  1. Also needed a night for a different traveler 9/18 by Logan. Tried 4* up to $159 with no luck. I have a room (corporate rate) at the Embassy Suites by Logan for $175 which I think I'll keep/
  2. Looking for airport zone only. Bids up to $130 for 4* were all rejected Started over again for 2.5* (because the only 3* I've known in Logan zone has been the Four Points by Sheraton which I don't like as much as the 2.5* hotels in the same zone). $89 for 2.5* was rejected $99 for 2.5* was accepted with upgrade to this brand new 3* hotel Advance purchase rate on hotel's website is $189 (Please note this new hotel for addition to Priceline hotel list for Boston Logan Airport zone)
  3. Bid on 4* at Logan one night. Started at $71, when I got to $85, I got a counter offer to go up to $107; ignored it and raised to $89, still rejected and $94 was accepted at Hilton (my first choice at Logan). Total with tax and fees = $115.73. Best rate on Hilton website is $127 ($145 with tax) so saved $30 in exchange for prepaying and foregoing Hilton Honors points. Used PRICELINE link. Thank you!
  4. Only wanted Logan. Started at 4*. Bid up to $72, no luck. Started over with 2.5* (in the hopes of getting the Hampton Inn or the Courtyard by Marriott which I like better and are closer to Logan than the Four Points which is rated 3*), $60 was rejected with counter-offer of $71. Used free re-bid to go up to $66 and was accepted (and "upgraded" to the 3* Four Points). It's not my favorite Logan hotel, but it's fine for one night, the shuttle is efficient, and the price is good.
  5. Only looking in Logan Airport zone. Bid 4* up to $95 with no luck. Started over at 2.5*. $85 rejected. $89 accepted with "upgrade" to 3*. Do not know this hotel. Tripadvisor has mixed reviews. If their shuttle is efficient, will consider this a good deal. Used PRICELINE link.
  6. Needed room near Logan for 1 night before early morning flight. Bid 4* up to $99 with no luck. Started over with 2.5*. $70 was rejected. Next bed of $80 was accepted. We like this hotel. $219 on hotel's website for this night. We're happy. Used PRICELINE link.
  7. Wanted only Airport zone. Bid up to $85 for 4* with no success. Started over at $67 for 2.5*. Was given counteroffer. Raised bid to $69 and was accepted. Comfort Inn And Suites Logan Airport Revere - Logan Airport (BOS) 85 American Legion Highway Revere, Massachusetts 02151 781-485-3600 Check-In Date: Tue, May 17, 2011 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Wed, May 18, 2011 / 11:00 AM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $69.00 Subtotal: $69.00 Taxes & Fees: $17.61 Total Charges*: $86.61 Used PRICELINE link
  8. Started bidding at $50 on 4* hotels in Logan zone. At $65 I started getting counteroffers. $70 was not accepted. $75 was accepted. (I did this on March 2. I apologize for delay in posting it.) Used PRICELINE link
  9. Needed one room near Logan for the night of March 4. I bid on 4* and 3.5* (while 4* has always meant just Hyatt and Hilton, I have no idea what the 3.5* hotel at Logan would be -- does anyone know?) using free rebids up to $80 with no luck (I started getting "add $20" counteroffers at $75) and then dropped down to 2.5 star and started bidding at $65 and got accepted on first bid, with an upgrade to 3* Embassy Suites. (I purposely skipped 3* and went straight to 2.5* because I like the 2.5* Courtyard and Hampton Inn better than the 3* Four Points by Sheraton and even though I know a 2.5* bid often gets upgraded to the Four Points, a 3* bid won't get downgraded to the Hampton Inn or Courtyard. This time, I was pleasantly rewarded with the Embassy Suites. It just feels wrong that the Embassy Suites and the Four Points can be considered the same star level in the Logan zone. The Embassy Suites has a big posh lobby, all suites with living rooms and kitchens, in great condition, modern shuttle van, close to Logan, with free hot made-to-order breakfasts and the Four Points is just so shabby -- reading the defensive TripAdvisor "management responses" gives an accurate view of the place.... but, alas, that's how it is. I feel I won this time!) Used PRICELINE link for all bids.
  10. Started bidding at $50. Got counter offer ($15) at $59 and kept using free re-bids in $1 increments until $68 was accepted. Used PRICELINE link. Thank you!
  11. Needed only Logan Airport zone. Went up to $82 on 4* with no luck. Bid $65 on 2.5* and got counter-offer to go up to $85. Ignored and re-bid $75 and was accepted. If I were to do it again, I'd start at $68-ish. Comfort Inn And Suites Logan Airport Revere - Logan Airport (BOS) View Map and Directions Check-In Date: Sun, Nov 7, 2010 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, Nov 8, 2010 / 11:00 AM Amenities: Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $75.00 Subtotal: $75.00 Taxes & Fees: $18.67 Total Charges*: $93.67 Used PRICELINE link. THANKS
  12. The amenities shown for this hotel were high speed internet access (only). It was listed as a 2* hotel.
  13. Thanks for the detailed and helpful responses, Bobc and thereuare. The 2* on Hotwire went down to $53 this morning and I just booked it. It is, indeed, the Red Roof Inn. I booked through the HOTWIRE link on this page and I'll send a report after I stay there. Thanks again for the services this site provides -- which helped me determine what hotel it was I was booking, and whether I should do it.
  14. I have a 6am flight out of Logan on Sat 10/23 and am looking for a hotel near the airport for that night. I've bid on PRICELINE up to $160 for 3* and up to $200 for 3.5 and 4* with no luck. I know it's the Head of the Charles that weekend and all of my usual standbys at Logan are showing sold out on their own websites. But suddenly, as of just now, I'm seeing a $59 2* on HOTWIRE which looks like the Red Roof Inn in Saugus which doesn't have a shuttle to the airport, but they say that a taxi costs $24 and they can have it there for me at 4:30 a.m. Tripadvisor ratings are good. Has anyone stayed here before? Is it really only 20 minutes to the airport? Should I take this plunge? Is anything apt to open up on HOTWIRE or PRICELINE? The only other option I'm seeing is what looks like the Logan Airport Hilton on lastminutetravel.com for $222, which is kind of steep. Thanks for any advice.
  15. Thanks, thereuare. The Four Points works fine for early morning departures or late night arrivals at Logan, but it is my least favorite hotel in the Logan Airport zone because it's further from the airport and the rooms (at least the ones Priceline guests get) are old and worn. The rooms at the 2.5* Courtyard and at the 2.5* Hampton Inn are more comfortable and upscale than the Four Points. It was marketing genius to put the name "Boston Logan Airport" in its title and run a 24-hour shuttle out to the hotel -- about 4 miles up Route 1A from the airport. Since the 2.5*s at Logan are nicer than the most common 3*, I never bother to bid for a 3* at Logan. I still get "upgraded" to it from time to time. But as I said, beggars can't be choosers and for the price I usually pay to stay there, I really can't complain.
  16. I've stayed at that Embassy Suites before. PRICELINE used to rate it 3.5* I believe. It was nice. It's a typical Embassy Suites -- big generic suites, breakfast cooked to order. It seems strangely-located. I don't know how many people are really looking for an apartment-type hotel with kitchen and living room right beside the airport. (Perhaps not that many, which may be why they discount their rooms on PRICELINE.) But other than that, I thought it was a nice hotel. If you don't have a car, you can take the hotel's shuttle either to the Blue Line station or to any terminal and pick up the Silver Line to go in and out of Boston
  17. For the night of Sept 15, one night at Logan Airport for early a.m. flight on the 16th: Yesterday and again today I bid up to $100 for a 4* with no luck. Yesterday I also bid $72 and $79 on a 2.5 * with no luck. Today I started bidding on 2.5* at $82 and it was accepted right off, but I got the dreaded "upgrade" to the Four Points by Sheraton (again -- see my last post). Oh well. Beggars can't be choosers. Used PRICELINE link on this page. Four Points By Sheraton Boston Logan Airport Revere - Logan Airport (BOS) 407 Squire Road Revere, Massachusetts 02151 781-284-7200 Check-In Date: Wed, Sep 15, 2010 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Thu, Sep 16, 2010 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $82.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $82.00 Taxes and Fees: $19.74 Total Charges*: $101.74
  18. Bid up to $90 for 4* in Airport Zone with no luck. First bid for 2.5* accepted or $79. If you're bidding for a 2.5* for this date, start lower. Used PRICELINE link.
  19. THanks, Joehotel. Point well-taken. I just seem to get much better deals at PRICELINE, but if it's ever really critical that I get or not get a certain hotel, I know that HOTWIRE is safer. Yeah, I've stayed at both the 2.5* Hampton Inn and 2.5* Courtyard and I don't quite get why the Four Points is higher-rated than those two. It's more run-down, rooms aren't as nicely appointed, and it's further from the airport, but that much said, it's fine for one night (it just means waking up 15 minutes earlier) and all three hotels have free parking and free internet during your stay (both of which the 4* hotels charge a lot for) -- and the Hampton Inn includes breakfast.
  20. I was bidding for a hotel near Logan for early flight out the next morning. I bid up to $74 on 4*'s. I got a a counter-offer to bid $79 at one point so I know I was getting close to being accepted, but when I got to $74 I decided to try my luck at a 2.5*, mainly so that I could get free parking which the 4* hotels do not provide. My $60 bid for a 2.5* was rejected and my (one and only opportunity for a) rebid of $68 was accepted. But what I knew was always a possibility in theory had happened. The acceptance screen told me that I had been "upgraded" to a 3* hotel for this $68 bid so, instead of getting the nicer (and closer to Logan) 2.5* Courtyard or Hampton Inn that I was hoping for, I'm going to be at the less desirable Four Points by Sheraton on Rte 1A in Revere (which I've always thought was stretching the truth by putting "Boston Logan Airport" in its name). I've stayed there before. It'll be fine and for that price, beggars can't be choosers, but be forewarned that being "upgraded" at Logan is not just a theoretical possibility; it happens. :) I used the PRICELINE link on this page for all bids.
  21. I was looking for Boston Airport zone only (early morning flight on the 18th). I used the PRICELINE link on this page each time I bid -- I started bidding for 4* and 3.5*, starting at $50 and adding other zones for free rebids up to $95 with no luck. Started over with 2.5* (Logan Airport Zone only). (I skipped over 3* to avoid getting the Four Points by Sheraton which is so far away.) I bid $75 and was given a counter offer. I ignored it and added Fenway zone and raised my bid to $80 and it was accepted as follows. Has anyone stayed here with a PRICELINE bid? Is it OK? Thanks! 22. Started bidding for 4* at Logan Airport at $50 and increased in $2 increments until $58 when I got a $17 counter offer and then went up in $1 increments. $67 rejected. $68 accepted. 23. Needed room by Logan for one night. Started at $49 bidding for 4* in Logan zone, used free rebids in $2 increments until I got a counteroffer and then in $1 increments after that. $67 was rejected and $68 was accepted.
