  1. I tried last week from $100- $149. Today I started at $160 - Financial District $175 - added Union Square East $185 - added Fishermans' Wharf $190- added Union Square West $201 - added Lombard Street accepted $201 + $42 in taxes and fees = $243. The hotel website has $360 as their best price Not bad for 15 minutes work.
  2. I am trying to book for early January and the usual 4* hotels are in the $3-400 a night range . I found this hotel on PRICELINE EXPRESS Amenities are restaurant , business center, indoor /outdoor pool. The Betterbidding hotel list offers 4 possibilites. 2 of them would be nice but 2 of them are far north. Any ideas on how to determine which property this is?
  3. Starting bidding Downtown 3 stars - $45 Then bid Downtown 3 stars $55 - rejected and was offered a free bid added Quebec City airport and bid $59 - rejected added Pinetrest? and bid $64 - accepted. taxes and fee of $18 brings it up to $83 total
  4. I was trying for the Best Western Plus South and had bid for a couple of days. I am leaving today so I tried one last time $63 2 1/2 * one night. - rejected. I added downtown knowing that there aren't any hotels below 3* upped my bid to $65 and ended up with Courtyard by Marriot. It's an nice hotel. The only problem is being downtown they charge $22 a night for parking. The website price is $139.
  5. I bid $65 based on my previous bids when I stayed here in September. I got it on first bid. This property is probably 1 year old, it also serves a hot breakfast buffet which was not listed in the amenities. It has a pool with a 2 storey waterslide, hot tub, a decent workout room and nice lobby. The rooms are large with fridges and coffeemakers. It' listed as 2 1/2 stars but I would put it as being more of a 3 star.
  6. I was looking for the Comfort Inn in Pointe Claire as I've bid successfully for this property and I got the Quality Inn instead. It's closer to the airport and it will do fine. Bid $51 - picked Dorval Airport area only Won on the first bid $51 bid $16 fees $67 total used the PRICELINE portal above

It looks nice . Used the PRICELINE link above
  8. Thanks for getting back to me, TrevorK. I ended up booking another hotel through PRICELINE.

I bid Las Rambas South - $90 - rejected free bid added Les Corts- Sants and upped it to $95 Got the Hotel Expo Barcelona When I looked it up on Google it says that I could have got the hotel for $97 with lower fees and taxes through Booking.com However, I am pleased with the property and its location.
  12. TrevorK - your post says $0 - what did you end up getting this hotel for? Is it near the cruise ship port?

  14. I used the BiddingHelper.com and checked PRICELINE. The best 3 star was $175 the best 4 star rate was $230.
  15. I have been bidding without success this evening for 2 nights in Paris. I started with St. Germain, Eiffel Tower - $90 - rejected added Latin Quarter $95 -rejected added Opera East $100 - rejected added Champs d'elysee $100 - rejected any suggestions?
  16. After looking at recent bids I bid for only the Vancouver Airport zone 3 star , bid $45 - declined Later tried same criteria bid $48 - declined offered free bid if I would go up by $12 . Waited 2 days and today bid $50. and it was accepted.
  17. Bid $65. for 3 stars Edmonton South - rejected added Stoney Plain which does not have any 3 stars and raised bid to $70. - rejected waited 2 days Bid $75 - accepted. I've stayed here before and it's more of a 3.5 star hotel. I'm pleased with my win. By the way, Hotwire seemed to be offering the hotel for $93. so I figured $75 plus fees was as high as I was going to go.
  18. This is a definite 4 star hotel. The cruise lines use it for passengers who are arriving the night before departure. It is located on the east side of the Inter-coastal waterway about a 20 minute walk from the ships. It is s a $6.10 taxi ride from the port to the hotel but there's a $10 minimum charge. The lobby is large with a bar overlooking the pools and gardens. There are 2 floors of rooms surrounding the pool garden area. A 17 story tower is off of the lobby. Large yachts are moored around the property. I had Room 2012, a ground floor handicapped room on the west side of the pools. It had 2 double beds and was a large room. A small cement patio had 2 chairs and a table. The pool area consists of 3 pools; a hot tub, a heated pool and a cool pool. There's a pool bar with a limited menu near the pools. Another resturant is located on the edge of the property near the Inter-coastal Waterway. Breakfast is served in a dining area off the lobby for $20. Service was excellent. We ran out of tissues at 10:30 and had a new box within 5 minutes of calling the front desk. A trolley bus takes you to the beach and the Galleria shopping mall for 50 cents or $2 a day for unlimited trips. The stop is across the street from the hotel. This is a very nice hotel.
  19. I spent 5 days at the Sheraton Yankee Clipper now known as the Sheraton Ft. Lauderdale Beach resort. It is located right on the beach south of the municipal beach. The hotel is 55 years old and it has been upgraded over the years. According to Trip Adviser reports there have been bed bugs and problems in the main building. We requested either the Beach building or the South building and got the South Building Rm 348. It was a large room with 2 queen beds, a dresser, large flat screen TV , work table and chair as well as a small round table and chair. Parking was $20 self park and more for valet parking. There is a small internet area with 4 computers with complimentary internet useage and a printer for printing out tickets. There's a Starbucks counter which was busy in the morning. In addition there's a bar with windows facing out into the pool. A Mexican restaurant was well patronized while we were there. Wifi is available at a charge but if you sign up for Starwood membership you get it for free as well as free bottled water. Stores and restaurants were 2 blocks north and the marina where the Jungle Queen boat tour leaves. There are 2 pools, one at the center of the hotel and another down overlooking the beach. Beach chairs are free. Umbrellas and gazebos are an additional charge. There's a bar with food service so you do not have to leave the pool-beach area. In all I found this to be a good hotel.
  20. The Ft. Lauderdale shuttle bus is only 50 cents each or $2 a day for unlimited rides. It goes right past the beach and operates until 6:30pm
  21. Ask for a corner room overlooking the pool. They have 2 balconies, one overlooking the pool and the other overlooking the parking lot and small ocean views. I think the rooms are slightly larger as well.,
  22. I stayed there last year. It's a nice hotel. Be sure to ask for a corner room. It will have 2 balconies.
  23. Trying to get the Westin Hollywood or the Crown Plaza Hollywood I bid 4* $72 a night based on what I saw here. Rejected Upped the bid to $75 and added Ft. Lauderdale Beach Accepted my wife just read hotel reviews ( 2009 & 2010) complaining about it being dirty and having bed bugs. I hope it's improved by the time we get there.
  24. Based on what I was reading for bids I tried getting Lake George for these dates about a week ago. I started at $45 but I was turned down. I tried again today after bidding up to $59 with no luck I bid Lake George 3* $60. No luck I changed it to Lake George and Saratoga Springs and raised it to $61. and I got the Saratoga Hilton I probably could have got it for less but Lake George hotels were more popular so I got this. I've never been here so I hope it's nice.
