  1. Thanks! Saturday - November 8th Priceline is also offering me 5* in Downtown Southeast for $221 which I think is the Trump?
  2. Anyone know what this is? The list here only shows 5 star for other area - Ritz and Trump.... Free Internet Pet friendly Fitness center Restaurant(s) Business center Self-service laundry Spa services Accessibility
  3. Used the better bidding PRICELINE link. Denied at $60 - asked if I wanted to resubmit at $74 , said no and did a re-bid with a zone without a 4 star... got the Westin for $64+Taxes... VERY HAPPY... Starwood was telling me $189 or $289 with Parking... Hotwire was saying $87+HST & Taxes... Thanks
  4. Tried bidding last few nights... have gone all the way up to $250 and gotten nothing. Since I can basically book a few of the hotels on the list for around the same price, I might do that. Any idea why that would be?
  5. 4+ stars - budget $150-$250??? zones - Not really sure. Times Square/Midtown East/Soho/Etc.. I have to be in the Union Square area for a day and have another day to see as much as possible. Don't mind cabbing around. Want to check out the Ground Zero/times square/empire state or whatever the heck I have time for :-)
  6. I understand the opaque'ness and how it works. But I'm curious if you have any data or updates to the suggested lists of hotels/per zones.. What I'm saying is I've looked at all the 4-star in a certain zone , they all check out and sounds good, I'd take any of them. So now I'm considering a bidding strategy and suggestions. I'll look at hotwire a bit further though - thanks for your tips.
  7. Well how accurate do we think the priceline possibilities are? I like priceline much better than hotwire....
  8. I'm paranoid of bedbugs. :) I have to travel to NY in October and am looking for a bedbug free hotel/zone. I checked all the 4 star hotels out listed in the New York City (Empire State Building) list and none of them have reports of BB (yet) Any of the Downtown areas should be fine, just want a bug free hotel at a decent price. Is that too much to ask? :-) What would be a decent bidding strategy/price? I need to be in NYC for a Saturday/Sunday for sure and maybe Monday night. Happy to click the BetterBidding PRICELINE links for some advice.
  9. Have now bid as high as $175 via priceline on NMA and LOOP for 4 starts and been denied. Not sure what my next play is going to be here... Might as well just bite the bullet and book a room at Trump.. :) There is another option..... The conference above is showing the Hotel Allegro for $199 - I could just try and book through the conference as a guest... with 90 thousand people, think they'd catch on?
  10. The info I got still shows crazy higher than normal prices... I wonder if there is a point when the blocks on these rooms might open up, and prices will get better? Here is what I'm seeing - a few of these are grayed out... North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast area hotel $239 Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville area hotel - $269 North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast area hotel $239 powered by Hotels.com Chicago Loop area hotel - $269 North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast area hotel $202 Some higher prices stuff in the $400 dollar range...
  11. I am trying to find a single room in Chicago for Wednesday September 15 and checking out the 16th. I have bid up to $130 with no luck so far. Any ideas? I usually don't have this much trouble for Chicago. I can't see anything going on during those days, unless I'm missing something. Thanks
  12. My in-laws just did a PRICELINE NYOP for Chicago and the NMA area. They did not use the Better Bidding links sorry. They bid $75 and got the Hotel Sax for two nights Tuesday August 25 to August 27th They wanted to bid once and hopefully get accepted even though I suggested a lower starting bid. Hotel Sax looks OK. Not sure. I just stayed at the Sheraton and Avenue Hotel. Both Hotels were fantastic.
  13. Use the map on PRICELINE when selecting your original zone to see zones with no 4 star. For example, Skokie is one and one of the airport zones, but not the other. These stay on for future bids though. I just got 3 nights at $75 on NMA - 2 at the Sheraton (which apparently the Hotel is only sub-par but location is awesome) and one night at the Avenue Hotel (which is much better reviewed and looks way nicer) I would go for one of the nicer areas for sure. But then again, this is my first trip to the Windy City. Leaving in 45 minutes!
  14. AS previously mentioned I had booked August 20-22 using Priceline and got the Sheraton 4* for $75 bucks per night. We decided to stay an extra night, when I tried to add a night via priceline or extend my checkout, the Sheraton was no longer available at $74 but rather $119 plus taxes for $144 So we've decided to simply move hotels. I bid once at $70 NMA - Got Denied, Added a location without a 4* and bid $73 , got denied, added another location without a 4* and bid $75 Got the Avenue Hotel in NMA - not too far from the other place. I have no issues with switching hotels the final day. This hotel would have been perfect for the first two days, seems to review and be liked much more than the Shertaon. $75 seems to be the hot spot for NMA this weekend.
  15. Bid $75 bucks for North Michigan Avenue and got the Sheraton Tower 4**** for $75 per night. Not the top rated hotel on Tripadvisor but should do the trick. Still seems like a good deal for downtown Chicago. I dont know. I was a little disappointed at first but it seems people really like the location of the Hotel.
  16. Just booked the Sheraton for one night, bid was $47 bucks and accepted first time. Total $60 US Dollars.
  17. As the question states, are motels ever awarded or is it always brand name hotels? Looking at 1* hotels in small town for name your price, worried about getting a small no-name motel.
  18. Hi, I'm trying to help a friend get a room for this Sunday night in Leamington, ONtario. When I search, they show me 2 hotels in Leamington and 3 more in Chatham, about an hour away. If I do name your own price and offer for Leamington, and should they accept, is it going to be one of the three places listed. Is there possibility I would get answared a room in Chatham or another motel listed that isnt listed? Is it possible to name a price at a specific hotel, say the Ramada? Would they award a room in a totally different Geographic Location. Thanks
  19. Not that it didnt go as planned. I think its a nice hotel and should be fine. I just got my parents hopes up that it would be cambridge. They are still very pleased... They had $35 bucks in the paypal account so a room in Downtown Toronto for $70 cash is pretty freakin good!
  20. Well we went for it, the Hotel wasnt the Cambridge Suites but The Sutton Place. Hopefully its in a decent location for them. Cambridge would have been great.
  21. Hi, I'm trying to help my parents find a decent priced room. They are going to see a recording at the MTV Masonic Theatre at 888 Young St. I believe this would be considered Downtown East and someone can say if I'm wrong but they do want to be fairly close in proximity. I've never used priceline so I'm sticking with hotwire and here is what I've found..Here is an east and west that could be interested... 4-star hotel in Downtown Toronto East $89 Fitness Center Restaurant Business Center High Speed 4 Star in Downtown Toronto West $84 Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center High-speed Internet Access Point Of Interested (Kensington Market) Thanks in advance.... Glad to have found this site :-) And I will use the betterbidding HOTWIRE link to purchase :-)
