  1. Hi all I was able to get the following hotel using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin my bidding. Denver Airport Marriott at Gateway Park for $48.00 per night for Sept. 16-18. The total including tax was $116.76. This rate is great, as the Marriott.com is $99 + tax per night. That is over a 50% savings. I used the following strategy to bid for this room. started with Denver Airport for $35 added Northeast Denver for $37 added Northglen/Thorton for $39 added Littleton for $41 added I70 Airport West for $43 added Aurora for $45 added Denver Downtown for $48 I found that the 3.5* category of hotel in the Denver area gave me the most rebidding zones. I say this as none of the zones listed here with the exception of Denver Airport or Denver Downtown has 3.5* properties.
  2. Hey all I just discovered a $15 or $20 HOTWIRE discount through the Entertainment Coupon Book. Check the book out for more details, but as always use the HOTWIRE links on the site to book your hotel, rental car, or airfare. It is not an immediate discount, but rather is rebate back to your credit card, but is still worth looking at in my opinion. Also I believe they also offer a discount on PRICELINE.
  3. Hi all I just discovered that I made a mistake on a previous reservation and was unable to use Priceline to add an extra night. In any event I came to this site to use PRICELINE link to start a new reservation. This go around I did not have time on my side, so I started with a higher bid than I previously did for my other reservation. Below are the results, as well as my strategy. 3* Denver (Downtown) Courtyard by Marriott Denver for $55 on July 2, 2011. The total including taxes is $69.89. Not sure if this hotel charges for parking, but I am guessing that to be case, as this hotel is downtown and parking is at a premium. I started by bidding at $45 in the downtown zone. I was given the option of $15 to my bid for $60, but I did not accept there ploy. The then added Northeast Denver at $50. After that I added Northglen-Thorton for $53. I then added I70-Airport West for $55. Of course that did was accepted. While I would have liked to have been at the same hotel for my entire stay, it is not the end of the world. I will just pack up my belongings and check-out when I leave to go shopping and site sighting for the day on Saturday. I will then check-in at the new hotel before walking to Coors Field for the baseball game. Word to the wise triple check your dates when making reservation, no matter if on Priceline or another site, so you don't make the same mistake.
  4. Hi all Just posting a follow-up, as I thought I had booked my room for 2 nights. Today after looking at my receipt for the hotel address, I discovered that I only booked this hotel for 1 night. I tried added an extra night to my reservation, but did not have any luck. In any event I had start a number reservation. Please check out my next priceline hotel win thread in regards to this reservation on Priceline.
  5. Using the PRICELINE link on this site I was able to to get the following hotel using the strategy listed below. Residence Inn Denver City Center for $50 on July 1-3. Total for this hotel with taxes and fees is $64.07. A friend had suggested that I bid $51, as another person had previously mentioned as a winning bid for this hotel. I did not, but ended up getting this hotel for a similar price. Below is my strategy. Started out with a $35 bid for 3* in Downtown Denver - bid not accepted Then added Northglen/Thornton with a bid of $40 - bid not accepted Then added Northeast Denver with a bid of $45 - bid not accepted Then I70 Airport West with a bid of $50 - bid was accepted for hotel listed above. I do understand that the hotel does charge a $20 per day parking fee, but so does the Hyatt and Sheraton that I have stayed at in the past, so I guess that is not a big deal. Might look for a cheaper parking option, but I don't think I will find it.
  6. I thought I was going to make all of the reservations. If that had been the case I would have had better luck. We did not get an awful deal on this hotel (better than their discounted rate if you subtract the regular airfare price from the total package price), but could have gotten a hotel in a better location with a heavily discounted rate by bidding at PRICELINE.
  7. Thanks to everyone for their replies Someone else tried Priceline to book our hotel for this trip. This person did not give me too any details (zones, *s, bid, or so on). This person decided to use $100 Entertainment Book Coupon on package deal (air, hotel, and show tickets). In any event we added with the La Quinta Inn and Suites Chicago Downtown. I just need to figure how we are going to get from O'hare to our hotel. If it were up to me, I would just take the L-train, but I am not sure what the others in my party will think of that.
  8. Sorry I did use the HOTWIRE link at this site to do my search. I forgot to include that in my post.
  9. Hey all Just looking to see if anyone can help ID a 3* hotel in MagMile Streeterville zone. I am looking at the dates of 4/6/11-4/12/11. Hotwire lists this hotel, as having the following amenities, fitness, business center, and high speed internet for a rate of $67.00. Seems like a good rate for even a 3*, but wondering if can be better by bidding at Priceline. Also wondering about some of 4* hotels offered for just under a $100 and if I would really get a better hotel for the extra $30. Thanks Wyomingtraveler :)
  10. I also am no longer seeing this listing. In any event I decided to use my Delta Skymiles to books a room. I have enough to pay for most of my room at either Harrahs or Flamingo. Just need to decide which hotel to book. Wyomingtraveler
  11. Hi all I am looking for some help in IDing a 3* hotel in the Las Strip South zone for 10/25/10-10/29/10. Below is the list of Amenities: Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Thanks Wyomingtraveler
  12. HI all I am taking a aunt from California to the airport in Denver and was in need of a cheap hotel room near it for this coming up weekend. Of course, as I have had very good luck with Priceline I decided to use the PRICELINE link on this site to bid on a room. Here are the results of my bidding. First bid was $30 for just the airport zone and 2.5* hotel. Second bid was $35 adding Thorton/Northgleen. Third bid was $40 adding Northeast Denver. Of course third bid was accepted for the Fairfield Denver Airport for a total charge of $52.64 including taxes and fees. After getting a winning bid I checked the Marriot website and found their lowest rates to be $99 plus taxes and fees, so once again I feel that I did very well.
  13. Hi all As others have recently posted here I was too able to get a room at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center using the PRICELINE link on this site. I was to this room for $55 + taxes for a total of $69.96 for 8/21/10-8/22/10 vs. $144 at Hyatt website not including taxes. This is my second year in a row to get a room there. Very much like the location, as it is close to Coors Field (although no game this year) and Union Station (friend's sister takes an early Amtrak train from there). I started out biding low at $30 for 3.5* in Downtown Denver. That bid of course was not accepted, so I used the the following strategy until I finally got a winning bid. For the first few days I would add $2 on to the bid, and a free rebidding zone (either Thorton/Northglen, Northeast Denver, Aurora, Denver Southwest/ Lakewood, or Litleton) until all of my free rebidding zones were exhausted and of course would wait another 24 hours. On the last few days, as I got closer to $45 or $50 I only added $1 on to the bid until my final bid of $55 was accepted. Now I hope for my friends sake we get a room on a low floor, as does not do elevators and has to use the stairs. I think we were on the 15th or 16th floor last year. :)
  14. Hi all :) I was able to get a room at the Springhill Suites Denver Airport for $40 ($52.72 including taxes and fees) for dates of 6/11-6/12. I just a quick search at the hotel website and found a rate of $99 + taxes and fees. The total price was slightly less than what I was able to find at Hotwire for a 2.5* at $59 and of course that does not figure in the taxes and fees. I started out bidding at $24, but that was not accepted. I then added Thorton/Northglen, as a free rebidding zone and upped the bid to $28 with not luck. Again I added northeast Denver, as a free rebidding zone and upped the bid to $32. That again was accepted, so waited 24 hours to rebid at $36. No luck again, so I bid $40 tonight after waiting 24 hours with success. Looks like a fairly new hotel, as they tell you to use the address of a nearby eatery when using a GPS to find this hotel. As always I used the PRICELINE link on this site to bid on this hotel. Wyotraveler
  15. Thanks, someone just posting the Baymont Inn and Suites for $59, although I listed the hotel at $52, but I am sure that is not correct. Just waiting to see if I can get a room for less using Priceline. Either way I post my results on the page. Wyotraveler
  16. Hi all I did a search for a hotel in Denver using the HOTWIRE link on this site. I was looking for something near the airport for next weekend (Jun 11-12). I get a 2.5* in the Denver Intl Airport DEN area hotel with the following amenities at $52 + taxes and fees. Shuttle - Smoke free - Breakfast - Fitness - Pool - Business Center - Laundry - High speed internet I don't see anything listed on this site for a 2.5* hotel with these amenities, but do see a 3* hotels (Holiday Inn Express and Country Inn) with them. I have stayed at the Country Inn and Suites at a much higher price and would stay there again. Just wonder if anyone knows which hotel this might be. Wyotraveler
  17. I decided to try Priceline using the link on this site for a trip to Denver that recently posted about at the Colorado/Hotwire part of this site. While I knew $44 I was finding at Hotwire for a 3* hotel was very good for the South tech Center zone I decided to see if could get a similar hotel for less at Priceline. Below is what I was able to get. Hotel: 3* Hilton Garden Inn Denver South/Meridian for Feb. 04 through Feb. 05, 2010 Paid: $33 + $11.66 (taxes and fees) = $44.66 ($9 less than Hotwire figuring in the taxes and fees and of course much less than hhonors.com) Bidding info: I was looking for a hotel in the Tech Center South, Tech Center, or Cherry Creek zones, so I used this to my advantage. Started out by bidding $25 in the just the Tech Center South zone. This bid was rejected, so I did the following. Rebid $30 by adding the Tech Center zone. This bid was also rejected, so I did the following. Rebid $33 by adding the Cherry Creek zone. This bid was accepted. A friend suggested that I add Denver Northeast and then Northglenn - Thornton, as neither have 3* hotels in them.
  18. I was just searching Hotwire for a hotel in Denver, CO for 02/04/2010-02/05/2010. One of the listing I get for the area named Denver (Tech Center South) is for a 3* for only $44 with the following features. Fitness Center - Pool - Restaurant - Business Center - High Speed Internet It looks like the Hilton Garden Inn Denver South Meridian, but the first listing for this hotel has restaurant crossed out. Also the 2nd listing shows restaurant, but does not show high speed internet. If this is the case that would fine with me, as hhonors.com shows rates at 3x that amount or more. Any one else out have any guesses on this one? Thanks
  19. Hey I booked a room on Veags.com for next month at the Palace Station in Las Vegas. They offer a low rate guarantee and give 200% of difference back as credit to your charge card. That rate for the tower room I booked was $40 at Vegas.com, while I had just seen $24 rates at other sites. In any event I went a head booked this room with them and then I sent my request for this credit. I thought they might try and weasel their way out of this, but they did not and got an e-mail confirming that I was getting a credit of over $120 from them for my 4 night booking. After receiving this credit I then checked their website and they were offering the lower rate like the other sites. Michael
  20. Thanks I just a did a search at Priceline and the airport seems to be the only option. I have also looked at some companies like Budget that have off airport locations and for a few days they are almost more than if I book at the airport with a cheaper company like Payless. I may just book the car for the entire stay and call it good.
  21. Hi all Despite the fact that is a very good deal I have decide against it, as it a little far out. I would rather be closer to the strip. In any event I think I am going to stay with a friend at the Palace Station. She has able to get a tower room for $24 + taxes and fees per night. In addition she also says that she gets a $20 rebate upon completion of the trip. While not right on the strip it still closet than the Red Rock and they even offer a free airport and strip shuttle.
  22. Hi all I am planning a trip to Las Vegas for next month and was wondering if I used Hotwire or Priceline if I could rent a car from a non-airport location. I had been looking to stay at the Red Rock Hotel, but decided it was too far out for me. Also I may be staying with friend that is looking at Palace Station. In any event they offer a free airport and strip shuttle and thus would only want a rental car for a few days instead of entire our entire stay. Thanks
  23. I did this and I do also see SPA and tennis, as well. If this is the case it looks like it might really be the Red Rock and that would be a great bargain, as their website shows the lowest room rates at $175 per night. Only thing is that is close the Strip and everything it has to offer. Thanks for your timely reply
  24. I would continue with PRICELINE, but I would bid less than $99. I have always been able to get a room for less than this price they quote you. Hope this helps
  25. Hi all Using the link on this site I did a search of Hotwire for 10/18/09-10/22/09 for a hotel room in Las Vegas. One of the choices is a 4.5* hotel listed, as west of the Strip with the following features. Resort, Casino, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed Internet, and Golf The room is is $55 per night. Only 4.5* hotel I see listed here is the Red Rock and there a few extra features listed. Was hoping someone else could give me some insight, as other possible hotels that might be. Thanks
