  1. My wife actually just booked this, but I wanted to report it to the forum. In Sacramento you get about 9 shots at a 4* in the downtown area. She went $1 at a time and ended up with the exact hotel she wanted for $98 - The Sheraton Grand. I believe rooms are about $179 at the moment, so $98 ($120.68 with tax and fees) is a nice price. She is happy. Thanks BB.
  2. Only Heathrow available hotel showing up on Hotwire. Have booked both Sheraton's and the Novotel in the past via Hotwire at LHR, and this will be my first with the Heathrow Holiday Inn. Total cost was $77.62 after taxes/fees...about 50% off listed price on website. Used the HOTWIRE link via BB. Thanks! Amenities: Airport Shuttle - Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center - High-Speed Internet Access - Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel - In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
  3. HOTWIRE had one 4* room for $42 for the one night I needed. There was also a 3* listed for $52. Anyway, amenities included a pool which made it very likely it was the Novotel. After linking to HOTWIRE via BB, I went ahead and made the purchase and the Novotel was the winner. Total of $57.44. The only complaint I can find is that they charge for internet...I am okay with that considering the price. Lots of listed Amenities: Indoor pool(s) Airport Shuttle Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking
  4. Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet Showed that 100% of customers recommended the hotel....also a 4.5* TripAdvisor rating. I figured it was the Sofitel and was pleased. Used the HOTWIRE link. Thanks! Rate per night: $99.00 Nights: 2 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $39.14 Subtotal: $237.14
  5. I've stayed at the Millennium Hilton a few times and that is very close to your hotel....it's generally a safe/clean area and you can get everywhere you need to either via subway or taxi. You are also close to Brooklyn, so maybe spend a day there as well.....thanks for providing all of the details on your purchase. It was interesting to follow. Your hotel looks very nice as well. Enjoy your trip.
  6. Just needed to find a spot near the airport for six hours or so...reviews around JFK are pretty bad, and made me think about booking some place that I could trust on my own....almost went with the Marriott before taking one last peek at betterbidding....glad I did. Found the lowest price accepted for the Hilton Garden Inn JFK and hoped for the best....accepted at $84 on my first try...maybe it can go lower? In any event, glad I got the Hilton Garden Inn and thanks to betterbidding and those that post. Of course I used the PRICELINE link. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $84.00 Subtotal: $84.00 Taxes & Fees: $24.71 Total Charges*: $108.71
  7. Only staying for one night - hoping for Le Meridian, but Westin is a nice place as well. I guess they added the "smoke free" to their list of amenities. Of course I used the HOTWIRE link. Thanks! 4* Westin Amenities: Smoke Free, Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Interent, Business Hotel Hotel rate per night - Hotwire hot Rate: $116.00 Nights:1 Rooms:1 Subtotal:$116.00 Tax recovery charges and fees:$25.49 Total price:$141.49 Total charges to your credit card $141.49
  8. Started at $85 and was offered the room for $142: "Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$142.00 Subtotal: US$710.00 Taxes and Services Fees: US$141.05 Total Charges: US$851.05" I chipped away and on my last try, $129 was accepted. Your Offer Price: US$129.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 5 Subtotal: US$645.00 Taxes and Fees: US$128.75 Total Charges: US$773.75 I am very pleased and would have literally gone to Hotwire next and purchased a 4* if this was rejected, so at least the Grosvenor House made me happy and themselves some money at the same time. :) Of course, used the PRICELINE link. Thanks!
  9. I was hoping it'd be the Hilton, but I don't mind the Sheraton. Used the HOTWIRE link. Thanks! 3.5* Sheraton Madison Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business Hotel Hotel rate per night - Hotwire hot Rate: $57.00 Nights:4 Rooms:1 Subtotal:$228.00 Tax recovery charges and fees:$35.73 Total price:$263.73 Total charges to your credit card $263.73

  11. no surprise here - Holiday Inn Regents Park Business center High-speed internet Restaurant Exactly what I wanted as I needed to book two rooms for this trip - can't beat the price and there are decent reviews for this property. Of course, I linked to HOTWIRE from the bb site. Thanks again! Hotel rate per night - Hotwire hot Rate: $79.00 Nights:2 Rooms:2 Subtotal:$316.00 Tax recovery charges and fees:$56.59 Total price:$372.59
  12. I actually prefer to stay there when I spend a quick night in the city...the location is solid....close to music venues, across the street from Tommy's (easy place for a quick bite and a pitcher of beer) ....one tip: get an inside room...even if it costs an extra $20 a night to upgrade (they charge more for inside rooms), it will change your entire trip....the noise from the streets of Geary and Van Ness go on the entire night....non-stop....there are stop lights surrounding the hotel, so if you have an outside room, it will be almost impossible to sleep....at least that was my experience. Enjoy!
  13. I probably booked this too early, but I needed to spend $500 on a new Amex card for a 50,000 mile bonus and figured now was as good a time as any. I had been keeping an eye on Hotwire for a while and was looking at Marble Arch or Mayfair....I was almost going to be content with the 3.5* Holiday Inn under the Marble Arch/Bloomsbury area for $79.....anyway, today I noticed the 5* Mayfair/Soho....in my bit of research, I didn't even think about the Park Lane Hotel as a possibility.....keep in mind, this is not the Intercontinental Park Lane...this is the Sheraton......if I could go back in time, I would probably undo the purchase after reading all of the reviews....some of the worst reviews I've seen for a five star.....but, all agree the area is good, and I will just look forward to that. Expedia price is at $227 a night, so I feel fine with the $149. I will write a review when I get back in September. This is a 5* with only "Restaurant" listed as the amenity. Of course, I did use the HOTWIRE link from BB. Cheers! Hotwire hot Rate: $149.00 Nights: 3 Rooms: 1 Subtotal:$447.00 Tax recovery charges and fees:$74.54 Total price:$521.54
  14. that's what I was hoping to hear!....reviews seem good and my friend promises it'll work out....with the SUMMERFAM discount it ended up around $200 a night after taxes, so I guess I am starting to be okay with the whole idea...thanks!
  15. Okay, just booked the Brooklyn Bridge Comfort Inn with the Orbitz link and used the SUMMERFAM coupon. Thank you! Everything looks good....I am still able to cancel for a $25 fee, so I just wanted to get this in the bag and now I can still attempt to check HOTWIRE and PRICELINE over the next week. I am still amazed at what the rates are for New York...must be due to the low dollar and people coming in from Europe.....anyway, I will update if anything changes. Thanks again!
  16. My friend actually lives four blocks from that Comfort Inn....using the link over to Orbitz, the rooms there are $192....on Comfort Inn's own site, it looks like $219.......I will probably give it one more go with PRICELINE....I was denied up to $220 last night. Brooklyn definitely makes it easier in regard to arriving at JFK and leaving out of LGA.....this trip is just for fun and it might add to the experience by staying in Brooklyn as I've been to New York many times, but really have never been to Brooklyn...we'd just spend more time in the subway....granted, I'd rather be at the Marriott Marquis or Hilton where I used to stay at a max of $169 from their own web sites, but that was 5+ years ago....anyway, thanks again.
  17. Excellent information...thank you for that. I hadn't thought of splitting up my days, but I am more than open to that. Of course I will use all your links when I am ready for my purchase. There is an off chance I will actually stay in Brooklyn at the Comfort Inn on Butler Street. I just can't grasp spending $200+ a night at a Comfort Inn, but on the whole I guess it is what it is. Thank you again!
  18. I am willing to go up to $250...for whatever reason August 5th and 6th seem to be tough nights when I check normal hotel websites.....Hotwire has a 3* in Times Square for $268 a night....couldn't find out which one that was by taking a quick look at the Hotwire forum. I am interested in: Downtown/Soho would be first..MTE second, Times Square third and MTW fourth. Any ideas on what I might get?.....I guess I'd be willing to look at a 3* if I had to as the prices for hotels in New York have gone sky high. Thanks. Edit: I just added Downtown as number one as my buddy from Brooklyn would prefer me in that area.
  19. Chose NMA - 4* - first bid of $85 was denied - rebid with Midway for $95 and was accepted: Conrad Chicago Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $95.00 Subtotal: $95.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $22.22 Total Charges*: $117.22 Very pleased! Used the PRICELINE link via better bidding.
  20. Thank you! Excellent site! No way I could have done it without BetterBidding.
  21. Started at $60 - was offered a re-bid for $17 more. I declined and went to $63. Got declined at $63. Went to $66 and was accepted. Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$66.00 Subtotal: US$132.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$27.57 Total Charges: US$159.57 Expedia has these two nights at the average rate of $284.54 per night.....can't beat Priceline on this one. I will actually be going to Toronto on business and will be staying at the Westin Harbour on Sept 10th and 11th, so I was hoping for the Westin so I didn't have to move, but the Sheraton has some nice reviews. This must show why hotels use Priceline as with everything being equal, I would have paid to stay at the Westin, so in this case even though I got a great rate, Sheraton is getting money they would normally not have seen. Ok, enough about my story. I linked from savingsbarn.com
  22. Montreal - 3 nights beginning August 11th. The fact that Montreal has only one area with a 4* really makes this a safe one to bid on. Started yesterday at $72 and went up by $2. I got declined through $82. Started today at $76. Then $82. Then $85. Then $91. Then with the last shot I tried $97. Accepted! Omni Mont Royal. Their website seems to have a special at $179CD per night for these dates, so I saved a little bit. Normally it looks like it is $229CD. There might be some wiggle room between $91 and $97 for your bids on these nights. Anyway, thanks for everyones help with posting results. :) Per Night: US$97.00 Subtotal: US$291.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$60.79 Total Charges: US$351.79
