  1. Bidding 2-1/2* on both Norfolk Airport and Norfolk Naval Base-Tidewater, using the one rebid zone, scored this hotel at $43. Almost exactly 50% of their posted rate! Looks like a nice beachfront hotel on the bay, with free breakfast. As always, started bidding with PRICELINE link...
  2. Started bidding at $36 since I saw a few low-ball wins posted here, and left open to several zones, since Asheville isn't that big (right?). Scored 2 rooms at $40 each, roughly 50% of posted rate. Started bidding from PRICELINE link!
  3. Started bidding at $40 for 2*. Finally scored at $52, and upgraded to 2-1/2*. Posted rate is currently $75 for this hotel. Hope it's decent! As always, followed PRICELINE link to start bidding...!
  4. Starting bidding 2-1/2* low, and incremented using rebid zones. Bumped me up to 3* and booked at $52. With fees it's exactly 50% of posted rate (with taxes), so nicely discounted. The only disappointments are no free breakfast, and $20/night to park. As always, started bidding using Priceline link!
  5. Rejected at $44. Using free rebid zone, $48 was accepted. Included Sandy South Draper zone in all bids as I would have been OK with that area as well. Looks like a recently renovated property. There's currently a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal on Priceline that looks like this property, currently at $52. Started bidding using PRICELINE link above.
  6. Started at $31 and scored at $39, using rebid zones. Looks like a decent property with free breakfast. Best current posted rate for this hotel is $76.50, so not a bad deal this time! As always, began my search using PRICELINE link....
  7. Bidding 2.5*, I began at $37 and climbed in $3 increments using a couple of rebid zones. Priceline bumped it up to 3* and scored at $46. With tax and fees it will be $61.09. Best available rate on this hotel is $109 + tax = $127.35, so better than 50% off this time! As always, started my bidding with PRICELINE link above.
  8. Bidding 2-1/2 star, and willing to accept Airport (SAT) zone as an alternate, I started at $30. No love at $30 or $34, then scored this one at $38 for Friday night. About 50% of this Fairfield's posted weekend rate. Free breakfast. I'm satisfied! As always, started my bidding using the PRICELINE link above.
  9. Started bidding at $29 and scored this hotel at $32. It looks like this hotel is on the Priceline list on this site as "not yet reported". I guess a win has now been reported here! This was a Friday night, so this property may not go so cheap on weekdays. Posted rate was $74, so a nice savings this time. As always, started bidding from this site's PRICELINE link above!
  10. Using Walsenburg, CO and Raton, NM (acceptable alternate) as rebid zones, I incrementally increased bids until scoring this property at $62. I think the posted rate was about $72, so after factoring in Priceline's fee I probably saved a whopping $5 on this stay. Oh well. The property was fine.
  11. Scored this one on first bid at $40, so success could be found a few $$ cheaper if you try... I don't see this one on the Priceline hotel list here yet, so another one to add. Very decent property. Undergoing a minor renovation to the lobby and public area, but nothing disruptive. Made-to-order omelette's as part of the free breakfast, too! Posted rate was $80, so 50% savings! As always, started bidding with the PRICELINE link on this site.
  12. Used the Ft Worth South rebid zone to incrementally increase bids until scoring this property at $41. This hotel address is 4485 North I-35, so not the same property as the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites - University Area. Looks like it may be a new one to add to the BetterBidding Priceline hotel list? The only one listed for Denton is a 3*, and this one is 2-1/2*. Nice property. Everything you'd expect from a Holiday Inn Express property. Posted rate here was $95, so better than 50% off! Of course, used the PRICELINE link above!
  13. Increasing my bids in $5 increments I failed at $70, then got this hotel at $75. I was bidding 2*, but was upgraded to 2-1/2* on this win. The hotel is listed online for these dates at about $93/night, so not a real great deal this time, once you factor in Priceline's fee (~$5/nt). I hope the hotel is decent. From the looks of the photos and reviews, 2-1/2* may be a bit on the generous side. Of course, started bidding with PRICELINE link.
  14. The more I thought about it, the more sense it made to avoid Monday morning Chicago traffic as we check out, heading east toward Indiana and Michigan, by staying to the south of Chicago. I bid 2* in the Hammond, Holland-Lansing, and Markham-Oak Forest zones, and got a win at $60. We managed to stay within our budget, avoid hotel parking fees, and will get free breakfast as a bonus for staying at a cheaper hotel! :-) Thanks again for your help, Aaron -- much appreciated!!
  15. I was looking for something in Chicago South with easy access to downtown Chicago from the suburbs. I bid 2* on 3 zones: Hammond, Holland-Lansing, and Markham-Oak Forest. Rejected at $55, then a win on this hotel at $60. From the looks of the hotel website this appears to be a very nice 2*. Free breakfast and free parking. I can't resist checking a hotel's website to see what I saved, and this room would have run us $130 for these nights. Thanks Negotiator! :D As always, started bidding with the PRICELINE link.
  16. I was actually bidding 3* in the Southfield zone and was upgraded to 4*. PRICELINE had a $7 Bonus Cash running at the time. I was rejected for 3* at $52 ($45 + $7 Bonus), then using the one free rebid zone I scored at $57 ($50 +$7 Bonus)! Best posted rate on The Westin's website at the time was $149, so a nice discount on a 4* hotel! Of course, started my bidding using the PRICELINE link!!
  17. HOTWIRE is only showing one hotel in the Lincoln Park area, at $193. Yikes. Since we're driving in from the south on Saturday evening and leaving to the south on Monday morning, the north suburbs you mentioned probably won't work so good for us. Time to adjust strategy... I'm looking at Chicago South now, thinking we'll drive into downtown for the day on Sunday and park at Navy Pier or nearby. The zones in Chicago South that look reasonable are 1, 2, & 4 (Hammond, Holland-Lansing, and Markham). I'm thinking we can bid 2-1/2* and meet our budget easily and not likely have to pay for hotel parking that far south. No rebid zones for 2-1/2* in that region, but we've got a few days for PRICELINE bidding. Your thoughts? Are those zones in a reasonably safe area?
  18. Thanks for the info! There will be 2 adults (+3 kids, but they're young and we travel with little beds for them...) I'd like to keep it under $75/night. We're driving, and one thing that has me concerned about the downtown area hotels is paying for hotel parking. I've seen a comment or two in reviews that mention $40-$50/nt. hotel parking fees, which would blow out any savings we got on the room. :o If we stay farther out I suppose we'd have to pay to park downtown when we drive in, but I wonder if we should consider zones like Skokie or O'Hare? We'll be entering and leaving Chicago from the south, but I've heard south Chicago isn't so nice... Don't know how accurate that is -- maybe Chicago South area is OK. Thanks for the help!!
  19. I'm looking for a reasonable zone to stay in for a short visit with the family to Chicago on 8/11-8/13/12 and was considering Lincoln Park. We'll be hitting tourist attractions in and around downtown. The problem is I don't see any successful bids listed anywhere on this site for Lincoln Park, nor do I see any hotels listed for that zone in the Priceline hotel lists here! Why the absence of data on this zone? Does anybody know if this zone is new??? Thanks!!
  20. Started bidding 2-1/2* at $40, incrementing by $3 with free rebid zones. Scored the Houston/Willowbrook Wingate by Wyndham 2 bids later. Looks like a decent hotel. Free breakfast. Their best posted rate for this hotel that night was $79, so after fees are factored in, I saved about 33%. Of course, started my bidding with the PRICELINE link!
  21. No free rebid zones in Dallas at 2.5*, so a little more tedious than usual. Incrementing bids by $5, no bites at $40, but offered an immediate rebid at $46, which I took. From Comfort Suites website this property claims to be newly renovated, so should be nice. Compared to their posted rates I saved about 40%; I'm satisfied. It looks like rates are lower on weekend nights at this property, so you might start a little lower and save a few $$. As always, used the PRICELINE links above!
  22. Using rebid zones I bid in increments of $3. Failed at $53, then scored at $56. The best listed rate for this hotel on that night was $134. :) **HIGH FIVE** once again to "The Negotiator"!
  23. Using the multitude of free rebid zones in Houston, I incremented bids to finally score at $41. I've booked at this Marriott in the past, and they seem to consistently keep well-priced Priceline inventory available. The best posted rate for this hotel was $99 per night, so it's a great deal! Right now (July 2011) the hotel's lobby is in the midst of a major upgrade, with most of it blocked off and a temporary front desk operating in a side room. The good news is that they overhauled the rooms first, so everything in the rooms is brand new as of Spring 2011! The rooms are MUCH nicer than they were the last time I booked this Marriott. Well worthy of its 3.5* rating now. As always, clicked through the PRICELINE link!
  24. I tried for a 3* in this zone, but gave up when still no hits at $60. Dropped to 2*, fail at $30, score at $35. Good thing. This hotel was very clean and nice, and a great deal at 50% of their regular $70 rate. Recommended! As always, used PRICELINE link!
  25. Started at $30, increasing bids by $4, and booked at $46. I was surprised a Super 8 was 2*, since they're usually lower quality and are even listed in the Priceline examples as 1*. The breakfast was very meager even by econo hotel standards, but the room was fine. Savings wasn't great, since after Priceline fees their regular rate was only about $15 more. As always, used the PRICELINE link above!
