  1. Is the Courtyard now being considered a 3*? It was a 2.5* when I was last in Pittsburgh (and booked through PRICELINE). It's a very nice hotel, so I can see why it was upgraded - just wondering because I've seen people post it as a win for both 2.5 and 3 stars around the same timeframe and was wondering what star level to bid for whenever I travel there next.
  2. Hey all - just got to the Radisson and wanted to make a quick follow up. They told us at the desk that we would be in a Smoking/King room..luckily, since we got in a little early, we were able to switch to non-smoking. Radisson is known for their new Sleep Number beds (we stayed in one last year in Toronto)...but as far as we were told, you now have to pay $20/night to get this room. When you book through Priceline, you get what's leftover :) I'm tempted to ask if this rate just went into effect, because we booked through Priceline last year, got a Radisson/Sleep Number room...and didn't have a ripped Velux comforter when we got there :) Otherwise, the hotel is fine, and the free parking/internet are a plus!
  3. Colfax, Thanks for your suggestion. We're actually getting in at noon on the 25th, so I booked a car (got it for $15/day) so that we can drive wherever that day. It was a lot cheaper to get it for the whole week, rather than 3 days, so we'll just probably park it at the airport once we go into the city, like BEAV suggested before. Thanks!
  4. 6/28/08-7/1/08 Used PRICELINE link: We started bidding at $85 with just Union Square East area selected (family member told me USW isn't as safe) - Rejected- Added Civic Center, raised bid to $90 -Rejected- Added Lombard Street, raised bid to $95 -Rejected- Added Cathedral Hill, raised bid to $100 -Rejected- (thank goodness SF has a lot of zones without 4* hotels!!) Added South San Francisco, raised bid to $105 *ACCEPTED-Westin St. Francis We're very happy with the win - not a huge fan of the fact that the gym/high-speed internet cost extra, but at least we won't have a car for these 3 nights, which would cost a good bit more to park!
  5. 6/25/08-6/28/08 Used PRICELINE link... 3* Hotel in South San Francisco Area $80 Radisson - Accepted with first bid. I think we probably could've gotten this for less, but the boyfriend was too quick with his bid :) We're still happy - they have free parking, free airport shuttle, and it'll be a convenient place to stay while we're day-tripping around the area for the first few days of our vacation. We actually stayed at a Radisson in Toronto last year (via Priceline), and the Sleep Number beds are fine...they take a bit of getting used to!
  6. Booked our 2 hotels today - should I post them here or create new posts?
  7. Thank you SO much for your suggestions! I'm going to talk through all of this with my boyfriend and plan from there. I'll follow up once we've booked the hotels!
  8. The first three days/nights, we were planning to drive from SF to San Jose, Napa, Monterey (up the coast, etc), Muir Woods...kind of making day trips, but coming back each night, as to not have to hotel hop throughout the entire trip. We were thinking if we have a rental car, we might as well stay at a hotel outside the city for those first few nights, so that we wouldn't have to worry about the extra parking charges in town or just getting in and out of the city...and figured the airport/South San Fran/San Mateo hotels would be cheaper as well.
  9. Yes, the 4* Hyatt was in the SFO zone. The 2.5 stars in the South San Fran area don't look too bad either (Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites, Residence Inn, etc). I wouldn't mind staying downtown, but we were planning on going into the city during the second half of our trip, which would take away the need for a car. I guess we could do the city first, then drive elsewhere during the second half of our stay. In terms of long-term parking at the airport, we'd at least want in and out privileges in case we wanted to drive somewhere for dinner, and that wouldn't be available if we kept the car at the airport. Is the hassle of taking the subway enough to not stay outside of the city?
  10. It depends...if we were to try to stay in only ONE hotel for all 6 nights (in the SFO airport area), we would like to stay around $100. I'm not too familiar with San Francisco, as I've never been there, so I'm not sure of how far away is too far. I saw last night on Hotwire that there was a 4* (seemingly the Hyatt) from 6/28-7/1 for $79 a night. If we could get that hotel for less on Priceline, we would try for that...which still leaves us with the other 3 nights. Obviously, it'd be nice to stay at the same place all 6 nights, but we wouldn't mind switching halfway through. Since we'll do the city sightseeing during the second half of the trip, I think staying around the airport so that we can get to the subway would be best. In terms of the areas we'd prefer, the airport would be the first, so that we could get into the city via the subway, but we'll also have a car since we'll be driving to San Jose, Monterey, etc, so we'd also be okay with the San Mateo area as well. I'd be concerned with bidding on the zones within the city and having a car, since I've heard it can be upwards of $40 to park at the hotels! We've called the SFO Airport Hyatt and Sheraton...they're $18/night for parking, and while the Sofitel in San Mateo has free parking, the Marriott in the same area also charges $18/night. I've probably given you way too much info, but we're on a budget and trying to figure that out with a city like San Fran! :) Thanks.
  11. Just took care of that Orlando post... If this is supposedly the Quality Suites, I think we'll probably look into the 4-Star hotels instead. We can't seem to get a good deal for 6/25-7/1 at the airport hotels! (already bid up to $95/night for the 4-stars). Any suggestions? We thought about splitting our trip as 6/25-6/28 and 6/28-7/1 (seemed to get decent airport hotels for the 2nd portion), but the weekday nights of Wednesday-Friday were tough, even in the San Mateo area.
  12. My boyfriend's dad ended up surprising us by getting us the hotel room (good thing he told me before I booked one also!), so unfortunately, we didn't end up using Hotwire/Priceline. One of our friends did choose that 3* booking in the I-Drive South area, however, and he said it was the Springhill Suites at the Convention Center. As always, I appreciate your help and we will definitely use the BB links for our upcoming SF trip.
  13. Hi there, Could you please help me identify this Hotwire hotel in the San Francisco Intl Airport area? Dates are 6/25/08-6/28/08 Amenities are: Suite Airport Shuttle Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Business Center Listed at $102, 103, and 104 (has changed a few times in the last couple minutes!) :) Thanks!
  14. ....could this be Homewood Suites? Any help would be much appreciated, as I'm trying to book this trip.
  15. ...I'd also like help ID'ing a 3* in the same area and the same dates...showing for $73 Suite Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Thank you!!
  16. Any idea what hotel this is? 2.5-star hotel in SeaWorld - I-drive South Area Hotel Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Showing $29/night from 1/11/08-1/15/08 Thanks!
  17. I'm looking at some "Off the Record" hotels on EasyClickTravel, and while I can get through all the way to where I'm about to pay...some of the nights say "On Request" for availability - what does that mean? I'm looking for hotels in the Lake Buena Vista/Disney area of Orlando from 1/11/08-1/15/08
  18. Can anyone help in identifying this 3* hotel on Hotwire? It's going for $49 for the days of 1/11/08-1/15/08 3 Star Hotel in the Lake Buena Vista - Downtown Disney Area Amenities Include: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Thanks!
  19. Welll.....you can add a 2.5 star to the Priceline hotel list! Would you like me to start a separate topic? I just got the Marriott Courtyard Downtown for $50 a night!! :)
  20. I know that there are no 2* hotels in Downtown Pittsburgh, but what do you mean there are no 2.5 star hotels? Both the Courtyard and SpringHill Suites are 2.5 star hotels in the Downtown area (I know because I'm from Pittsburgh, and I've stayed at the Courtyard before). The actual dates of my stay are 11/22/07-11/25/07, and my max bid is $79 for Priceline. We can get a 3.5 star on Hotwire for $84, so I'd take that if I don't get a bid accepted on Priceline.
  21. Hi! I am trying to bid on a hotel in Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving weekend. I was initially thinking about bidding on a 3 or 4 star, but I know that the Courtyard Marriott and Springhill Suites North Shore in Downtown Pittsburgh are both 2.5 star hotels, and we really like staying in Marriotts. Does anyone know if these hotels participate in the Name Your Own Price part of Priceline? I see that I can choose 2.5 star for the Downtown area, and upon looking at the list of Priceline hotels before doing the bid option, these showed up as the only 2.5 star hotels in Downtown Pittsburgh. I didn't see them on the Priceline list here on BetterBidding, so I was wondering if anyone has ever gotten either? Thanks! ...sorry for the rambling :)
  22. I just got back from this hotel - it's really nice! The 42'' TV in the room was awesome, and the beds were really comfy. Enjoy your stay next month! :)
  23. And the winner is... Hyatt Place Orlando/Universal 5895 Caravan Court Orlando, FL 32819, USA Amenities: Continental or full breakfast. Fitness Center Pool(s) High-speed Internet Access I just won this hotel through Hotwire for $42, for the dates of Sept. 28th-Oct. 2nd. I was listed at $39 on my computer, $42 on my boyfriend's (I guess we could've saved $12 if I had known that would happen, but it's still a great deal!)
  24. Now I see a 2.5 in the Seaworld-I Drive South Area with the following amenities (so there's no longer a business center)...it's $32 still, but it seems a little different than what I saw previously. Any idea what it could be? Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) High-speed Internet Access ...I also no longer see Laundry facilities or any Reviews...
