  1. Can't figure this one out...4.5 star, restaurant fitness business for Jan. 21 to 23. Any ideas? No pool listed.
  2. Just got the 3* Boutique hotel in the Gold Coast of Chicago for 8/2-4. It had 5 amenities including a spa, restaurant and business center. Turns out is the Claridge Hotel on N. Dearborn. Got it for $99 - not a great hotel although the lower level rooms are gorgeous. Just checked in - old, not updated, plus you have to pay $10 for wireless in room. Kind of disappointed. Was hoping it was the Allegro or Monaco.
  3. We're back! Ran into a family who got Sutton Place from Hotels.com for $100 - hee hee. Actually, I was a bit disappointed. Rooms were fairly dated with no frills. Also stained sheets, which they promptly changed. Workout room was ok. Pool was small. I get the feeling some hotels get a 4* just for having marble bathrooms! BUT the concierge was wonderful - called all the record stores in Toronto looking for a Bare Naked Ladies t shirt for her - couldn't find it but instead got her two free posters! Parking was 28 a day. All in all, kinda wished I would have done Sheraton instead. Oh well...lesson learned.
  4. Hmm...Swissotel? Hard to say which is nicer - the W or there. Both beautiful rooms, lobby, even the halls. Yep, we used the pool - no charge. Surprised that we never even heard about that one!! Kinda hard to get to, with upper and lower Wacker. But worth it!
  5. Cool! Thanks! Taking the kids to the Science Center. Not sure what else, but my teenage daughter will probably dig the fashion district!! Yeah, I stepped up the bids by only a couple bucks at a time. This was the first I could get at 4* - probably cuz it's last minute!!
  6. You're right about that = absolutely gorgeous, cool room. Very Zen. I LOVED it!! My kids were so impressed. We didnt eat there though. Too expensive. But yes, the W is definitely a must see if you can!!!
  7. Uh oh...just checked out tripadvisor.com - some big time bad reviews. yikes
  8. Just a great story for you! We actually booked a "boutique" hotel this summer in Chicago - cant remember amenities, or exact location, but turned out to be the Tremont. Paid $75 for the reservation but when we got there, they were booked and told us we'd unfortunately have to go to their sister hotel, which was the "W". Oh my, I couldnt contain my "disappointment", seeing as this is on Lake Shore Drive and usually goes for $250 - awesome!!! Always great stuff thru Hotwire. Also paid $70 for the Swissotel - Wacker Drive.
  9. Well their website looks great - and yes, did see they have a pool! I'm pretty excited about this!! Thanks for all the help and I will report back to you! My dates are 4/1-3.
  10. OK - did Priceline and got Sutton Place for $70 this weekend. I hope it's a good place!!! Oh, and another tip for you - I did Hotwire for Chicago last summer - got the Tremont, boutique hotel for $75 and they moved us to the W because they had no room and it was their sister property!! Very cool place. Is Sutton Place nice? A little disappointed since I was hoping for a pool.
  11. Hey - thanks for the responses. Working with Priceline for the first time. Entered 55 - rejected, then it said to change my original request, which I did - to 60, but it keeps coming up to change the original request. I only want downtown and 4* - what am I doing wrong? Oh and by the way...go Spartans!! :)
