  1. Hi pmarsh, As an option, would you consider Jersey City? Just across the Hudson. I just stayed there and it is very convenient to the city (along with a GREAT view). I tried to get a hotel in the city and people suggested Jersey City to me. My bid of $105 was accepted at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City On The Hudson. You are right next to the PATH station. Good luck, Carl
  2. This stay is broke up into two parts. The funny thing is that the same hotel accepted both dates for the same price. This is a lot more than I usually pay for this area/star level, but it is Summer and SeaFair weekend! I used the PRICELINE line on this site.
  3. I've been bidding for a few weeks on Philly. Today, bid $90 and got the option to rebid if I increased by $22. Rejected that, added a rebid zone and bid $100 - accepted. Used your PRICELINE link. Carl
  4. I'll try to put this on the agenda! Thanks VERY much, Carl
  5. Thanks thereuare. Are there any restaurants or unusual sites you might recommend? We want to get by "Lombardi's Original Pizza". Also, see the Statue of Liberty, ground zero, Grand Central Station,... I'm not sure what else we have time for between games! Thanks Again, Carl
  6. This is the first time I booked a room for the same day. Airline delay.
  7. Sorry about the date mistake. Got the Hyatt Regency Jersey City On The Hudson! I'm not sure if I should post a new message or not, so I'll just give the details here. Bid $98 and received the "If you want to increase your bid by $22, you can rebid". I added a rebit zone and bid $105 instead. June 21 - 24 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $105.00 Travel Insurance: $15.00 Subtotal: $330.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $60.74 Total Charges*: $390.74 I thought I would select the insurance. This is the first time. I understand you need to be just about dead to use it! Forgot to mention, I used your link to PRICELINE. On to Boston and Philly!
  8. Hello All, I am planning a baseball/sightseeing trip to NYC on the above dates. My hopes for a bargain are dwindling as bidding continues. I
  9. Great price on the Hyatt Regency - Bellevue for a week night. I have stayed there many weekends for $70-$80, but could not get that price during the week. Maybe it was the difference of staying for just one night.
  10. First try. Good price, but I HATE getting a hotel on the first try! Always leaves you wondering if... Used BetterBidding PRICELINE link.
  11. Had to break these days out from a previous day and have one remaining day to bid. I tried the "extend your stay at the same price" for one more night and they offered a room for $256. I declined that offer! Used the PRICELINE link on BetterBidding.
  12. Thanks for the reply. I'll consentrate on midtown and see what the market bares. I'll update when there is any news.
  13. After looking at the handy "Calendar of wins", I see a 4* for $222 (MTE), and $230 (Times SQ.) and a 3* for 160 (UM-CPS). So I guess my question might be - is the $160 a good price? The airport area seems to be convenient to the ball fields (just looking at the map). And now I AM a bit concerned about the room size if we can't get a role away bed in the room! What area would people suggest? Your advice is appreciated, Carl
  14. Bid $60 downtown Asheville and received an offer to rebid if I went up $17. I rejected this and; added a rebid zone - bid $63 and was rejected; added a rebid zone - bid $64 and was rejected; added a rebid zone - bid $65 and was Accepted. $65 + 15.05 Taxes/fees for 80.05 total. Used PRICELINE link on BetterBidding.com
  15. We will be going to Philadelphia, NYC, Boston, and Cooperstown. I am trying to stay in the $100 range for each city. I understand NYC is more expensive, but would still like to stay under $110. I
  16. Hello All, I have enjoyed this forum and would like to ask for some advice. My son, a friend and I will be on a "baseball" tour in June. June 21 (check in) - June 24 (check out), we will be in NY for Yankees and Mets games. Is there an area someone would recommend? We will have free time each day and would like to sightsee. I did see where someone said NOT to stay by the airports if planning to do some sight seeing. That was where I was thinking of bidding! So, not being familiar with the city, what would be a recommendation? Thanks VERY much, Carl
  17. Thereuare, thanks for the tip on splitting the dates. I just had a bid accepted. $88 for 4* (Hyatt, Bellevue) 11/9 - 11/12 (Friday, Sat, Sun nights). I thought I was really on to something when it offered to extend my stay at the same price - BUT DIDN'T! I'll work on the other 2 nights now. Thanks again. It went like this... all for 11/9 - 11/12 $86 Bid 4* Bellevue - REJECTED $87 bid 4* Bellevue, and Lake Union (No 4* hotels in L.U.) - REJECTED $88 bid 4* Bellevue, and Lake Union, Renton (No 4* hotels in Renton) - ACCEPTED Just remembered, I forgot to use SavingsBarn.Com. I'll remember next time.
  18. Thanks very much for the reply. Yes, splitting my bid is an option. I read up on this, thanks to your link. Do you do your research via BetterChecker? I'll post again if anything is excepted.
  19. Hello All, I have bid successfully a few times, but now I'm trying to bid on a 4* hotel in Bellevue, WA for 11/9 - 11/14 (4 weeks in advance). I have tried $85, $88, and $90 for several days. Is this just too low or am I shooting for too far in the future (or both)? This is a great forum! Thanks for all the work you've put into it and your help. Carl
