  1. This was my 3rd try this weekend in trying to find an hotel in London. For this last bid, I put in $120 + $7.20 of bonus cash, which raised my bid to $127.20 per night. Paying attention to this board and the Hotwire board, I noticed there was a Hotwire 4* in Kensington-Earl's Court for $121 per night. Someone asked about the ID, and it was thought to be an Holiday Inn. So, going back to Priceline, I chose Kensington-Earl's Court, Westminister, and Notting Hill. It took awhile for the hotel to be confirmed, but I think this is a good deal, and the rooms are supposedly refurbished. And I'm in Region 1 for public transit. I'm definitely happy about that. I did use the PRICELINE link from this board. Thanks for all the postings made onto this board that helped me with my first trip to London.
  2. Thanks for the reminder on how to use bonus cash in conjunction with these links. It took me awhile to find how to do it, but hopefully my win is your win too, if I did it correctly. :)
  3. This was my 4th attempt in getting a good price for a one night hotel in London. It took me about a week, but after being rejected at $90, $95 & $107, I decided to use the Priceline cash e-mail I received this morning. Today I bid $116 + used $7 in Priceline cash, for a total of $123. I bid in areas #1,5,8&9. And got the Hilton Kensington. The reviews seem good, so I think I got a good deal.
  4. On 8/20 I bid $80 for a 4* in section #'s 5,6,13,14 & 16. Didn't win, so I tried to wait 24 hours, but I bid too early @ $85 for the same sections. So, I waited until today, and used everything the same, but bumped up my price to $95. And won. It seems like I got a very good deal.
  5. Used the PRICELINE link on this site and won the above. I started yesterday looking in the Downtown Los Angeles/Westwood/etc. area for 3* & 4* at $70 and $80 respectively. Bids rejected. Today, I thought I would do the 3* in Burbank only, and was accepted on the 1st try. The lowest price at the hotel on my dates was $129, pre-pay internet, so am happy with my bid. Hilton Los Angeles North/Glendale 100 West Glenoaks Blvd. Glendate, CA 91202 Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes: $16.12 Total: $86.12 Thanks for letting me do my research here before bidding again.
  6. Details on my win below: Millennium Broadway Hotel (Times Square) Dates are 11/9 to 11/12/07 I have been trying off and on since September, and decided to try one more time with the highest bid I was willing to go. My first try was at a 4* for $338 in MW only. When I tried to type in the first 3 I received a pop-up message saying that my bid might be rejected, but I stuck it in anyways. And viola, I got the Millennium. Price from their website shows a low of $459, so I am happy that I'm saving something. Hope this helps someone.
  7. Thank you for the information. I decided to use Priceline instead.
  8. The only reason I go to New York are to see the Broadway and off-Broadway shows. This trip I'm anticipating seeing 6 shows in 3 days, and probably a few more if there are any late night cabarets, etc. So yes, I'll be spending my entire time in the Times Square/Broadway area. Thanks for the help.
  9. I am looking for a room bigger than a closet and in the Theatre/Times Square area as that is where I am spending most of time. Has to be at least a 3*, but I refuse to stay at the Best Western President again. That was a nightmare! My current back-up is the Hilton Garden Times Square where the rate quoted for each night is approx. $386, $408, & $386 respectively for my dates. It's the Saturday that is weird, which makes me wonder what is going on in the city that weekend. It also looks like more people are starting to book hotels as what was available yesterday isn't what was available today. Hence, why I'm curious about these 2 hotels. Or, I could always go onto Priceline and bid $350 to $380 for a 4* and see what happens. Anyone have any other ideas?
  10. Anyone know what these 2 properties might be? Dates: 11/09/2007 to 11/12/2007 4* for $419 Times Square/Theatre District gym, restaurant, business, internet 3* for $363 Times Square/Theatre District gym, restaurant, internet Thank you very much. Sorry also if this has already been discussed.
  11. 3.5* in downtown St. Louis - Crowne Plaza St. Louis Downtown I purchased the above on Hotwire on 9/20/2007 for the following: Dates staying: 11/7/2007 to 11/9/2007 Paid $59 per night (the hotel website quotes the lowest price as approx. $104) Amenities: Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Laundry, Internet Hope this helps someone else.
  12. Just a reminder that the New York City Marathon is on Sunday, November 4th, so finding an hotel in Manhattan for your dates may be a little tricky as there are special events the entire week leading up to it. But don't give up as there may be last minute room releases to Priceline.
  13. I have also been bidding for the last few days on the following with no luck: 11/09 - 11/12, 4*, MW/UM-CPS, all under $200. I haven't made a back-up plan as I'm hoping that the hotels will release more inventory as the date gets nearer. I won't change to a 3* until the last week of October. Should you do get something, please post. Thanks.
