I recently bid up to $85 for a 4* in Victoria (hoping it would be the Empress) but was rejected. Since I needed transportation there from Vancouver, I found the website- www.pacificcoach.com - which offers round-trip transportation, by bus and ferry, from Vancouver to Victoria. They also are offering a package deal which includes one night lodging at the Empress and round-trip transportation from Vancouver for $125canadian. This seems like a good deal since the regular rate for the room is over $200. This has worked out perfect for me as the bus going back will take me straight to the Vancouver Airport. This offer is good thru May 31, 2004. Hopefully, someone might be able take advantage of this.

I'm really happy about this one. I knew there was a jazzfest over the weekend( I'm supposed to go to N.O. for a wedding) so I decided to bid starting on Sunday. I began with 4* french quarter at $45 then added garden district and remained at $45. Both were rejected so I added CBD and $2 to the bid making it $47 and I got JW Marriott. The only problem is I have to worry about where I'll stay on Friday and Saturday. Guess we'll have to stay with family and count the hours till we check into the hotel! :)

My sister and a friend had been bidding with no luck. I started at $30 and worked my way to $45 where I won the bid. Maybe the Hyatt is sold out. My sister was happy.

I'm pretty bummed I got this hotel and blame it on my lack of patience. I still had alot of time before I needed the room but I got antsy. I started bidding on a 4* and went all the way to $60 and was rejected. I then dropped to a 3* and started a new bid at $45. I should have stopped when rejected at $50 and waited till the date got closer but...... Anyway, all of the reviews of this hotel are pretty bad and most of the people on TOB paid about $20 less than the $55 bid I won it on. I do the same thing in Las Vegas, I just don't know when to stop! :) I have also been bidding for Victoria for one night but with no free re-bids I have gone up to $70 for a 4* and been rejected. That one I have to wait for as I really don't want to bid over $80.

I first checked Orbitz and Expedia and found that Hotwire was about $10 per day less for a mid size car so I took it. I thought it was a good deal so I didn't even try Priceline.

Thereuare-That is a really great list but recently, the trend in Las Vegas is to put the 'sin' back in sin city. The new motto is "What happens here stays here". My friend just got back yesterday from Vegas, she goes about 10 times a year, and said the pirate show at Treasure Island is gone. However, it's been replaced by a new show called the "Sirens of TI'. My friend saw it and said it consists of some sleazy girls being chased around by pirates. I don't think her husband would describe it that way. :) There has also been a resurgence in gentleman's clubs but there is no question that there still is lots of attractions for families with children. As far as WillTravel's question - I think teenagers would love Las Vegas! I'm going in about a week and I'll let you know if it still seems family friendly.

Wishing you a belated happy birthday Thereuare! Hope it was a great one. Now down to business. I placed bid thru Savings Barn and started at $65 for 4* in Oxford. Most of the hotels appeared to be $150 plus per night. This bid was rejected so I lowered down to 3* and kept the amount at $65 and got the Eastgate Hotel. It appears to be in a good central location so I will report on it when I get back. I don't worry too much about the quality of the hotels I will be staying at in England but rather how I will manage to drive on the left hand side of the road! :)

Started at $50 with a 5* bid- rejected, then a 4* bid at $55 was rejected. I dropped down to 3* and raise my bid to $60- again rejected. I then bid for two days instead of three. I raised my bid to $65 and tried 5* and 4* and then I got it at 3*. I did use the bonus money that was sent to an e-mail of mine that I normally don't use for priceline bids.

This hotel is in the Bloomsbury / Marble arch zone. I originally was trying for Westminster and Mayfair zones. I went up to $70 and then added Bloomsbury/Marble Arch and raised my bid by 2 dollars. What I should have done was a new bid at a lower price in the Bloomsbury zone but, of course , I got impatient and wasn't thinking. I have a feeling I probably overbid but oh well. :) I checked Travelocity and this hotel is going for $295 a night on my dates. All the reviews of this hotel sound really nice so I'm happy.

I just got back from a 5 night stay at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. It was acceptable but, in my opinion , this hotel does not rate a 4 star. I would not call it a luxury hotel. The service was average to below average. It took forever for someone to answer the phone and there were not enough people staffing the concierge desk. For the 5 nights we stayed there we only got the two bars of soap that were in the room when we checked in. The shampoo and conditioner were also not replenished. At check in, I had shown my Hyatt gold passport card and asked for an upgrade. I'm not sure if I was given one but the room I was assigned to was on the 32nd floor. The room was comfortable but with little lighting. One of our lighting fixtures was broken and had a note that the hotel was aware of the problem and it would be fixed. It was never fixed during the five nights we spent there. There was minimal drawer space. It is a very bustling hotel- no matter what time night or day. On the plus side, the hotel is in an ideal location and some of the restaurants are very reasonable. The free shuttle stops right outside the door. I truly think this hotel should be rated a 3 star.

Needed just one night when my friend returns from her cruise. I started my bid lower than the previous posted bid since this was a weekday. I bid both french quarter and CBD and got this hotel. This is a great hotel in a great location.

I bid this for a friend. I started out in the french quarter and was rejected up to $50. I then added CBD and raised bid to $55. I got this hotel. There is a possibility I overbid but my friend is quite happy. It appears to be a well-located hotel. :D

Carlos78; As far as finding a good airfare, you might want to try digitalcity.com and then go to Los Angeles/travel/deals. They are constantly updating the best airfare deals out of LAX, Burbank, Long Beach , Santa Ana, and Ontario. I just checked and they have a special out of Ontario to Cabo $160 round trip thru Aero Mexico. The promo code is 'faresavers'. Another website that lists airfare bargains by cities is Smarterliving.com. You have to register and they will send you all the best fares from the area you specify. Most of the deals are last minute. Hope this helps.

I have a flight at 6:30 am and thought it would be convenient to stay by the airport- but only if I could get a low rate. I have been trying for a few weeks- started out really low because I have lots of time before the date and I hit it at $31.

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday, when bidding on a hotel in the LAX area. I also was told to check back in 15 minutes when making a bid for airline tickets last week, however the searching screen came on and then, after a couple of minutes, I was told to check back becuse they were working on my request. All of my bids were rejected.

I stayed here for one night and was very satisfied with my stay. They let me check in early and I presented my Hyatt Gold Passport and was given a corner room on the 21st floor. There was no mention of priceline. The room was a nice size, well furnished and with a beautiful view of the San Francisco skyline. The bellman was sweet and informative, telling us that there were sensors in the mini-bar. The location was the best- two blocks to chinatown and one block to Union Square and a cable car stop. I wish I could have stayed longer!

I used numerous re-bids and finally got this hotel at $60. The tax was $8.40 for the one night. The next day I noticed (on TOBB) that people were getting the Hyatt Regency as a 4* in this same zone at $48. Up till that time the Hyatt Regency had been a 3* by Priceline ratings.

My bid was $65 and $10 bonus and yes, this is in the North Michigan Avenue zone. By the way, the taxes I paid for the 5 nights was $51.40. And again, keep the good work.

I normally don't like to bid this far out but with the bonus money expiring on April 30th I thought I've got to bid now. I started really low, $30, because there were a good amount of rebids. When I hit $45 and was rejected I started a completely new bid for 3*. I also went up to $45 on the 3* bid and was rejected. I thought if I'm going to spend over $45 dollars I might as well stay at a 4* hotel( like I'm some kind of big spender!!). Anyway, I went back to my original 4* bid and was down to my last free bid with my most recent bid being $50. Since the bonus money was expiring before I'd have another chance to use it, I decided to raise my bid by $10 instead of my normal $5 and this did the trick. By the way, you're doing a great job with this website, great advice and very informative. It is much appreciated!
