Update... We managed to stay with friends for this trip just outside of Toronto, so a hotel wasn't needed in the end. Tina

Update.... none of these bidding strategies worked within our price bracket so we styed at the Chelsea Lodge which we had reserved as a back up. The Chelsea Lodge was so good that I think we'll stay here in future - you can't get better in NYC for $129. Tina

Details are as follows: Dates: 05/04/08 - 05/09/08 - 2 rooms - 3 adults Facilities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Spa Services Price: $105 I'm guessing it is likely to be Sheraton Centre? Is this a good price for a 4* or could I perhaps get this cheaper nearer the time or via Priceline? Travelling from the UK and have stayed in the Sheraton Centre before - and loved it. Thanks Tina

More than happy - last time we were in NYC was Feb 07 and we stayed at the Embassy Suites which was a decent hotel. I quite like the way downtown is quiet at night so no problems there.

my preference would be for around $150. we are booked into a guesthouse which is far cheaper so have that to fall back on if pl doesn't come up with the goods!

Nothing below $300 through normal channels.

I can go higher - what amount would you suggest is likely to be successful?

To be honest i would be happy with a 3 star - last time we did a priceline for NY we got the park Central which was fine and a good location. Please can you help with a bidding strategy for a 3 star - 2 rooms from 11/12 - 11/18. Non refundable this far ahead is fine as there is very little chance of out trip plans changing :) . Thanks for that - I had a feeling I wouldn't get a room that cheap never mind two! Please can you help me with a bidding strategy for a 4* in any area - transportation in NYC is so good that I don't mind where I stay as long as it is in Manhattan. Many thanks Tina

Hi everyone, I am a newbie to this site from the UK. I am looking for 2 hotel rooms in Manhattan for 6 nights arriving 12th November and departing 18th November. At the moment prices look pretty high and we are all travelling on a real budget. I would be really grateful for advice on the following: - Is it too far in advance to get a good PL deal? - What star rating hotel can I reasonably expect to get for around $100 - $120 + tax? - What areas work out to be the cheapest? I don't mind what area as this will be my 6th visit to NYC but would like to be within a short walk of the subway. Thank you all in advance for your advice! Tina
