  1. I already have my flights for the trip, arriving in New Orleans on the 23rd and leaving on the 27th. Can you suggest a bidding strategy for a 3.5 or 4* ? First choice the FQ, second choice the Downtown area. Trying to stay around 100$ Per night. Also, is trip cancellation insurance on the Priceline site worth getting?
  2. :) Aargh. Psychiatric convention! I was aware of the Jazz Festival, but not this. Yes, considering the circumstances I will be flexible, I can include the downtown area, and I can increase my price a bit. If I go up to 100$ a night would that help? Am I in the game for a 3.5/4* if I up my price to 100$ and add the Downtown area? It was hard to find wins for the week I am going to be there, so you are correct; the Pavillon prices were not for my dates. :) Also, when do you think is the best time for me to start my bidding?
  3. We don't need to predict the hotel, assuming that a 3.5 or a 4 star will be a nice hotel. Price is a priority, I am a sucker for a great deal. It would be preferred I think to be in the FQ,although I have seen the Pavillon on HOTWIRE for 75$, even though that Hotel in considered in the "Downtown" area, it is a great location and an incredible hotel. So, First priority is a great HOTEL. It is, after all , a big deal to have a 25th anniversary! Second Priority is to get a good deal. As long as we can walk to the FQ we can be flexible. I hope that I have not confused you.
  4. My husband and I are going to New Orleans to celebrate our 25th Anniversary from 5/23-5/27/2010. I would appreciate advice on a strategy for bidding on a 3.5 or a 4 star in the FQ for these dates. When should I start my bidding and how much should I expect to spend? I hope to get something for around 75-80, but I am not sure if this is realistic. I generally use Priceline, but have recently used Hotwire and am open to either.
  5. Here are the amenities as listed by HOTWIRE for my stay at Holiday Inn Express, Concordville-Glen Mills, May 7-9, 2010 Smoke Free Rooms available Pool (s) Laundry Facilities Complimentary Breakfast Hi Speed Internet Access Fitness Center Business Center Golf Nearby
  6. I just booked through HOTWIRE for my daughter's graduation from West Chester University . I generally bid PRICELINE, but was convinced that I would get the Holiday Inn Express for 59$ with HOTWIRE, so I gave it a try. I have stayed here before and was very satisfied with the Hotel. I took the 8$ cancellation insurance, with taxes and fees my total for the 2 nights is 142.35$. I did use the HOTWIRE link on this site. Now all we need is for my daughter to actually graduate from college! Wootwoot!!
  7. Thanks for the info. I was just surprised at my outcome. It will be fine to stay there the price is really fantastic :) and it is closest to the University where I am visiting my daughter. Please feel free to post my results on the calendar of wins. I will continue to use Priceline, half the fun is being surprised at what you get. I am pretty sure that Hotwire has this property for 54$. It is rare to be dissapointed and it's really no big deal. The reason I use Priceline is to get the best price, and it almost always is really really good. With the economy and a child in College that is my priority. I promise to have a great time in West Chester!
  8. Today I entered PRICELINE though this site. I bid 40.$ on a 2 1/2 star in the West Chester/Concordville zone 6. The only Priceline hotels in this category are Staybridge (Glen Mills)and Holiday Inn Express -(Concordville) I was hoping to get one of these as I have gotten both in the past and they are both great. My dates are October 17-19 It surprised me that Priceline now has Holiday Inn (West Chester) as a 3 star because I have stayed at that hotel several times and at best it is a 2*, and always has been ranked as a 2* At any rate, what Priceline did with my Bid for the 2 1/2 * was "upgrade" me to a supposed 3* the Holiday Inn ( West Chester) I definitely feel that I have been duped. This does not seem right to me. 40$ is a good price, but I think I was definitely Downgraded to a 2*, NOT upgraded to a 3*. I would have preferred that PL not accept my bid! Can they do this? Seems like dirty pool to me. Any opinions?
  9. I did use the link on this site to access Priceline. For some reason I think I get a better deal when I use this PRICELINE link. Is that possible?
  10. Hi, I am bringing my daughter to West Chester University this weekend. I bid 55$ for a 2 1/2 * and won on the first try. I got the Staybridge Suites- Wilmingtoon-Brandywine Valley. I have never stayed at this location, so it will be nice to stay somewhere different. I am happy with the Price as well
  11. HELLO ALL Just won the HILTON GARDEN INN 3* in PROVIDENCE/WARWICK-AIRPORT FOR 42$ Got it on the first try and I am happy with how the hotel looks. Just need it for a quick stay overnight and it looks like we will be quite comfortable here. All the reviews are great!
  12. It worked! Here's what I did I decided that I would try for a 4 star. 4* Copley 101 rejected, but offered to take 22 more, attempted to up to 105 but was not permitted to do that so I closed out, re-opened the PRICELINE Link here on BBidding 4* Copley, Fenway- 105 ACCEPTED -THE FAIRMONT COPLEY PLAZA Hotel looks magnificent! I am very happy with it and with the price. T hanks everyone for the help
  13. Thanks , that info is helpful. I think I will use a similar strategy and bite the bullet and go up to around 100$, staying in Copley. It is weird, sometimes I think Priceline gets annoyed at me! Is that possible? I will post my progress.
  14. HMM. So Here is what I did, with no success. 80- rejected added fenway 85- rejected, added medford 90- rejected. I am surprised since I am seeing wins much lower. Am I doing something wrong?
  15. I do apologize for being remiss, but I do appreciate the help and I PROMISE to do better with posting and using the links. So am I correct in this strategy? As of now, the re-bid zones are, Fenway, Brighton, Medford and South Boston. SO I can rebid and raise my price by adding those zones, one at a time, since they don't have any 3.5 star hotels? It makes sense to me , I am just a first timer with re-bidding Should there be any particular order that I add the other zones?
  16. I am going to Boston 5/7-10 and am hoping for a 3 1/2 star hotel in the Copley /Back Bay area. I want to use Priceline and I am fairly experienced but have not really used the re-bidding strategy, as I am a little nervous about getting stuck in an area I don't want. It does seem that the Fenway area only has 1 star hotels, so I think I might be able to use that as a free re-bid zone. Could someone please advise me on a strategy and I promise to post my results! I started this morning, and bid 65 for a 3 1/2 but was rejected. I do have a little time. Also , anybody have any advice about lo cost parking options? I wouldn't mind walking a few block to the hotel if it saves me some money. THANKS!!
