  1. Would you post where you got the rate of AUS $200? (US$148)?? As I calculate your winning bid inclusive of taxes and service fees, you per night total rises to $152.58. With rates that close, I am wondering whether it's worth locking into a Priceline situation. Thanks for sharing!
  2. 4* Marriott Baltimore Waterfront for 7/16/05 - $79 accepted -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First bid of $70 rejected (4* Inner Harbour); added a 2nd zone & rebid $75 which was also rejected; added a 3rd zone and bid $79 which was accepted. Your Offer Price: $79.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $79.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $17.90 Total Charges: $96.90
  3. Also looking for Auckland hotels (for November 05). Where did you see them posted? Thanks for any help!
  4. How much later are you trying for? I'll be looking for something in October and don't know when to start! Any suggestions? Thanks.
  5. Thanks for the info, gbs. One more query: If you bid on the priceline Hong Kong site, do you get billed in Hong Kong dollars & then pay an additional conversion fee on your credit card? Good luck on your additional bidding!
  6. Please clarify whether you got the Sydney Harbour Marriott (which has been listed as a 5* hotel) OR the Sydney Marriott, which I understand to be a different hotel not down near the Harbor. What are the dates of your stay??? Also, would you convert your bid to US currency, please? Many thanks!
  7. Which hotel did you get for May 5? Was $95 your first bid or did you have to increase to that level. Re your subsequent bids, what increments did you use to get to $108? How do you bid on the priceline uk site? We'll be in Sydney in October and would love help with bidding. Thanks!
  8. Not sure what you mean. Is it too early to be bidding now for October 2005? Should I wait a few weeks and try again, or should I just keep increasing my bids now?
  9. I've been trying to get the Syndey Harbour Marriott for the end of October, 2005 (10/26-29), but have had no luck. Bids at $75, 80, 85, 90 and $100 have all be rejected! Am I just bidding too early? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Logo
  10. What does the Insurance that PL offers cover? Would it cover the cost of the "non-refundable" room should there be an accident or illness (by either the traveler or the traveller's family) that prevented travel? Also, is there a market for rooms that have been won & paid for, if :) travel can't take place?
  11. We Will be going to New Zealand (North & South Islands) next November (2005) and traveling with 2 other couples (6 people total). How should we approach booking through Priceline? What kind of strategies should we use? Should one person book 3 rooms to be sure we all get the same hotel? Are we better off trying now (so early in the game) or waiting to closer to our departure? We are all Priceline novices and would GREATLY appreciate your patient advice! I didn't think there was anything through Hotwire, but again, I might have missed it. We are also going to Australia, but I will post that as a separate topic. Many thanks for any help! Logo
  12. We Will be going to Australia (Sydney & Great Barrier Reef) next October/November (2005) and traveling with 2 other couples (6 people total). I've noted that in Sydney, the Marriott has been posted many times as the winning 5 Star Hotel (and at incredible prices). Can we be certain of getting it -- are there other 5 star Sydney hotels that have been available? I didn't see any others, but may not have been looking in the right places. I've found nothing on hotels in the Great Barrier Reef area. Does anyone have any suggestions? We would like to stay in the Port Douglas area (unless we can snag one of the really wonderful upscale resorts at a reasonable price!) We are also going to New Zealand, but I will post that as a separate topic. Many thanks for any help! Logo
  13. What was the hotel -- and when are you going there???
  14. My back up is the Sofitel @ $189. Going through PL I would expect to be able to find something at $110-125. Is it worth taking the chance? Would appreciate some bidding advice. Thanks!
  15. Looking for a 4* New York City Hotel Well, I made my first leap into Priceline and came up empty handed . My 72 hours ends tonight (Sat) and since I need a hotel for next weekend (4/16-4/18), I'm beginning to feel a bit anxious. We have tix to a show Fri night, would like to spend a lot of time at the Metropolitan Museum, Whitney, etc. & also want to see Soho. I do have a back up, but would like to try for a good price at a nice hotel, e.g., the NY Hilton, Intercontinental Barclay, Waldorf Astoria, or Stanhope. Nothing was accepted in my bidding, although other posts indicate successful bids at those numbers. Is it a quiestion of timing? Or, is everything taken by now? Also, can a spouse bid separately and thus give more flexibility? Please HELP with bidding suggestions! My last attempt (following earlier posted advice) was as follows: 4/7/04 MTE Bid $85 - rejected Added MTW & Bid $90 - rejected Added UM/CPS & bid $95 - rejected Added UES & bid $100 - rejected Added UWS & bid $110 - rejected Thanks! :)
  16. I was thinking about hotels like Library Hotel, Muse, Iroquis, Michaelangelo, etc -- or am I dreaming?
  17. Most of the postings for 4 * range from $94 to 145. Most appear to be large hotels. What is available in a smaller Boutique type hotel -- and at what price range? Also, are there any reports of *5 hotels through Priceline? If so where and at what price range ? I'd welcome your suggestions for bidding these kinds of properties. Thanks!
  18. Any suggestions or strategies for getting one of the NYC Boutique or more upscale hotels rather than chains that most of the Pricelne posted messages seem to show? Any suggestions on getting a nicer hotel (4-5*) at a reasonable rate? I am trying to get something in NYC for 4/16-4/18.
