  1. Happy to get this. Tried to add a night for the following night and was not successful. Regular rate for this Labor day night is $79, so about 50% off.
  2. Well, the 3* HI Express offered by Hotwire is the one in Metrotown in Burnaby. Definitely not the one on Hastings you want. I'd recommend you book at an unopaque channel to ensure you get what you want in this case.
  3. Thereuare, it does show Self Serve Laundry as an additional feature.
  4. Again it is my pleasure to report a new property in Whistler Canada. 3* (Whistler Main Village and Village North) Amenities: Condo, 2 Bedroom Suite, Fully-equipped Kitchen, Kitchenette, Pool(s), Daily Housekeeping, 24-hour Front Desk, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby Tantalus Resort Condominium Lodge 4200 Whistler Way Whistler, British Columbia V0N 1B4 Canada This hotel is managed by Delta Hotels of Canada. Regular rate for this 2 bedroom suite is Cdn $169 = US$140 I purchased through savingsbarn.com to support this site.
  5. $45 no $46 yes Doubletree Hotel San Jose 2050 Gateway Place San Jose, California 95110 408-453-4000 Your Offer Price: $46.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $46.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $12.32 Total Charges: $58.32 Apparently, the hotel is now rated as 4* in the San Jose zone. I'm happy since it's close to the airport.
  6. I don't think Priceline did anything wrong here. Since the hotel is well within their Vancouver zone, they don't have to offer a refund. While it's disappointing to get a less desirable hotel for your trip, that's one of the risks that we're all willing to take in order to save money with Priceline or Hotwire.
  7. Well, hotels in Sub and Siam Square areas have not come up that low for a long long time. You might have better luck start at $69 and move up.
  8. Based on my 4 Hotwire experiences, the hotels do charge Hotwire the GST as Hotwire sells directly to Canadians.
  9. I've stayed at more than 15 Canadian hotels booked through and I can for sure tell you that none charges Priceline the GST. I talked to several managers about this and they said that's one reason they don't really like dealing with Priceline reservations because it's a pain for their accounting dept. to deal with not charging GST for these cheap rooms. Also, Yes, Canadians who use through Priceline don't pay GST unless you identify yourself to the hotel as a Canadian and the hotel clerks specifically ask you to at check out. I really don't understand that fascination that other users on this board have regarding that Priceline is ripping them off the 7% .... Sorry for being so blunt.
  10. I've stayed at various properties booked through Priceline and I can say 100% for sure that all the hotels I've stayed at DO NOT charge Priceline the GST (which is 7%) across Canada. By the way, please don't be like a Priceline customer that I saw last year when she insisted the hotel to issue her a receipt showing full amount and the taxes so that she can claim a GST refund. She made quite a big fuss in the lobby and complained that the hotel is treating her worse by not issuing her a receipt because she booked through Priceline.
  11. The legal age in Canada varies from province to province. In British Columbia and Ontario, it's 19 and in Quebec is 18. If you're travelling to a province where legal age is 19, it's better to book the room in her name. Also, you'll need a valid credit card under her name at check in.
  12. I think this hotel was a former Hawthorne Inn, owned by Hyatt. Location is quite decent.
  13. Barrie, Ontario is a city 1.5 hour north of Toronto. The City/Zone is just Barrie. I've stayed in this Holiday Inn before and it's quite decent. It's a little old but well maintained.
  14. Isabel All Hotwire/Priceline rooms are for standard rooms. Fallsview rooms are considered premium rooms and you'll need to book directly with hotels to ensure you get these rooms. Weekends in Niagara Falls during the summer is very busy, hence you'll unlikely see any signficant discounts. I'd recommend you book the two week nights separately and try to bid them on Priceline just until you hit the Hotwire 4* price.
  15. Priceline mainly deals with the big American airlines. Most of the US-China flights are operated by United, and they only fly to Shanghai and Beijing. Hence zero chance to get a LAX-Hangzhou flight for cheap on PL. I'd recommend bidding for a LAX-Shanghai ticket. Try a $300 bid and see what it comes back. Then buy a separate Shanghai-Hangzhou. Otherwise, go to the oriental travel agents and ask them to price China Eastern and Air China.
  16. Relais Mercure Nice Californie 58 Avenue De La Californie Nice, France Your Offer Price: $65.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $65.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $12.52 Total Charges: $77.52 ----- Previous bids 4* rejected at $85 3* rejected at $75 2* rejected at $58 Waited 72 hours and bidded 2* at $65 .. accepted Direct rate from Mercure.com is 65 Euro for two people. Not sure if this includes taxes. Mercure.com is very confusing. Looking at the map, it looks like this hotel is actually not in Priceline's Nice city zone, but in the airport zone. Can anyone who knows the area confirm?
  17. Be sure to read all the restrictions on cheaptickets.com before you do it. A few things you should be beware of: - applies to only fares available to the general public; deeply discounted consolidator/wholesaler/group/student/senior tickets are excluded (of course include Priceline, Hotwire) - the total price at cheaptickets.com might be more expensive, but the base fare might be the same since they add some service charge - make sure the fare on the other website is actually bookable, not just displayed (sometimes people will enter their credit card details and when the other website tries to book, it comes back with an unavailable message) - generally I think cheaptickets.com compares the fare for the same booking class, not for different booking class (i.e. after you book your ticket say in full Y class on American, and subsequently American opens up a few cheap seats at N class, you won't qualify since cheaptickets.com book you at the lowest available fare at the time you book) Too many restrictions and I won't risk it to save a few bucks.
  18. You might have to go up a bit in price to around the $60-65 mark for the few week day nights. I think paying the extra $10 is worth it for the peace of mind of having your hotels confirmed. Also Toronto East is yet another rebid zone.
  19. I'm guessing it could be the Strathcona Hotel or could be the Clarion?
  20. This website is a scam. They bid on Priceline and sell you the room at higher price. Check their hotel list with the Priceline hotel list on this board and they are identical. Is there a clause that they cannot resell Priceline hotel rooms?
  21. Yes, first bid is $65 because according to other users' posts, they've gotten the Mercure La Defense based on a $65 bid.
  22. Also bidded for a friend. Got this hotel for the weekend and couldn't get anything for my friends up to $75 for the entire Paris on the Monday and Tuesday night. Very frustrating. Also, nothing bites up to $75 for Prague!!! Note: This Mercure came up as Libertel Paris La Defense on the bid page, however, when you go to accors.com, it is called Mercure La Defense Esplanade. Apparently another new hotel to your list. Mercure La Defense Esplanade 35 Cours Michelet Paris France
  23. Also bidded this for a friend. Bidded three days ago at $55 for 3* and was counteroffered. Today I decided to bid 4* at $58 and got the Top Hotel Alsterhof Berlin.
  24. Just bidded for my friend. Tried $60 three days ago and was rejected with counteroffer. Today I increased bid to $63 and was accepted by Munich Marriott. Best available rate is EUR$163=US$211, so she saved like 70%. Munich Marriott Berliner Strasse 93 Adding yet another new hotel for your list.
  25. Tried to get this for other nights in the week and it didn't work. Perhaps this low price is valid just for Sunday stays. $35 rejected .. $36 accepted by the Courtyard Toronto Vaughan. Again, it is my pleasure to add one more hotel to your list.
