  1. I was hoping for this hotel, so I am glad I got it. The star rating for the hotel changed from 3 to 2.5, but I was pretty sure it was the correct hotel when I saw the title and the amenities and I noticed that the star rating was also 2.5 on Expedia.

    It showed as this.

    "Asheville West area all-suites hotel"

FULL AMENITIES: Free breakfast, Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower

    Thanks.

  2. Thanks, I was very happy that we got this particular hotel.

However, I was disappointed in the fact that the taxes and fees for a two-night's stay was $42, it seems high. I checked Expe.dia and although the room rate was about $60 a night higher, the taxes and fees were actually $2 less ($40 total).

This does not make sense to me because the tax rate should be a fixed percentage (12.5%) and the fees should be either a flat rate or a percentage. I called Hot.wire and they just gave me a canned "the taxes and fees are averaged out for hotels in the area, because we don't know which hotel you are going to get" response. This did not make sense to me either since they know which hotel it is before they charge the taxes and fees.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

  3. I noticed a while back that the hotel list format was changed and that with the new format you can no longer do a "find on this page".

Could we have that feature back? It was very useful to be able to search for amenities when narrowing down large areas with a lot of hotels (Orlando) to search for rarely offered amenities like golf, or 1 bedroom, etc.

  5. I think you misunderstood my post. I am very happy with this purchase as it exactly the hotel that I thought I was going to get based on the research that I did on this great site. :D

Even though the amenities did not match perfectly I was pretty sure what I was getting based on the Resort and 1BR amenities since no other properties in the area had these.

Actually my only concern with the Hotwire 4.0 TA rating was the fact that it did not match the rating on the TA site so it made the purchase feel a little riskier. However, thanks for the tip about calling Hotwire - I'll see if I can get some Hotwire bucks out of it. :o

  6. Used HOTWIRE link and searched for Daytona Beach, FL 10/13-10/14.

This property showed up as "Ormond Beach area condo".

Booked for $82, currently showing on hotels.com for $101.

Please update the Hotwire Hotel list amenities:

Resort, Beachfront Property, 1 Bedroom Suite,

Fully-equipped Kitchen, Indoor pool(s), Daily Housekeeping,

    Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s),

24-hour Front Desk, Laundry Facilities (self-service), High-Speed Internet Access,

    Free Parking, Free Internet

Also NOTE: This hotel showed a Trip Advisor rating of 4 full stars on the Hotwire site, but on the TripAdvisor site it only received 3.5 stars so it was a little deceiving.

  7. Booked separately. This is a new amenities list for this hotel. I originally thought it might be the Gaylord Palms because I thought maybe they just added the accessibility amenities and the the old list for the Omni it did not have "Smoke Free" listed. However, Aaron pointed out that this was probably the Omni due to the Tripadvisor rating. After he mentioned that I also noted that the Omni was selling rooms on other travel sites for $99/nt for that weekend while the Gaylord was at $239/nt for that weekend so I was pretty sure that Aaron was right.

I used the HOTWIRE link to book. The updated amenities are listed below.

    10/5/12 - $80

    10/6/12 - $77 (booked first)

    Amenities

Resort Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center

    Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center

High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby

Spa Services Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf

Free Internet Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility

Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking

    Roll-in shower

  8. Has anyone else noticed that when you search with kids, sometimes you get less hotel listings than if you search with kids? I guess it makes sense because they may give you a room with only one bed, but what if the 2 adults want separate beds?

Also, what happens if you book with just 2 adults, but you show up with 2 adults and 2 kids? Can they cancel the room? Has anyone had any problem with this?

  9. Heads up, I did not see this in the Hotel list for Hotwire - FL. This is the second time I got this hotel thinking I was going to get the Double-Tree or the Monumental because it has the same amenities - Pool,Restaurant,Business,High-Speed Internet.

I wasn't impressed when I stayed here last time. The rooms are large but worn. I don't consider this a 3.5 star hotel, but that's just me.

BTW, I used the HOTWIRE link to book.

  10. $90 - 9/14 & 9/15

    $61 - 9/16

It's my first time, so after reading a bunch of different posts, I was confused thinking that the Gaylord Palms was in the Seaworld area. Seeing that other people got it for $93 I started a little lower.

Started out bidding 9/14 & 9/15 in Orlando (Seaworld) area (by mistake):

Starting bid - $85 - Not won, kept adding areas that did not have 4* or Resorts

    $87 - Not won

    $90 - Not won

    $93 - Not won

    $100 - Not won

    $105 - Not won

    $110 - Not won

    $117 - Not won

Then I finally realized that the Gaylord was in the WDW area, I added the WDW area and dropped my bid to $90 figuring that I would probably get the Gaylord for $93 and I only had a few more tries left (running out of areas). Then bingo, I got a accepted right away at $90, but not for the Gaylord, instead the Hilton accepted my offer. After a quick check at Travelocity I realized that I was getting the same rate as the Travelocity "Good Buy" rate. Oh well, that's what I get for not thoroughly researching.

To make myself feel better, I bid in the same area (WDW) starting at $55 for 1 night 9/16 - got denied, then bid $61 and was accepted again by the Hilton. I know I should have probably just added the extra night through Priceline, but I didn't want to pay the same rate as the other 2 nights. Hopefully they will not make me switch rooms for the last night.

So basically I probably could have gotten all 3 nights for $61 each.
