Wow I am a douche bag. I looked at my confirmation this morning and I booked 11th to 13th. (Wrong weekend) Called Priceline and they were excellent and offered to cancel my reservation based on the assumption I would rebook. They charged me 1 night as cancellation fee $55 and refunded the other night. When I rebook they asked me to fill out a request for refund for the cancellation fee of $55 and they will refund it to me. So with all this being said they charged me a $25 change fee (which I am more than happy to pay for being an idiot) I am going to rebid with same technique and will repost results. WOW that is what I get for booking at 12 am

Hi All, I was sucessful in bidding for a convertible for my honeymoon coming up next week. I was able to get the convertible from AVIS for $34/day + fees. I am very excited about this. I originally bid $28 and was counter offered $34. Now I am thinking I could have waited the 72 hours and rebid $30-$32 but with not many days left until we leave I didn't want to risk it. I am happy that the price I am paying for the convertible is the regular price through Expedia for a full size. Now I just hope the wife has enough trunk space to fit all the shopping bags in. Does anyone have any experience renting a convertible with AVIS in the SoCal area?

I used the SavingsBarn link and bid sucessfully for $65 for Hilton Costa Mesa. I started with Newport + Costa Mesa for $50, rejected added Anaheim Hills, $53, rejected added Buena Park, $56, rejected added Disneyland, $59, rejected added Fullerton, $62, rejected added Laguna Beach, $65.... accepted. I am very very happy about this win. 2 nights... checkin Oct/3 and checkout Oct/5 (Also added a 5 day 18 hour car rental from Avis from San Diego pickup/dropoff - Convertible bid $28 got countered $34 - I took it) The 72 hours wait time to rebid scared me a little!

Hello All, I set out to not pay much money at all for my hotel room for the night before we fly out of Syracuse; however when I realized that the few extra bucks could get me a nicer 3* hotel I said... why not. I bid the Syracuse East Area 3* for $55, rejected. Priceline then asked if I would like to rebid again right away because of the area and zone. It gave me the option of adding a minimum of $15 to make it total of $70. I said that sounds pretty good. I ended up getting the DoubleTree that I wanted so I am very happy. My stay is one night Oct/2. Hotel Website was $135/night with Expedia @ $136/night. I am very happy with win Thanks, Richard

Good News all, I was sucessful in bidding for 2 nights on Oct/6 and Oct/7 for $100 and I was awarded Hilton San Diego Resort. I attempted the "extend your stay" option for Oct/8 and was denied. Do you have any suggestions for extending this stay for this hotel? I may have to go down to a 3.5* or raise my price for the next night or should I wait? This is the strategy I used to win this hotel: San Diego Coastal + Coronado for $74, rejected added Del Mar for $80, rejected added East County for $85, rejected added Escondido for $90, rejected added Miramar for $95, rejected added Mission Valley for $100, accepted. Now time to work on the other hotels, for Los Angeles on Oct/5 for 1 night and Anaheim for 2 nights on Oct/3 and Oct/4. Thanks for all the help everyone. BigRich

Tried Again tonight the previous posted results are the same. I am going to explare other options for nights where we can travel to and such. Any ideas on a travel path. Land in San Diego on the Wed, Oct 3rd 12pm Leave San Diego on Tue, Oct 9th 6am. I am willing to stay anywhere that is nice keeping in mind I must visit SeaWorld and Disneyland. Thanks, Richard

I don't think so! The reason why I say that is because we fly out Oct/9 from San Diego Maybe the possibility of Staying in a Downtown Hotel for the Oct/9. Why what are you thinking by asking that question?

Not as of yet. I beleive I am going to retry it tonight. I was originally looking for confirmation that the idea that San Diego is cheaper on the weekends while Disneyland is cheaper during the week. I beleive that the above statement is in fact true and therefore I will go ahead and retry the strategy first suggested above. I will retry and post outcome. thanks again for the support and help!

On 10/3 and 10/4 we would be staying in Anaheim/Disneyland area. On 10/5 would Los Angeles area and then 10/6, 10/7 and 10/8 back in San Diego. 10/3 Wednesday San Diego (Stay in Anaheim) 10/4 Thurdsay Disneyland (Stay in Anaheim) 10/5 Friday Los Angeles (Stay in LA) 10/6 Saturday Los Angeles (Stay in San Diego) 10/7 Sunday Los Angeles (Stay in San Diego) 10/8 Monday Sea World (Stay in San Diego) 10/9 Tuesday (Fly out in the morning) I think this set up will allow for better hotel purchases and less busy lines at Disneyland and Sea World. I noticed that alot of the water parks in SoCal are closed in October or am I blind. thanks, Rich

I am not necessarily apposed to the downtown area, but I am slightly turned off the high price of parking down there. I am going to try and move the dates to 3 nights from the Oct/6 to Oct/9. As you can tell we are travelling all over SoCal so I am somewhat flexible. I somewhat have my heart set on Torrey Pines - Hilton...fingers crossed!

I am may be wanting to switch my dates to the weekend or something of that nature. It appears all the 4* hotels in the San Diego area (Coronado & Coastal) are all drastically cheaper on the weekends based on Expedia and Travelocity. Example being the Hilton Torrey Pines Wednesday night $349, Saturday night $183. Would this mean I am more likely to get the 4* on the Saturday for my budget of $120? If so I may need to make an adjustment to our travel schedule. It doesn't appear this theory of cheaper weekends applies to Disneyland area, which is where we going to head on the thursday/friday. Hi all, Is it possible in the Hotwire hotel list to have the Doubletree - Disneyland South Pool,Fitness,Business,Restaurant 3*. Currently I only see the exact description on Hotwire for sale listed as Disneyland North. I also cannot find any of the currently FOR SALE hotels on Hotwire in Disneyland North that match anything to the Hotel List on this forum. I am willing to spend max $65/night for 3* in Disenyland North/South for 2 nights Oct/4 & Oct/5. thanks in advance, Richard

At this point I would say max bid would be $115. Do you think it is possible to get a 4* for less?

Hi All, I am looking for the best place to stay when visiting Disneyland. I will be on my honeymoon and interested in saving a few bucks but being able to possibly stay in the best hotels. I will be staying in Anaheim for 2 nights and traveling througout SoCal for the remainder (posted in sepearate threads). Check in Oct/4 Check out Oct/6. Things I am willing to consider is proximity to Disneyland, comfort of the beds in the hotel, minimum 3* but I do prefer 4*. The cost of the parking is a concern as well. Any advice or aid in a bidding strategy would be great. My maximum budget would be in the neighbourhood of $100 a night, with $65-70 being ideal. Hi all, I will be travelling out of SYR on October 3 and would like a hotel for 1 night from Oct/2 to Oct/3. Where is the best place to try and stay and can you suggest a bidding strategy for getting hotel in this area. I would like a CLEAN place with a hot shower for as cheap as possible. My max budget for that night would be $50. Proximity is close for the airport, but more important is the ability to park my car there while I am gone for the week.
