  1. Your guess was correct. Booked for $70 USD. (Saw it on the PRICELINE forum as a win for $57! I should have tried my hand there through Priceline instead!) I went through the betterbidding HOTWIRE link.
  2. I have updated the threads and clicked on the links. Thanks.
  3. I ended up booking a hotel through hotels.com as I was unsuccessful bidding and was interested in a particular hotel.
  4. I was not successful with the bidding and ended up not requiring a hotel room for those nights after all.
  5. I ended up booking a hotel room in Brooklyn for the nights I needed, using hotels.com. I had no success with the bidding process on PRICELINE.

  7. Thanks, will keep in mind your comments about my posts. The guesses are helpful and I will update if I proceed to use Hotwire for my plans.
  8. I would also appreciate any guesses on the ID of the following 3* Beverly Hills-West Hollywood hotel, which is being listed for $113 on Hotwire. I searched one room, for two adults, for Feb 16-20. The amenities list is below. Thanks! 9. I would appreciate any guesses on the following 4* Century City-West Hollywood hotel, currently advertised on Hotwire for $130 (before taxes/fees, Canadian $). I searched for availability for one room, 2 adults, in the LA neighborhoods for Feb 16-20. The amenities are as follows: The amenities listed are as follows: Smoke Free Rooms Guest rooms at this hotel are always smoke-free. Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Pool(s) Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal. 10. Yes, that would be ok. I currently have a reservation in Brooklyn for $180, inclusive of taxes, for a room with two twin beds. I may try a few more times on PRICELINE but it's no longer as stressful...
  11. I am looking for either Manhattan or Brooklyn. I had not included many of the zones in the rebid as I had already gone up to the $130 mark (and was trying to see if I could get any of the 3.5 stars in Brooklyn on that attempt). I would not want to stay in NJ.
  12. I used Coney Island, LIC, Queensborough Bridge, and Upper East Side to rebid. I will be flying into the area a few days earlier. Thanks!
  13. I tried Brooklyn 3.5* bidding with the four rebid zones and got up to $133 with no luck. I have been using the site's PRICELINE link. I would like to stay under $150 for the bid price, at either 3.5 or 4 level, in Manhattan or Brooklyn. I would prefer to target zones where it might be easier to win a room at a larger hotel (in hopes of making a request at check in for a room with two beds), but that's a preference rather than a deal breaker. Thanks for any advice you can give.
  14. It is an extension; I am staying an additional night on the Saturday (while the rest of my party is leaving the area). I thought it might be easier to win a room for just one night so split up the posts that way.
  15. I would like to get 2 rooms in any of the following 4* zones CPS, Chelsea, DT, ESB, HK, MTE, MTW, TS or UWS. Do you think it is possible to get any matches for $150/room/night? Are there any zones that are more likely than others to be easier to win when bidding for 2 rooms? Thanks!
  16. I am having difficulty finding a hotel room in any of CPS, Chelsea, Downtown, ESB, HK, MTE, MTW, TS and UWS for Saturday June 4, for under $120. Any thoughts on how high I will need to go to get into a 4* in these areas? Alternatively, what range would you suggest if I were to aim for 3.5*? Thanks!
  17. I have been bidding for the last few days for a 4* in the St. Germain - Latin Quarter - Montparnasse area, with no luck so far. I started at $112, $118, $121. I am limiting myself to this area as it seems most centrally located. (The Opera Quarter East - Les Halles is even more central, but I have not seen a winning bid posted on this site!) Any thoughts on how high I may need to go for this time of year? Any suggestions welcome. I have been using the PRICELINE link off this site.
  18. I got this screen last night while bidding on Paris hotels. I haven't seen any confirmation that my bid was rejected though. Should I wait a few days to confirm that my VISA card has not been charged?
  19. Started bidding for CPS zone at $116, moved up to $119 using rebid zones. I have been bidding for the past few weeks without going past $120, so I'm satisfied with the price. I'm concerned about the tripadvisor reviews on how the hotel treats priceline customers and will report on a new post after our stay.
  20. Tried again for MTE, MTW, CPS and Times Square, from $90 up to $93, for 2.5 stars, with no luck. (Used the PRICELINE link off this site.) Friend will stay in Long Island City. As always, thanks for the help!
  21. I went up as far as $93, over the past few days. I was reluctant to go any higher because of the additional fees and taxes bringing it over the price of the hotel room he has already booked. Downtown is actually less convenient than Long Island City for him. I will likely expand to include the Upper East Side today. Thanks for the help and will update.
  22. I am trying to priceline a room for a friend who needs to stay in NYC this Saturday 3/20/2010. I have had no success finding anything in any of the MTE, MTW, Times Square, CPS zones, and have been searching for several weeks now. Ideally I'd love to get him into the Affinia in MTE (which appears to be a 2.5 star as of some recent postings, and is in his preferred zone anyway) but at this point he just wants a no-frills place for under $95. Hence I am tasked with looking for 2.5 stars. Should I expand the zones? He already has a cancellable reservation (cancellable without charges by Thursday afternoon) booked for a room in Brooklyn for just over $100, but would prefer to be near the MTE zone. Do more rooms typically open up closer to the date? All tips greatly appreciated.
  23. I wanted a room either in Dupont Circle, White House-Downtown, or Georgetown for the Easter long weekend (April 1-4, 2010). I used the PRICELINE link on this site and started with: White House-Downtown, 4*, started at $85, no match. Added DC Suburbs, $89, no match. Added Mount Vernon, $91, no match. Closed the window. Dupont Circle, 4*, $85, nothing. Priceline asked me to increase bid for $22. I added DC Suburbs, 4*, $88 - success! (Apologies, I intended to go through the site again when I did the second round of bidding but went in through the wrong browser window instead. :) )
  24. Just curious to know if anyone noticed when Priceline changed its downtown zone to Downtown (north) and Downtown (south). Is this a recent development?
  25. After bidding and rebidding in the 4* and boutique categories up to $150, got the following: Holiday Inn Fishermans Wharf 3-star Fisherman's Wharf 1300 Columbus Ave San Francisco, California 94133 415-771-9000 See Hotel Website View Map and Directions Check-In Date: Fri, Sep 28, 2007 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Tue, Oct 2, 2007 / 12:00 PM A little disappointed but I have been trying for two weeks now and the prices seemed skyhigh when I checked on HOTWIRE. Still looking for two nights in San Diego in a 4* for 10/2 to 10/4, max bid $150. Any feedback more than welcome.
