  1. Woot, first bid! (Always wondering if I started too high...) Last minute trip to visit new exhibit at Exploratorium tomorrow, extending it to see new SF MOMA on Saturday. After taxes & fees: $133.73 As always, thanks for the great resource!
  2. Room (2 doubles) was fine, but "HDTV" only had component input, no HDMI? :-} Coffee machine offered Starbucks filter pouches. In-room safe. No fridge. Hotel exteriors and hallways are showing some wear. We were close to the elevator, so a little noisy. Other notes: no free wi-fi in the rooms, only in the lobby, as I guess is standard at "higher end" hotels. *Sigh* Oh, found cheaper parking one block away here: http://www2.impark.com/ps/affiliates/pages/en-communitylinks_fishermanswharf_sf.aspx?lang=en&region=sanfranciscobayarea Prices listed are either outdated, inaccurate, or just plain wrong -- using the prepaid parking machine I was presented with two choices, $18 for the rest of the day, or $30 overnight. Of course no in-out privileges, but that was fine as we just walked or took the trolley where we needed to go. There's a possibility that if we paid via the phone or the paybyphone.com we could've only spent $18 (rest of the day) + $8 (early bird special next morning), but I wasn't confident about leaving my car overnight without having explicitly paid to do so. (Garage gets locked up at 11PM nightly.)
  3. Same day spur-of-the-moment trip... Bid 4* Financial District at $95, added Fisherman's Wharf at $99, then 3.5* at $102. Room Subtotal: $102.00 Taxes & Fees: $24.48 Total Charges: $126.48 Comparison on Sheraton's website: Prepaid Rate for 2 Double Beds or 1 King Bed: USD 129.00 Per Room / Night + charges & taxes = USD 150.09 As always, thanks for the great work you do here! NOTE: Self-parking is $50/day + TAX. :-O
  4. Ah, so the good news - won tickets to this amazing music festival in Napa Valley. The bad news, apparently everybody and their brother cannot pass up this festival and are booking the heck out of every hotel, inn, and outhouse in Napa Valley: http://napavalleyregister.com/news/local/months-before-event-hotel-rooms-scarce-for-bottlerock-concerts/article_ac54027a-7808-11e2-ba2e-0019bb2963f4.html Our backup is crashing with my brother-in-law and his family in Vallejo, about 30 minutes away. But I'd love to be within walking distance. Or at least a shorter drive... Do you guys think there's any chance that there would be any chance in heck of the hotels in downtown Napa (or < 5 miles) listing rooms on Priceline or Hotwire? Would appreciate any advice. Thanks!
  5. Whoops, forgot to do Description right, sorry: $109 ... 7/15/12-7/17/12 Looking to stay near the Grand Canyon for two nights. Hotwire is offering me a $100 3* in Williams, which I'm pretty sure is the Holiday Inn from previous wins on this board. But this $109 3.5* in Williams doesn't seem to match anything on the list: Recommended: In 90% of Hotwire customer reviews. Amenities: Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Laundry Facilities (self-service), Free Breakfast Any guesses? Thanks!
  6. Been a while since I've done this. Forgot how nerve-wracking it is... Started with Hollywood at $90. Got nothing. Added Lawndale at $99. Nada. Desperate, added Redondo at $120. Hit! I suppose I shouldn't complain. Rack rate is $285, minimum, and it appears to be some kind of landmark. ;-} Thanks guys.
