Started out by unsuccessfully bidding 2.5* up to $60 using free rebid zones. Dropped to 2* and got the La Quinta Inn - The Woodlands North on my first bid at $40. The best listed rate for this hotel on that date is $82, so not a bad deal.

I believe direct booking rate at that Hyatt was $139-$149 for those weekend nights. Other rates I was finding were for hotels like Travelodge, Rodeway Inn, and other such 1* properties, and most were running in the $70's and $80's and up. Rather pricey for what can often be rather nasting lodging.

I redeemed Hyatt hotel points for a room at the Hyatt Place Northwest/Med Center -- no cost other than spent points. :)

I needed one room in San Antonio for the listed weekend (Fri and Sat nights). I don't know if something was happening that had occupancy high that weekend, but I had no success with the following bids which seemed high compared to what others reported in the past for these zones: Using free rebid zones I bid for 2* up through $58, willing to accept Northwest, Med Center, and Airport zones. No luck. Using a couple of additional free rebid zones for 2.5*, I bid the same three zones up through $100, at which point I gave up and booked a room another way. Anybody know if San Antonio has just gone up in price that much, or if I just hit an exceptionally busy weekend??

Possible Hotel Re-Bid Combinations I've successfully used the strategy of re-bidding with extra zones several times now, and each time I've had to re-figure the possible combinations for each case. I thought I'd post a couple of lists of re-bid combinations that might save others some work. If this doesn't make sense to you, please read through the above posts to gain an understanding of the basic strategy. Please post a reply if I've made a mistake somewhere in the lists or if Priceline would consider them a repeat bid and I'll correct them! In each case below, Zone A is where you're wanting to stay. The other zones (B, C, D, etc.) are "free re-bid zones" that only have hotels with star ratings below what you're bidding. Here goes... Two Re-Bid Zones (B, C): A AB AC ABC Three Re-Bid Zones (B, C, D): A AB AC AD ABC ABD ACD ABCD Four Re-Bid Zones (B, C, D, E): A AB AC AD AE ABC ABD ABE ACD ACE ADE ABCD ABCE ABDE ACDE ABCDE To use all the multiple re-bids you'll have to log out and back in between most of the bids, of course, but you can figure out when this is required. Started bidding at $30 (using free re-bid zones with only 2-1/2* hotels) and got a hit at $46. The Sheraton Denver West is an excellent hotel, in excellent condition. Checked their website and their best weekend rate posted at the time was $89, but has currently increased to $99 to $119. Best posted weekday rates are showing around $169!

Using multiple free re-bid zones in the Dallas area for 3* hotels, I started bidding at $24 and increased my bid by $2 each step. I ended up with a successful bid at The Southfork Hotel for $40. Best rate I could find on their website for that night was $89 + tax, so not bad at all. $40 + $13.03 tax = $53.03 Total The hotel is a decent, well-kept, full-service property right along I-45 in Plano. Clean and comfortable, but if you look closely the property is showing it's age. This was probably THE place to be back when they were filming "Dallas" at Southfork Ranch a few miles away!

$45 - 9/13/07; 3 nights Based on what I saw in these forums, prices in the area seemed rather high, so I bid $45 on a 2*, and got upgraded to a 3*. I think this is the best I've done on Priceline! Current rates listed for this hotel are $135-$145. I don't know if bidding for 3 nights helped, or perhaps that 2 of the nights are on the weekend, but this seems like a better deal than I would have expected for this area. Thoughts?
