  1. Hi Again, I just saw on another post that it is easier for the board to have the actual names of the zones, so here they are :) Central Park South Chelsea Area Downtown - SoHo - Financial District Empire State Building Area Madison Square Garden - Convention Area Midtown East Midtown West Times Square - Theatre District Upper East Side Upper West Side Thanks again Rossi
  2. Hi thank you very much for your reply :) I guess it is worth the try to see if we can get something this low :) With regards to the zones we are not really picky as long as it is in Manhattan...so out of the Priceline zones in NY I would rule out Brooklyn and Ling Island City....so zones 2 , 3 , 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 Thanks again. Rossi
  3. Again thanks for replying so fast!!! I just booked though the provided URLs the 4* Downtown Soho. When I booked it , it had gone up to $235 but it is still a great deal for a 4* in NY I think The hotel in fact was the Embassy Suits Embassy Suites Hotel New York City See details 102 North End Avenue New York City, New York 10282 (212) 945-0100 I am very pleased with the outcome once again...this forum is great!! I don't make a trip without it :) Thanks for all your help as always , Rossi

  6. Hi thereuare thanks for your quick reply. in terms of budget we were thinking of $150-200 for a 3 or 4*, is that unrealistic? or is that OK? Thank you, Rossi
  7. Hi I've been reading the posts on special events that are going on in october like the UN meeting and the Marathon, we are planning to go to NY the weekend of 10-3 to 10-5. Are there any events going on at that time that would affect the supply of rooms? Also we want to stay at a 3-4* hotel in Manhattan, any strategies? Thank you, Rossi
  8. Thank you very much for your quick response, I went to the Reach Resort web page and found that they have an special of stay 3 nights and get the 4th free, so I ended up paying $234 per night in average as opposed to $276 in HOTWIRE. This hotel is very convenient for me since I will be actually attending a convention at the Casa Marina, and since they are sister companies you can use all their amenities. One word of caution is that the hotel is going under cosntruction so request a room away from it. Thanks again Thereuare for helping me ID this hotel and for this forum which is always so helpful Best regards Rossi

  11. Sorry about that, My dates in Rome are from Sept 30 to October 4th Than kyou very much for your good wishes HAve a great one :) Rossi
  12. HI Again So I am doing the second part of my trip after paris. After booking that terrific rate on Hotwire for PAris I decided to try with my stay in Rome I tried priceline but I got rejected in all my bids So I tryied Hotwire I chose 3-star hotel in Vatican City Area Hotel Amenities Complimentary Breakfast <amenity names only please... not descriptions> High-speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. The hotel I got is the following : Pinewood Hotel Rome Via Della Pineta Sacchetti 43 Rome, 167 Italy 01139066636546 My only beef with this is though the hotel looks great and its 6.5 kilometers from the vatican in the outskirts, Actually according to venere.com its in the City Area:Aurelio e Monteverde area.... Oh well at least it looks like its close to the subway, I read some reviews in Tripadvisor and they said that the area itself was a little shady. But I guess we will use it as a hub and stay in Rome as much as possible, and take a cab back. I will let you know when i get back....now I am scared to use Hotwire for my Florence portion of the trip :) Thanks again everyone, All the best Rossi
  13. Hi "Thereuare" and Will Travel Thank you very much for all your feedback I am so happy that we actually had a good result with this one Thanks again for your good wishes and keep up the great job here :) With warm regards, Rossi
  14. So here is the final update, not what I had expected but I think at then end is not a bad one. I did my final bidding today in priceline (Since I leave on Thursday I was so stress on this) , I started on 4* from $130 up to $166 and got rejected. Then moved on to 3* and Bid up to $160 and got rejected again. So I went to Hotwire thanks to your advise and spoted a 3* in Grand Opera for $166 so I booked it The hotel is the following: Best Western Bergere Opera See details 34 Rue Berg re Paris, 75009 France 00133147703434 and since I read this on another post, to write down the amenities, they were the following: Details for your 3-star hotel in Op
  15. Hi there Sorry I didnot see your message, for opaque suppliers I guess I assume priceline? If all fails, I guess I will try hotwire or maybe an airport hotel, Porbably upt to $150 Thanks again, Rossi
  16. Just a new observation, since I did my last bid before 12:00, (and I can't sleep, its noe 2:28 am) I bid again....no takers yet, I will let everyone know how it goes though
  17. Here is the new Status, I applied to my best hability some strategies posted here I used SavingsBarn.com every time I did So I started as follows: 4* STG $110 REJECTED Added Opera $125 REJECTED Added Eiffel $130 REJECTED Added Champ $135 REJECTED Added Montmarted $140 REJECTED I then had my husband try 4* STG $145 REJECTED Added Opera $150 REJECTED Added Eiffel $155 REJECTED Added Champ $155 REJECTED Added Montmarted $155 REJECTED (I figured it was worth a shot) In my desesperation opted to 3* STG $100 REJECTED Added Opera $105 REJECTED Added Eiffel $110 REJECTED Added Champ $120 REJECTED So, no luck for me today, I am not sure if it makes sense to keep going up? Does anyone know once they reject all those times if they are likelly to accept again the same bids, the hotels I mean. Ohhhh something else I forgot to mention, after 2 rejections or so I would close the browser and ever agan though savingsbarn.com, and retype everything I think I read that somewhere So any ideas? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks again, Rossi
  18. I would rather go maximun on the 4* hotel, if all fails then I would go to the 3* Thank you,
  19. Hi Sue Thank you very much for your feedback and tips!!! I really appreciate it. I would love to have the same outcome as you did, so I will let you know how it goes :) Thanks again for all the precios feedback, its my first time using Priceline overseas and I was so lost, this is such a great fortum Thanks again for all your support and have a GREAT time in Paris :) Rossi
  20. Hi Thank you very much for the feedback on the star rating that is great. In regards to the new Maximun bid I would go to $125 Thank you very much!! Rossi
  21. Hi There Thank you very much for your reply. I guess I am looking for the best hotel fo the least money but I am not set on a 4* so a 3* would be fine. Looking at the previous posts I also think that maybe $100 is somewhat slim, so I can definatelly go up on that. On the zones, I would like to stay at Champ Elysees, Opera Quarter or Eiffel Tower. And St. Germain - Latin Quarter - Montparnasse zone as suggested (which looks like a great area) Thanks again for all your help
  22. Thank you for your reply and feedback I really appreciate it, as a bidding stratergy on Priceline what would you suggest? Thanks again
  23. I will be staying in Paris from Sept 21-Sept 25 2007. I would like to pay around $100 in either Champ Elysees, Opera Quarted or Eiffel Tower. I have used Priceline before to book hotels in the US with no real stratergy but I've gotten good deals. I just tryied my "non Stratergy" stratergy and it didn't work.... So I was wondering if maybe someone can help me in how I should approach this bidding to make it a good one? Thank you!!
