Thanks for your advice. I would have taken you up on that except - well I learned that I should try to avoid bidding when I am tired and haven't written everything out! The bottom line is that I mistakenly added Miami Airport on a rebid and successfully got a 4* in that area. Looks like a nice hotel which is close to the airport. Will use the price difference for cab fare or a car rental! The bid was 175, 185, 195 -and 195 was successful. I tried the same pattern as above, except with the following bids: 135, 145, 155, 165, 175 - 135, 150, 160, 170, 185 - 185, 195, 205, 215, 225. Still no luck. I guess there's a fairly high demand in that period of time.
We will be staying post cruise for 3 nights in Miami. We would prefer South Beach or Miami Beach 4*. Would consider Coral Gables, Downtown, or North Miami Beach but prefer not to rent a car. Could we still easily get around, see the beaches etc. from these other locations? Thanks.

Thanks for that. That was a typo on my part - what I was adding was Miami Lakes, not Coral Gables. I see how that strategy works - very helpful. I followed your suggestion to the letter but was not successful.
1. Visited the Getty Centre in Los Angeles. Wonderful views. Wonderful art. Free except for the parking. 2. Would love the helicopter tour in New York City. By the way, I just discovered Viator last week and have already used it once to book something. An excellent site.
This is my first post as that was my first bid. Nervewracking! I started with a bid of $75 for a 4* South Beach (February 2008) and used the strategy of adding zones without a 4*. Added Dadeland, Miami Gables, North Miami and Southwest Miami. Last bid there was $110. Then I added Miami Beach and bid $115 and was not successful. Will keep trying!
