  1. Here's my review from last week. I posted this in the hotel review section. Radisson Hotel Review
  2. I bid 3* for the Radisson Hotel DFW airport. The hotel is 5 stories. It has a nice atrium and pool adjacent to the lobby. There is a lobby bar with free drinks between 5 and 7pm. Free computer available in the business center. Free coffee in the lobby in the morning. My room was at the end of the hallway. I opened the door to reveal a hugh room. How hugh? I measured the main part of the room as 14x18. That s 252 sq feet, not counting the entrance foyer, kitchen area, and bathroom (which was on the small size). There was a chaise lounge adjacent to the bed. This room was B I G. For $42, it was one of the larger non-suite rooms I've occupied. The room decor was warm and inviting, with a taste of southwest style. Nice new bedding and the sweet sleeper bed. That's where you get to adjust the mattress. Some like it, but I thought it was a toy! Good pillows and bedding. I slept well. I'd even pay the regualr rate it was so impressive. They don't give you Goldpoints on Priceline stays. The room was 4 star all the way. For once, priceline got this wrong!
  3. Check out Hotel Reviews for my thoughts on this property. <loved it.
  4. Alamo lets you pick any car on the lot in your car category. They had a Chrysler Vibe available and I took it. I drove this car last year and loved it.
  5. I started bidding at $15 for a midweek car rental. It seems that cheap car rentals are not available during the week. Only weekends. After I exhausted my bids, I tried again 3 days later. I bid from Ecomony all the way to full size, and bid as high as $29. Nothing was accepted. Finally, I bid $31 for a midsize car and my bid was accepted by Alamo. Your Offer Price: $31.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 2 days(1 days and 5 hours) Subtotal: $62.00 Taxes and Fees: $41.53 Total Charges: $103.53 A roundtrip taxi would have been less expensive once you include the taxes.
  6. I started at the Market Center for 3* and $37. Added DFW North at $39. Added Downtown at $41. Accepted 3* $42. Radisson Hotel Dfw South 3-star Dfw Airport South 4600 W Airport Freeway Irving, Texas 75062 972-513-0800 Amenities: Remote control TV w/ premium channels Radio Alarm Clock Business services Telephone w/ voicemail Iron and ironing board Hairdryer 24 hour front desk Restaurant Room service Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $42.00 Subtotal: $42.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.37 Total Charges*: $55.37
  7. $32. at the Adams Mark? Is that correct? Or is that winning bid a mis-post?
  8. Just got back from a 5 night stay. The hotel is located on the waterfront, overlooking the Willamette River. If you're lucky, you'll get a room overlooking the snow-capped Mt Hood, and the river. Somewhere along the line, this property must have been renovated. Nicely decorated room with plasma tv. The bathroom was on the small side, but well done. The hotel uses scented soap. Bring your own if it's a problem. Front desk staff was aces. Very helpful. Internet access in the business center $5.95 for 15 minutes. Head to the library (10-15 minute walk) for free access. Hotel has an indoor pool. Free in-room coffee and hair dryer. Free on-street overnight parking from 7:00 pm till 8 the next morning. After that, feed the meter. This hotel is a solid 10 minute walk from where the 'action' is. In Manhattan that's not a problem. In Portland, it wasn't really that big a deal once you get use to it! A Starbucks is 5 minutes away. Most of what you might consider the 'standard' Pacific NW type of coffeehouses were a 10 minute walk. The hotel is located in the 'fareless' downtown district. It's free to ride. When you leave the free zone, it's on the honor system. Make sure you head to the Pearl, and the NW District (a few blocks from the Pearl). It's much more interesting than downtown. Local feel. Nice shops and plenty of food places to eat.
  9. I added each zone as I continued in the bidding process. First bid = downtown Second bid = downtown and SUNY. Final bid = added Albany airport to the above two.
  10. So predictable. :) First bid 3* $47 rejected for downtown. Second bid 2 1/2* $45 rejected for downtown and SUNY. Final bid 2* $43 accepted to one of my favorite Albany P/L hotels...the Hampton Inn on Wolf Road. They have a nice breakfast spread, and free access to a computer in the lobby. This property was renovated earlier this year. I'm anxious to see it. For my money, this hotel offers great value (and breakfast) for the money. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $43.00 Subtotal: $129.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $27.01 Total Charges*: $156.01
  11. The Four Points Darling Harbor (by Starwood) is a very nice hotel. It's roughly a 20 minute walk to the ferry terminals and the Sydney Opera House. FYI. The cost on July 28 - 30 is AUD180 or USD$150. You can check prices for your dates by using thereuares link above. :)
  12. I started the booking process earlier in the week at 3* $45 downtown Portland. Later in the week, I increased my bid to $49. Both rejected. Since I had the time, I took a wait and see attitude. Hotwire offered 3* at $69. :) Other online sites were reporting $55. :) Since I'm sharing a room with an old friend of mine, I decided to bid 3* downtown Portland at $53. No need to overpay. :o Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront Downtown Portland 1401 Sw Naito Parkway Portland, Oregon 97201 503-226-7600 Fri, Jun 8, 2007 - Wed, Jun 13, 2007 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $53.00 Subtotal: $265.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $44.21 Total Charges*: $309.21
  13. Picking up at 0025 Sat Jan 20. Drop off at 0500 Sun Jan 21. I'll have the car 1 day and 4 plus hours. Will pay for 2 full days. National Car Rental January 20 - January 21. Your Offer Price: $14.00 Total Rental Days: 2 Subtotal: $28.00 Taxes & Fees: $15.75 Total Charges: $43.75 Hotwire had cars for $19.95 After a hotel bid on P/L, they sent me a follow up e mail for a car @ $15. Went back to PL to bid. Started at $12, then $14 and got accepted. I saved a big $1 for the PL offer. I'm rich. :)
  14. FYI. This property has been completely renovated. The front desk clerk told me that with all the new competition in the area, they had to renovate. I've stayed here many times over the years and thought the hotel was fine. Now, it's even nicer!
  15. First bid 3* $47 rejected. Second bid 2 1/2* $47 rejected. Final bid 2* $45 accepted to one of my favorite Albany P/L hotels...the Hampton Inn on Wolf Road. They have a nice breakfast spread, and free access to a computer in the lobby. Your Offer Price: $45.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.77 Total Charges*: $58.77
  16. I just got this hotel for $46 for a 1 night stay January 5/6, 2007. I started at 3* and $44 hoping to get the Sheraton Suites. PL asked for $12 extra dollars to get that hotel. Instead, I re-bid and added 2 1/2* and upped my bid to $46. This hotel used to be the Sheraton Pentagon. I'm going to check Flyertalk.com to research how this new Marriott property is now. Tripadvisor wasn't really helpful.
  17. Avis gave me a Vibe. This car got 32 miles per gallon! Nice, smooth drivng car. The Vibe was a pleasant surprise vs the typical car you get for this category. dh
  18. Just wanted to wish you another happy birthday. Continued success on this wonderful website. :) Dan
  19. I did my research on Hotwire. Cars starting out at $16.95 a day. I then went to P/L and bid $11 for a compact car. I have time, so I bid low; but was unaccepted. My next re-bid was for an Economy car at $12. You know what happened next. :) Your Offer Price: $12.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 3 days Subtotal: $36.00 Taxes and Fees: $29.97 Total Charges: $65.97
  20. I added a night to the $25 la Quinta deal. :)
  21. Just a few days left before this offer expires. I booked one of my nights in Denver, and a second night in Rochester. I still have a few thousand points left. I may actually use the card to earn a few more points. :) If I were to use Priceline for a hotel stay, minimum cost is $50 a night. Redeeming my points saved me at least $100. :) PS. thereyouare, congrats on the story in the California press. Maybe you can provide a link. :o
  22. I did some research on Hotwire and saw cars starting at $18.95 for an economy car. Compact was $19.95 I low-balled at $15 and my bid was accepted by Avis. I probably could have saved a buck or 2. Total Charges to your Credit Card: Your Offer Price: $15.00 Total Rental Days: 3 Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes & Fees: $23.72 Total Charges: $68.72
