  1. I just checked HOTWIRE with your parameters and it seems like a different hotel has been listed: Amenities: Resort Fitness Restaurant Internet Spa Smoke-Free Pool Business Golf Nearby Children's Activity $95/night 4 out of 5 tripadvisor traveler review rating This one is a match to the Gaylord Palms, which would be my best guess. I'm not sure which hotel has the amenities you listed. Double check HOTWIRE and see if you can verify what I am seeing. You also mention that a family member will be doing the same? Are you planning on booking two rooms, one under you and one under your family member? Because if you are, there is no guarantee that the same hotel will be available for both purchases.
  2. After searching through all the hotels in Merida on tripadvisor, I have narrowed it down to one that I think is a match. The Hyatt Regency Merida. I'll explain how I came to that conclusion to give you some confidence. I went on HOTWIRE and searched for your dates, and the 4* hotel that came up matched the amenities you listed. It also mentioned that it has a 3.5 out of 5 traveler review rating based on 20+ reviews, with the latest review in May. This is what I used to find the hotel: 1) I looked at all hotels in Merida on tripadvisor with a 3.5 out of 5 traveler review rating with more than 20 reviews. There were only 3 such hotels that fit this criteria. 2) I then looked to see if the last review for any of them was in May 2008. Only the Hyatt Regency had a review in May 2008. I am not familiar with the city so I cannot say if it is downtown or not. You can see a map of the hotel here: http://merida.regency.hyatt.com/hyatt/hote...rid_ca_map_0508 There is always a possibility that it could be another hotel, but this is my best guess. Use this HOTWIRE to start your purchase and let the board know the result. It would be a new hotel to add to the list.
  3. This one seems to be a match to the Holiday Inn. Searching on tripadvisor for hotels at Pittsburgh Airport, this was the only one that fit the traveller review rating stated by HOTWIRE with a 3.5 out of 5 rating based on 2 reviews (matches the 3.5 out of 5 based on 20+ reviews). The Marriott only has a 3 out of 5 rating based on 23 reviews. HOTWIRE lists the last review was July 2008, but on tripadvisor the last review was Sept 1, 2008, but the previous one before that was July 2008. I think this could just be some lag between the submitted review and the time it takes for HOTWIRE to update its system. The Marriott didn't even have a review in July. All the signs are pointing towards the Holiday Inn in my opinion, unless a brand new hotel was added, but I checked what I think are all the hotels in the Pittsburgh Airport area on tripadvisor. That would be my guess. Use this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase and let the board know the result.
  4. I'm Canadian and I've booked on PRICELINE several times and have not experienced any extra fees charged to my credit card. I should go and find this post.
  5. What are the dates of your stay? and are you referring to Philadelphia - City Centre East?
  6. This one matches the Hilton San Francisco. That would be my best guess. Use this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase and let the board know the result.
  7. Looking at the zone map for Providence on PRICELINE, Zone 4 - Providence Downtown encompasses the Convention Centre, and it's quite a large area. You could get any number of hotels within that zone. There is no way to guarantee which hotel you are going to get booking through PRICELINE. The zone map on HOTWIRE is similar for Downtown Providence, however, you may have a better chance at pinpointing the hotel. Checking right now on HOTWIRE, I see a 4* in th Downtown Providence zone for $159/night with the following amenities: Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Golf nearby Tennis nearby Tripadvisor traveler review rating of 3.5 out of 5 based on 80+ reviews This one seems to be a match to the Westin, which would be my best guess. Double check this as it might have changed. Use these HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
  8. Trip cancellation only covers you in the event of a medical/family emergency that causes you to be unable to go on your trip. You will have a hard time trying to cancel the hotel because you do not like the result. This is the greatest risk when you book through HOTWIRE and PRICELINE. You never know what you are going to get, and you can't cancel if you don't like what you get. It's also the reason why you can score really great deals. This comes directly from the HOTWIRE site: Please note: * Cancellations due to personal change of plans or preexisting conditions are not covered. * Hotel Protection coverage will be billed by Access America and is not included in Hotwire total trip cost. Any claims and questions will be processed by Access America. * Coverage is available to U.S. and Canadian residents only. * Important limitations apply, see Hotel Protection benefits, terms and conditions.
  9. It certainly may be possible, there was a win reported at $55 for a 3* in this district on this board not too long ago. But keep in mind that prices can change at any moment and just because someone else won a hotel at one price doesn't you will receive the same result another time. Take a look at this thread to get a better understanding of the bidding procedure: Bidding again before 24 hours. Let us know if you need any more help or to look over your bidding procedure. Use this PRICELINE line to start your purchase.
  10. I agree with you. This one looks to be the Hyatt Grand Cypress. That would be my best guess. Use this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase and let us know the result.
  11. I just checked Niagara Falls for your travel dates, and I am getting these amenities for a 4*: Smoke Free Pool Business Fitness Restaurant Hi-Speed (I'm assuming you are looking for Niagara Fall, ON and not Niagara Falls, NY) This one is a match to the Sheraton Fallsview, which would be my best guess. It's weird to see just those two amenities for any 4* hotel, let alone Niagara Falls. Double check this before you bid. Use this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase.
  12. Typically, you will get a better deal on PRICELINE than you will on HOTWIRE, which is likely for two reasons: 1) HOTWIRE lists amenities and review ratings which gives you a better chance on narrowing down which hotel it is. It's more of an educated guess. PRICELINE is completely a shot in the dark. 2) HOTWIRE allows you to book rooms for more than 2 people. This might be important for you and your kids. You could ask for 2 doubles, or a king, when you book through PRICELINE but it's not guaranteed. So then it comes down to risk. There really is no way to determine which hotel you are going to get on PRICELINE, so if you really like the Torrey Pines, you are better off booking directly. These are the hotels that this board has seen for San Diego on PRICELINE: California Priceline Hotel List, scroll down until you see San Diego. This will give you an idea of the hotels that you could get. The list is by no means definitive and there is always a chance you can get one that is not on the list. Similarly, this is the list for HOTWIRE: California Hotwire Hotel List. Again, hotels can be added at any time. Also, the Embassy Suites you mention would technically be in the same San Diego Coastal zone as Torrey Pines, and this zone does seem to cover a large area. There is always the risk that you might get a hotel that is not in your ideal location, even within this zone. There is also no way to guarantee that you will get the same hotel for each stay in San Diego. Is this a problem?
  13. A 3* for Panama City (Beach) hasn't yet been reported on this site, however there are several ways that we can try and narrow it down, but first we will need some more information: 1) Dates of your stay 2) # of rooms and guests 3) Amenities that are listed by HOTWIRE 4) tripadvisor traveler review rating, and # of ratings it is based on
  14. Since nothing has been reported on the board, it might be a good idea to go to PRICELINE and look at which hotels it offers the conventional way (not name-your-price). This will give you an idea of the hotels and star ratings that you may end up with if you decide to go with name your price. But it's not guaranteed that every hotel offering rooms the conventional way will offer rooms with Name-Your-Price. It looks like there are various 1-3* options in Cedar City. This is at least a place to start.
  15. It is strongly recommended that you read the following topics to get yourself up to speed on how PRICELINE works before you make a bid. Re-bidding before 24hours This will explain the bidding / re-bidding process and give you an idea of how to maximize your bidding. Please read and understand. Should I bid Early or Late There is no general consensus on whether it's better to bid earlier or later as hotel rooms can be added or taken away at any time, and the prices can change at any time. Hotels will continually adjust how many rooms they put up for sale on PRICELINE depending on their occupancy. One this is for certain though...Do not bid until your plans are confirmed. PRICELINE rooms are non-refundable and charged to your card once it has been booked. It's always better to understand exactly how PRICELINE works so that you don't erroneously bid and end up with a hotel in a location you did not want. If you need more clarification just let us know and we'll help steer you in the right direction.
  16. You are not guaranteed to get a room with a view on either PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. All they will guarantee you is a room, the type of room is up to the hotel. You can always call and ask the hotel directly once you have booked, but they are under no obligation to give you one of the rooms with a view, and they might not even be able to if there are none available. The 'suite' icon typically means that the room will likely have a kitchen (microwave, stove, fridge, etc) and does not signify that the room will include a good view. There is a possibility you can get a suite on the not-good-view side of the hotel. If you are open to having a room without a view, then you may score a good deal on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. But if you absolutely have to have a room with a view, then I would suggest booking through another site where you can book that type of room directly. Please be aware of this risk if booking through PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. Let us know if you need any additional info.
  17. I'll try and address your concerns: 1) About bidding too early: Please read this topic Should I bid Early or Late. Essentially there is no consensus as to whether bidding early or later helps get you a better rate as rooms can be added at any time and prices may change at any time as hotels adjust their prices according to their availability. But one this is for sure, do not book through either PRICELINE or HOTWIRE if your travel dates are not guaranteed as the rooms are non-refundable and are charged to your card the moment you book. 2) Personally, I have not seen a hotel room with just 1 double, maybe another person on this site can comment. But, I have been in a hotel room (4* in Chicago) with just 1 queen, which in my opinion is really not much different than a double. PRICELINE only guarantees you double occupancy, so you may get 2 doubles, or you may get a king, or you may get a queen, and you may even get 1 double. You can always phone the hotel and specifically ask for 2 doubles or a king once you book but they are under no obligation to accommodate you, and depending on availability they might not even be able to. If you need to guarantee space for more than 2 people HOTWIRE is probably a better route as you specify up front how many people will be in the room and you are guaranteed that the room will accommodate. However, this may be just a pull-out sofa or cot. Hopefully this helps you out a bit and let us know if you need any other information and use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to start your purchase. What are the dates of your stay?
  18. Please follow up on your last thread Baltimore Inner Harbor and let the board know what you decided, then we will help you out with this request. What are the dates of your stay in IAH?
  19. Checking on HOTWIRE, the hotel that you listed does not seem to be the one listed anymore. Right now HOTWIRE lists a 3.5* in the Mag Mile area as: Boutique, Business, Fitness, Internet, with a 3.5 out of 5 tripadvisor traveler rating based on 300+ reviews which seems to be a match to Hotel 71. That would be my best guess. I can't comment on the hotel that you previously saw, because it has fairly generic icons. If you were to see it again, I would suggest looking at the tripadvisor traveler review rating (if listed), and use that to help you match the hotel. Also, post the rating it on the board and we can take another look. To find out where the actual area of the zone, click on the 'see area map' button in the 'area' search box on the left of the screen. You'll see that the division between Mag Mile-Streeterville and Mag Mile North-Water Tower is about Erie St. Use this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase and let the board know the result.
  20. This one looks to be a match to the Sofitel. That would be my best guess. Use this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase and let the board know the results.
  21. Checking out some of the hotels around Whistler, the Pan Pacific seems to match the amenities listed on HOTWIRE quite well, and although we haven't seen this hotel listed with the Boutique icon on HOTWIRE, it is a boutique hotel. This could also be the Sundial Boutique Hotel which also fits the amenities listed. There is one amenity that could be the distinguisher, and that is the Smoke-Free icon. Going to tripadvisor and following the link to the amenities of each of these hotels, only the Sundial Boutique lists smoke-free in their amenity listing, and past wins on this site have not listed smoke-free as part of the amenities for the Pan Pacific. For this reason, my best assumption would be that this is the Sundial Boutique Hotel. That's my best guess. Maybe someone else would like to comment and possibly verify my assumption. Use this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase.
  22. There is one way to break this tie, and that is with the tripadvisor user review ratings. Checking this morning, HOTWIRE notes that this particular hotel has a tripadvisor user review rating of 3.5 out of 5 circles based on 260+ reviews. These are the user review ratings for the two hotels, Parc 55 and the Clift, directly from the tripadvisor site: Parc 55: 4 out of 5 based on 238 reviews Clift: 3.5 out of 5 based on 274 reviews The Clift matches the tripadvisor user review rating as listed on HOTWIRE better, so that would be my best guess. You will want to confirm this rating when you decide to book just in case HOTWIRE is now offering you a different hotel. Use this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase and let the board know the result.
  23. Please update your last thread Paris Louvre with what you ended up doing and then we'll help you out with this one.
  24. This one looks to be a match to the Inter-Continental Yorkville (on Bloor St.). That would be my best guess. Please use this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase and let the board know the result.
