Staying one night post cruise in Ft Lauderdale. My winning strategy of checking hotels and identifying them on Hotwire first before undercutting that price on Priceline came through again! Looked at prices in Downtown, Airport and Beach on Hotwire. Noticed that 4* Downtown was available for $89 and identified that here as the Renaissance. Went to Priceline via Savingsbarn link and bid as follows: $50 rejected rebid $55 rejected rebid $60 rejected rebid $65 rejected rebid $70 rejected rebid $75 accepted! Absolutely thrilled with this as hotel costs $199 on their site. I can't say enough how much this site has helped me (and saved me $!). -Laura.

My apologies! I was unsure whether or not I should split up my questions since one related to Priceline and one related to Hotwire. Conferred with the husband and we decided we would try for the ESA since it was significantly cheaper for that evening, in the right zone and we would only be there for a short while pre-cruise. Decided to try my luck with Priceline to secure a cheaper price via Savingsbarn link. Tried 2* Downtown bid $37, rejected. Received counteroffer to bid $10 more. Cut that in half and rebid $42 and was successful for Extended Stay America Fort Lauderdale-Convention Center-Marina. Dec/15 - Dec/16! Thanks for all the help! Staying pre-cruise December 15th for one night and looking for something cheap. Have mostly exhausted our preferred areas for prices $55-80 on Priceline for 2.5* or above so just checking all of our options. Our absolute maximum bid would likely be around $85-90. Since we are arriving in FLL around 9pm and plan to head to the port the next morning, we would be willing to sacrifice quality of hotel for a lower price (future plans to try the 2.5* in FLL area if no luck with 3*) and would prefer to spend under $75 if at all possible. Our preference is Airport, only because of the possibility of getting a shuttle to/from airport and to/from port, but I know the Downtown area is close to both as well, so we have no problem with winning a hotel in that area as well if we can get a great price which would make up for the cab fare. First attempt at Priceline (EVER) - Nov. 20th Saw a lot of successful attempts at the FLL Airport area for $55 at the Sheraton and was hoping for that.
