  1. Spent 4 nights here on one of the best weather weeks in August 05 ($52.00 per night). Lobby was clean and cozy, free newspapers and wireless internet, also a computer set up with $ per min charge for internet. Was given a single queen bed room which included a sofa bed. Kids had the sofa bed and the queen bed was really comfortable. Hotel is an older converted appartment building and it does show...a few broken tiles in the bathroom, water damage on the walls, a/c leaked a little and the carpet could have been cleaner. Otherwise the room was clean and included a fridge and microwave and some disposable plates, cups, etc. It was great for keeping some drinks, water and snacks on hand for our travels around DC. Price included free continental breakfast which saved us some bucks, the usual assortment of cereal, danishes, bagels, muffins, fruit, yogurt, boiled eggs, fruit etc. Plenty of choice for all members of our family. Location of hotel was great, walking distance to the Capitol and the museums....and if you are into walking, White House, Memorials etc. are walkable. We walked to the sights and took the Metro back to the hotel (very easy to use). Neighborhood was nice and felt very safe in the area, even at night. A few restaurants and stores at the end of the street and we got good food at both the Mexican and Thai restaurants that are opposite the Capitol South Metro Station. Parking at hotel is only valet and when we arrived the city was repaving the road so no access to parking, we parked at Union Station for $18.00 per day (less than the hotel valet parking) and did not use the car at all when we were there. Union station was about a 15 min walk from the hotel. All in all a good hotel, deserving of the 2* rating.
  2. Mailed the $30.00 Hotwire coupon on 8/13 and received an e-mail on 8/18 saying that it was approved and should post within 7 days. I did not expect to get a responce that quick but it's $30.00 off my room so I'm happy. :)
  3. Decided to do one last trip before the kids go back to school and its all thanks to Betterbidding (all the great information and helpful people) that we can afford to take these trips without spending an arm and a leg. Capitol Hill Suites 200 C st Washington, DC 20003 Amenities - Suite, comp. breakfast, fitness, kitchenette, laundry Check-in 8/23/05 Check-out 8/27/05 Number of nights 4 Price $52.00 per night Tax and fees $34.95 Total $242.95 Location of this hotel looks very good and it got some good reviews in Trip Advisor. This will be our kids first trip to DC. Lots of things to do and see. Booked through Savingsbarn.com but forgot all about the $30 hotwire coupon...looks like people have been getting it anyway so will send it in and hopefully it will make our trip even cheaper. Many thanks.
  4. Booked this for my sister...... Harrison Conference Center 900 Scudders Mill Rd. Plainsboro, NJ 08536 Check-in 8/27 Check-out 8/28 Price $40 Taxes and Fees $12.99 Total $52.99 Booked through Savingsbarn.com
  5. It looks like this hotel also has tennis courts, saw this on their website Aramarkharrison hotels.
  6. Recently returned from a great stay at this wonderful hotel...what a bargain at $40, it was the most relaxing and peaceful hotel we have ever stayed in. No mention of priceline on check in, receptionist was very friendly and we were given a room on the 2nd floor upon request. Room was really nice with a great high window so plenty of natural light. Bed was very comfy with a nice goose down comforter. Bathroom clean and even had a bath mat on the floor. Closet space huge, wish I had it at home.!!! It was a warm night so decided to try the pool (next to a great changing room with showers etc and also beside a good fitness center). Water temp was 87F and a pleasure to get into, no one else using the pool until we were ready to leave. Worked up a thirst and went to the bar/lounge for a drink and also had some chicken wings(pretty tasty). Enjoyed a free game of pool and foose-ball.....haven't played them in many years. Lot's of fun. Hotel staff were very nice, greated by each one as we met in the hall. Used the free computers that are around the hotel and took a walk in the lovely grounds. Behind the main hotel is the "Laurie House".....an old farm house now used for guests and conferences. About 8 bedrooms up stairs, small conference room, dining room, living room, study, kitchen and even a washer/dryer for quests. Room key opens the front door so take a tour if you have time. All in all a great hotel and would enjoy a trip there in the winter, a few fireplaces with relaxing chairs in front....all you need is a good book!!!
  7. biddingforhotel...thanks for all the tips on our visit to the hotel tonight. We will eat dinner off site and as we are not huge breakfast fans some fruit and a muffin should hold us over until lunch. I did print out some directions from the Priceline page when they named my hotel, they seem detailed but I will have phone and hotel number handy just in case. Looking forward to visiting this nice hotel. :)
  8. :) I'm sorry....yes its a 3* hotel and yes my brother-in-law was very pleased with the price he got. Thank you again for all your hard work on this site.

  10. Thanks "dahammer" for your information. I have been to Tuckerton before but have always went via the GSP from Northern NJ. This time decided to spend a day in Princeton and then on to Tuckerton. I have never went out to Mystic Island....is it a beach area or just the bay?. I usually go to LBI for the beach when we are there. Looking forward to going a new route to the shore and enjoying some different sights along the way.
  11. Based on "Biddingforhotel's" post for a weekend night, bid $40.00 and got the following: Chauncey Conference Center Date- 8/5/05 1 night Price $40 Tax and fees $13 Total $53.00 Tried 4* up to $54 using free re-bids but no luck, was not expecting much but just thought I would give it a try. Bid placed through Savingsbarn.com Heading to Tuckerton, NJ the following day. Anyone know if Route 539 is a good way to go, would there be much traffic on a Saturday morning and anything interesting to see along the way. Thanks

This will be our 4th trip to Princeton at Thanksgiving and we have always stayed at the Amerisuites......wish I had known about Betterbidding every other year (paid regular price through their website). Yes we have been to On the Border and also Macaroni Grill and its nice to be able to walk back to the hotel after a few drinks. Booked another room, through Savingsbarn, for a friend who is going to join the party!!!! (Guess I'm the travel agent on this trip). Many thanks

  16. Thanks for all the feedback on the Paramount. thereuare - They are over here in North West NJ for 2 weeks with their 2 kids so I thought I would send the adults only to NY for a night on the town. They are hoping to see a Broadway show, have dinner and just walk around.....they want to check out Ground Zero and Chinatown. juice - Were is McSorleys located.....Midtown or Downtown. When do they have the $.25 beers (all day or just at certain times). Phaelon56...Glad you thought I got a good price on the hotel...I was hoping for around $100 but no luck. Many thanks to all.
  17. Through Savingsbarn.com for my cousins visiting from Irleand. No luck on 4 star up to $140 in the MTW, UM-CPS, UWS and UES zones. Started 3 star at $95 and raised it up to $120 with MTW, MTE, UM-CPS and UWS Got the Paramount Hotel......kind of funky so I hope they like it!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Great value for the price we paid. HOTEL REVIEW is added in that section.
  19. Checked in at 3pm on June 24th, no mention of Hotwire (your room is pre-paid, do you want to leave a credit card to turn on your phone) and got the non smoking, 2 beds I had requested. When we got to the room it was the bigger TCB Suite, plenty of room for our family of 5, 2 beds and a sleeper sofa, table with 4 chairs, office desk, kitchen area etc. so all in all a great room for the price. Parking is free as is the great breakfast. Room was clean but did smell a little musty. Outdoor pool was pretty large and clean, lots of clean towels and the water was nice and warm. Location is good, close to Winn-Dixie and Publix supermarket along with some other stores and places to eat. Right in front of the hotel is an Outback restaurant as well as a Mexican restaurant (can't think of the name). Got take-out from Outback one night and brought it to the beach (about 10 mins drive). Staff were helpful when needed and even brought over popcorn for the kids when we were getting on the elevator one night. Great hotel, good value (considering free parking and free breakfast) good location if you don't need the beach front hotels. :)
  20. Just returned and added a REVIEW in that section. Hotel placed a bill under my door for $149.00 plus taxes ($20.86). Went to front desk and explained it was prepaid so they looked this up and said that I got this bill by mistake. Hope it does not show up on my credit card. All in all a GREAT deal for my $24 :)
  21. Just returned from a one night stay at the Wyndham. No mention of Hotwire on check-in and gave me a king, non-smoking room upon request. Nice hotel..about a mile from Route 80. Room was standard business type with the ususal desk, chair and reclining armchair. Bathroom was large. Room and bathroom were clean. Hallway carpets a little worn and stained especially near the elavator (4th floor). Hotel had indoor pool and hot tub.....pool was small and the water on the cold side....hot tub was real hot. Had breakfast in the restaurant, buffet for $9.99 which included cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, baked goods, juice, coffee, eggs, bacon, etc, and a chef to make omelets or waffles. Nice breakfast and good service. Staff at hotel were plesant. There was a wedding reception the night we stayed so there was some hallway noise at night when the guests were returning to their rooms. All in all a nice clean hotel. Hotel is located in the International Trade Zone so the area is real quiet. There are some chain restaurants about a mile away (Chilli's, Macaronni Grill, Longhorn steak house, as well as the usual fast food places). Also plenty of shopping in the same area, Sam's Club, Walmart, Babies r' US, Lowes, Old Navy, just to name a few.
  22. DeltaPurser - You are quite right, Hotwire gave me back more than I paid (except for taxes and fees). There was no mention of any bed type (Hotwire does not give you a choice on bed type when booking with them).
  23. Forgot to add: 3* Restaurant, pool, fitness center, golf, tennis
