Have you ever seen a situation where priceline's regular rating on their direct booking part of their site is different than the "Name Your Own Price" rating? Are they always consistent?
4* Trenton Princeton area of New Jersey - Westin?
Posts last Fall show this to be the Westin. I really dont see how it could be anything else, but I dont see a recent post.
If priceline's regular bookings (not "Name Your Own Price") show other hotels at 3*, can they be 4* on "Name Your Own Price"?
The Marriott and Hyatt Regency are 3*, but are as expensive (shelf rate) as the Westin, but the priceline regular site only shows the Westin as 4*in the immediate area or any surrounding area. This seems like it is a no risk situation.
We have a small pet and must get the Westin or the money will be wasted. It's a gamble but I dont see how this could be anything but the Westin.
What should we do?
It looks like it is not letting me by with a date in the past. I researched and it looks like the same deal is there now for $95 -
Amenities:
Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Tennis Nearby (Best Value) tag.
Hotel was really nice. It is old and possibly not quite what Priceline would call 4-star, but still a great deal for $89.
I got a similar deal on an upcoming stay in New Orleans downtown (4-star, $62, Intercontinental) with hotwire. I will summarize this later when I have time.
I'm not having much success with priceline lately. I wonder if there is some customer deal limit with priceline.
Hotel Name w/ star rating: Hilton Washington and Towers, 4-star
Zone: Washington
Sub-Zone: Embassy Row (Dupont Circle)
Price: $89 (got for 3 rooms, huge savings)
Date: 9/25/07-9/26/07
Amenities: Pool, Restuarant, Fitness Center, Hi-Speed net, others (showed best value)
Bidding Strategy Tried bidding 4-star, 3-star, and 2.5 star in Arlington and towns close to Arlington. Priceline rejected offers all the way up to $144. Then took this offer on Hotwire, expecting the Westin (based on past comments). I'm very happy with the Hilton. I know this hotel and this is a welcomed surprise.
Bid $42 in Roswell-Alpharetta,
8/30 - 9/1
Accepted - Doubletree Atlanta-Roswell
Nice stay for my mom.
Arlington, VA (DC area) - Pricleine didn't accept $95 on priceline for 2.5 star...
It seems like others have gotten better than this. The 2.5 star looks to be the Courtyard and the retail is over $230. Any suggestions on what to bid?
Also, there is a 2 star on hotwire for $80. What could this be? Comfort Inn?

Actually, what I meant was:
Can priceline's STAR rating for a hotel differ from their direct hotel booking offering to their "Name Your Own Price"?
There are several hotels in Princeton, NEw Jersey that are considered 4-star, but priceline only conisiders the Westin as 4-star.
Priceline has been consistent for us, but I'm worried about them changing here.
