are many fine 4* hotels in Toronto. Hope this helped!
  7. Today I started bidding at $55. Inched my way up in $1 intervals by adding non-4* (and Downtown North) regions and eventually hit at $60 for a 5 night stay. $300 + $51.15 (taxes & fees). I'm quite happy with the results as I've stayed at the Sheraton Centre before and I believe this is one of the best bargains I've ever received on PRICELINE. Thank you once again for the invaluable support of the board and its contributors. I did my little part by using the PRICELINE link supplied.
  8. Started the bidding at $45 and inched my way up to $55, finally hitting on the Sheraton Centre. I'm quite happy with the results as I've always had nice stays at this hotel before. Total Room Cost for two nights (including taxes & fees): $132.98 (USD) which works out to about $153.55 Canadian with today's exchange rate. Thank you once again to the board and board members for this great resource. I used the PRICELINE link supplied here to do my bidding.
  9. I'm not sure if this will calm your fears but I stayed at the King Edward through a PRICELINE booking not too long ago and was very pleased with my stay. The hotel dates from the turn of the century and has a lot of charm to it. The common areas are stunning and the room they put me in was truly enormous! Hopefully you will have as nice a stay as I did. And for the price I'm sure you will.
  10. I tried for 2 days starting at $40 and inching up $1 at a time while adding non-4* zones. I hit today at $45! I figured I'd get something in the 40s as the Sheraton Centre seems to be going for $54 on HOTWIRE on the same dates. Used the PRICELINE link supplied here. Thank you again for maintaining such a wonderful site!
  11. That looks like the Sheraton to me, Mick. I've had the pleasure of staying there a few times and would highly recommend it.
  12. First off I must apologize as I forgot to use your HOTWIRE link to make this purchase ... *sad face*. Anyway, I just booked the Delta Chelsea for $59 from 05 December to 07 December 2008. 3.5-star hotel in Downtown Toronto East with the following amenities: Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access and Children's Activity Program. Next time I'll be sure to use your HOTWIRE link but I thought the board members might like to know of my purchase nonetheless.
  13. Bid $35 today on a 3 night stay in the airport area at the 2.5* level having a feeling I'd get the Courtyard Mississauga-Airport Corporate Centre West without any fuss. First bid was successful. I look forward to returning there in a few weeks. Used the PRICELINE link for my successful booking. Thanks again for all the board's help! Thanks!
  14. Bid today and won on the first bid at $47 (+14.10 taxes and service fees). Quick and easy thanks to the previous Ottawa Priceline posts. Was hoping for the Extended Stay Deluxe but ... oh well. Still a fantastic deal! Used the board's PRICELINE link. Thanks again to the board and contributing members.
  15. Thank you. Yes, I was quite happy with my win and win the stay. I really should have done a bit of research first though as I now see that Priceline bids were successful for $47. Oh well, I am still satisfied as they put me in a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen and balcony. I would certainly welcome staying there again. But next time I'll be sure to try my luck with PRICELINE.
  16. Used the HOTWIRE link on this site to book a one night stay at the Extended Stay Deluxe Ottawa-Downtown for $68 (+14.28 tax recovery charges and fees) from 01Aug08-02Aug08. It's been getting some good reviews lately so I'm anxious to see for myself. It certainly seems loaded with amenities! This Hotel features the following amenities: Suite Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Thank you again for the invaluable info I've received on this board. :)
  17. I helped my mom and dad book a room for their anniversary. Having no previous knowledge of Syracuse I turned to your line for advice. We were very pleased to hit at $50 on the first try. I'm sure I'm their hero now. Of course, it's all because of this line. Thanks again for all the wonderful advice. We used the PRICELINE link from this site.
  18. A very wise decision, Soozy! Having stayed at both the Residence Inn and Sutton Place, there is truly no comparison. Although the Sutton Place is rated as 4* and the Residence Inn as 3*, I'd certainly pay a premium to stay at the Residence Inn. And you got it for a couple of bucks less! Good job. I'm very confident you will enjoy your stay.
  19. It looks to me like one of the Inter-Continentals. It would depend on the amenities. Please see below for your match: Toronto (Downtown) 4.5* Inter-Continental Toronto Centre (on Front St) (previously 4*) WEST Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa (VP currently showing Spa) (w/o Spa same as Inter-Continental on Bloor St) or Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness (just the two above is latest report, but VP still shows full list previously) or Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness, Spa, Business 4.5* Hotel Inter-Continental Toronto Yorkville (on Bloor St) (previously 4*) WEST Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business (same as Inter-Continental on Front St)
  20. Well, I don't consider myself an expert or anything but having stayed at both the downtown Toronto Hilton and the Rennaisance (attached to Rogers Centre), they are both a steal at $64. As you most likely know, if you bid 4* on Priceline it's really a crapshoot as to which hotel will jump up. Lately it seems like the Marriot Bloor-Yorkville has been popping up. I've also stayed there. Nice hotel but not really a 4* in my opinion. In fact, not too long ago Priceline had it rated at 3*. To sum up, you may save a few bucks on Priceline but you might be better off to go with the Hotwire deal in this case. But if you were to choose to go ahead with Priceline then $50 would be a reasonable starting point. I see there was a 4* win at $56 not too long back. And it was the Marriot Bloor-Yorkville. Ooops ... just saw that the Sheraton was won for $60 on Priceline. Also a super hotel and a super deal.
  21. This hotel is truly fantastic! I'm sure those that win this hotel with a similar bid will be quite satisfied. Very stylish room. Modern furnishings with flat screen tv. And I'm sure I've never enjoyed a solo shower as much as their rainforest-like shower head. Fantastic! The hotel is also convenient in location to so many things and right on the line for the skytrain. I had a chance to dine in their restaurant a couple of times and was very happy with the meal as well. Now if only the weather had co-operated. My my my ... it certainly does like to rain in Vancouver!
  22. As a follow-up, I wasn't much impressed by The Sutton Place. Everything there feels or is old. And the service left a lot to be desired. But on the positive side the public areas are quite impressive. I'd recommend it to those that are wowed by such things. And I'm still satisified that I only paid $71/night.
  23. I certainly give it a thumbs up as well. The room was fantastic and felt more spacious than many downtown hotels. Plus the staff there was very courteous and helpful when called upon. And it's really not that far from downtown if you rent a car, which I did also from PRICELINE.com at $10/day ... wow! Free parking as well. And the hotel is quite convenient to the airportl. Thanks again to the board for their part in the wonderful deal I was able to make on this fine hotel. I still can't believe I only paid $33/night. I'd certainly relish the opportunity to stay there again.
  24. Thank you, dahammer. Yes, I'm certainly happy with the deal I made. But just to clarify, the hotel is a 2 1/2 star and not a 3 star. I don't seem to have the ability to correct that in the title.
