  1. Not sure why our Hotwire "win" did not post on calendar of wins, as I used the link here on betterbidding..but, I did want to share that we were able to book the Doubletree in Chicago (michigan ave/river north area) for $108/night for 3 nights over Thanksgiving. The Calendar of Wins option has been giving me trouble for months, but, could be operator error with me! Doubletree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile 300 E. Ohio St., Chicago, IL, 60611 3.5-star Hotel in Magnificent Mile Area - River North This Hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) High-Speed Internet Access Business Center
  2. Yes, same dates, and based on what we see here on the board, it is likely the Doubletree. In going to other booking sites, have learned that while the rates for the room are not much higher...$119, $129...by the time you add the taxes and fees, going through Hotwire is still a better deal, saving almost $100, We will post our win when we make the commitment. thank you.

  4. thanks, AaronJB, for your thoughts and suggestions. Such a great site, this Betterbidding! I will switch to HOTWIRE I think. I have a new question, so need to go to a new area to ask. Thank you thank you. jm
  5. Plan on checking in on Wed 11/21/2012 and checking out Sat 11/24/2012. PRICELINE and your Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins tool, I find it tough to fork out more than a hundred bucks for a 4*!! However, our recent stay at the Fairmont for $122 was an overall awesome experience!!
  6. Is there a reason to wait on bidding for Thanksgiving Hotels in the North Michigan or Loop/Millenium Park areas? We have always gone for the 4* and had happy results, but prices seem higher nowadays so am thinking I might want to drop down a star level or two, but want to play with the prices offered for a bit, as I don't know what to offer.
  7. regarding the "offer to stay an extra night" option...I was not aware that this option was offered if not available. Is that true? Part of my bidding strategy has been to just bid for one night, (In the event I want a diffent hotel for another night) and add the additional night at the same accepted price if I like the hotel. I have always been happy with the hotel in Chicago, so this has worked great, but, after reading your post, am wondering if I could be taking big chances at not getting the hotel for another night? As and FYI, we used the PRICELINE link here, and were able to get two rooms (with additional night option for both) at the Fairmont last weekend which was Air Show weekend. Our bid for $120 was accepted after a few attempts. Don't rule out the Loop/Millenium Park area. We really liked the location.
  8. wow. thanks for that info. I will follow up on the best price guarantee...never had to consider that route in the past! Great site, as always.
  9. Used the PRICELINE link to secure lodging for a three night stay for $60 a night check in 7/29. When bidding, it said $168 was the average 2* cost, which seemed outrageous and I ignored it. Put in $60, and it was accepted. Waterfront Inn. There are rooms advertised for less, as in $1 less on line at hotel website. We have always, always always had absolutely fabulous experiences with Priceline Hotels. Worried about this one, however. Family run, so hoping it is a good family! Is it possible Priceline would punish me for bidding low and give us a really poor option? It certainly is not a Holiday Inn express or baymont. Just wondering and feeling a bit sad that the price I put in was no deal. Will just have to do more research next time!
  10. My husband and I stayed at this hotel, at 139/night in November 2008...a high dollar time due to conferences. The hotel is jsut fine, and the rooms are great. Maybe small, but wonderful beds. If you are in Las Vegas long enough to complain about your room, you need to re-evaluate your travel plans. Anyhow, the small casino is actually quite nice, no one gets lost. Starbucks in hotel was nice. We did not eat at hotel. Ate at Batistas, and the cute old guy still plays the accordian. Walked pretty much everywhere. Bally's, across the street, had some good bands. Bills Saloon had some awesome waitresses. We walked to Fashion Show mall, but took a $12 cab back to the hotel. Also bought a monorail pass for the day, but did not get out money's worth as we ended up walking most the day. If you get the westin, you will not be disappointed. It is clean, lovely and smells awesome. THe walk to the "main drag" casinos is fine if you have no mobility issues. If you are in an amigo type deal, that would not be a problem. If you are on crutches, it may be more of a hassle. The hotel itself was very accomodating.
  11. $89 bid rejected, $93 bid accepted :) Whoop! Whoop! We paid the same amount last year for Gaylord Palms and would have been happy with that too, but it is always fun to try different hotels. Used the link and appreciate seeing other posts. I knew I was "going to get lucky," as the resort hotels have been popping up on the forums. Now I can get through an upcoming snowstorm knowing I have a lazy river to look forward to in the Spring!!
  12. I was able to get the Residence Inn for 50 bucks on my first try for 12/27/08, one night. I did use the BB PRICELINE link, and I thank you for the info on the site. I am encouraging family members to try their luck at a slightly less amount.
  13. Hi, thanks if you can help identify 3.5* Disney Main Gate/Celebration resort fitness center pool restaurant business center laundry hi speed internet tennis nearby 3 circles out of 5 on Trip Advisor based on 380 reviews. going for $52/night thank you again. JMc
  14. yelllowdog My family has stayed there on two occasions. Your price is awesome. The Hilton has an excellent location and is an easy drive to the parks if you do not want to use their transportation. You can walk over to Downtown Disney and use the park buses there, I think for more options, but maybe another reader can clarify that. I have been fortunate to stay at Gaylord Palms and the Dolphin using Priceline Resort level, and could not put the Hilton in their resort class, BUT, for the price you are paying, you are avoiding the additional resort and parking fees that were about $30 when we were there this past spring. Good for you! I think we paid around $100 or so a night when we stayed at the Hilton and it was still worth that amount in my opinion. Have a great trip.
  15. Bid for $139 accepted, along with $5.00 reward money at Westin Casuarina. It is Las Vegas Strip South location. While the cost seems high to me, compared to Chicago rates I have gotten in the past, I have never bid on a Las Vegas hotel. I heard that November is a conference month, so getting 4 days in there, including a week end, is likely an okay deal. I had been bidding for a couple of weeks and not getting anything except the $180 alternative on the 5* bids. I see the Mandaly Bay is going for about $30 more a night, but, we just did not want to go that high for a short trip. I was glad to read that the reward money could be accessed using the better bidding PRICELINE link. Thanks for that info.
  16. this winning bid shows up on the "calendar of wins" for several days in the March/April 2009 option. It looks to be a glitch, but, thought I would note it, in case it is an error and can be fixed. thanks.
  17. A spa was an additional amenity (sp). Truly not trying to argue, but, I thought when I search the second time, it did not show up. However at that time, I had also put in for two rooms, so will try to do that again. thanks. Used your PRICELINE link to try for my rental, will keep on tryin'. Thanks.
  18. hey there, There.. I rreran but it is gone. Have not used HOTWIRE so am not sure, do they disappear that quickly? If so, maybe I had better not share so much info next time!! ie. dates, cause someone may have grabbed it. Oh well, lots of time left. I have not PRICELINE a car on this site...can I PRICELINE cars, or just hotels? No hurry, I can search around and see if I can answer that myself. thanks

  20. Forgot to add the dates.... I said three nights, but, my husband reminded me that it was two...we are staying a third night in one of the west Chicago suburbs, but I have not priclined those. Anyhow, our dates for the 4* Palmer House Hilton are August 7th and 8th, 2008.
  21. have used the PRICELINE link here at Betterbidding...thanks, by the way, for the site and info it yields!! over a period of three or four days, was rejected for all amounts in the NMRNA and MPLGP that were under $90. last night I bid $89 for 4* North Michigan area and was declined, so added Millenium Park/Loop/Grant Part and bid $94 for a 4* and we were able to get three nights at the Palmer House Hilton. We have stayed there in the past and enjoyed the architecture and character of the building, not to mention the mai tais at Trader Vics downstairs! Thanks, BetterBidding.....Go Blue!
  22. HI, I have been using the betterbidding PRICELINE link along with the great tips to score a resort hotel for 3/31/09 to 04/09/09. We are hoping for two rooms and have stopped short of bidding more than $112 as we have so many months to keep trying. However, does anyone think that I am just being too stingy with my bidding? I can go higher, but we were able to get Gaylord Palms last spring for $93, so I figure with inflation and good luck, $112 is still a heck of a deal... that is, if I get the rooms. Do hotels put in rooms monthly? Yearly? Weekly? The whole priceline gig is fascinating to me, and we always are thrilled, but now, I am getting more curious as to how the hotels and priceline make this thing work? Thanks for any thoughts.
  23. We stayed at the Gaylord Palms March 27- April 3, getting a Priceline deal of $93. Add in $30/day for self park and resort fee, I thought it was still a nice deal for $123/ night. Originally we valet parked, but, our room was closer to the self park so we switched. Likely saved ourselves quite a bit of money in valet tips going that route! We traveled as a family on a vacation and were fortunate to be in the Key West section of the resort, which is near the family pool. There are lots of big conventions going on, and we seemed to be away from the bulk of that activity. The last thing I want to see when I am on vacation is a bunch of folks in suits plugged into their laptops, blackberrys, and cell phones with their name tags around their neck. Atrium was spectactular, but, I had stayed at the one in Nashville, and sort of knew what to expect. The pool was ope 24 hours and heated quite nicely the first time in. They have just opened a splash park, complete with extra cold water that kids love, and that was fun for younger kids. I thought the rooms were generous in size, and thougth the housekeeping was above average. Computer in room was nice to be able to stay on top of work and home emails, and is part of resort fee. There is a nice sized mini frig, too, in the room, so you can go to the nearby grocery store and buy some food to keep your costs down. Getting to Disney Parks was a breeze..great signage. I always got lost on the way home, but, never was too far off. We hope to someday score this place again. Good luck.
