  2. A couple of Phoenix, AZ updates: The Hotel San Carlos (Downtown Phoenix) has been downgraded to 2.5* The Scottsdale Plaza Resort (Scottsdale) has been downgraded to 3*
  3. Welcome to BetterBidding. The hotel list for this forum (the one that's pinned to the top of this forum's list of topics) shows all of the hotels that have been reported by BetterBidding members. There are a few other 3* hotels that have not yet been reported, but your chances of getting one of them are very unlikely. You do have rebid zones for 3* and 3.5* bids (there are currently two at the 3* level and four at the 3.5* level). Check again and feel free to confirm them with us before you start.
  4. But it might also be the La Quinta Inn & Suites Vancouver, a hotel that's rated 2* on Priceline. The set of amenities doesn't exactly match those of any Vancouver hotel on Hotwire's vacation packages or reported wins here, but it is a subset of La Quinta's (Smoke Free, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Business, Laundry, High-speed Internet) as well as the Residence Inn and Staybridge Suites. (As a side note, it appears that my latest update of the Portland hotel lists was missed, as was BEAV's update of Ft. Lauderdale just before it.) The Hilton is not currently showing any available rooms for your dates. And if you somehow did get it, I think you'd be very pleased (I stayed there this past September). The cheapest of the 3* hotels on PRICELINE's retail service is the Red Lion Airport at $70, so I wouldn't bid higher than about $40 for now. You have one rebid zones for a 3* bid (Northwest Portland); if price is the most important consideration, you could try the following strategy: Bid $33 for 3* Vancouver if rejected, exit and start a new bid for 3* Jantzen Beach and bid $33 if rejected, add Vancouver and bid $35 if rejected, exit and start a new bid for 3* Airport and bid $33 if rejected, add Vancouver and bid $35 if rejected, add Jantzen Beach and bid $38 if rejected, add rebid zone and bid $40 This will get you the lowest-priced hotel in the three zones, with a slight preference for Vancouver. Personally, I think I'd bid a litter higher for Vancouver and Jantzen Beach before adding the Airport zone; if you'd rather do that, let us know and we can suggest a different strategy.
  5. Welcome to BetterBidding, jessie14. The amenities are a match for the Hotel Vintage Park on Hotwire's vacation packages, so that would be my best guess based on what you've told us. If you could give us the dates of your stay, we may be able to give you a more definitive answer. If you decide to book this hotel, please use the Hotwire link on this site to begin your purchase.
  6. Welcome to BetterBidding, lukin19. I agree with your guess that the 3* is the Radisson Toronto East, but the 3.5* is not the Crowne Plaza, which is still rated 3* by Hotwire. I can't be sure what this hotel is, since there's no TA information and the amenities are quite common, but my best guess is the Wyndham Garden Toronto. If you decide to book either of these hotels, please use the Hotwire link on this site to begin your purchase.
  7. Portland, OR updates: Hotwire Portland (Airport PDX) 3* Radisson Hotel Portland Airport VP also showing Golf and Tennis 3* Red Lion VP also showing Smoke Free and Golf 3.5* Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel (previously 3*) (I haven't been able to verify yet through VP, but amenities and TA info are consistent with this hotel) Portland (Beaverton - Hillsboro) 3* Red Lion Hillsboro is now the Hotel B. I have not found a listing for this hotel on VP. 2.5* Extended Stay Deluxe Portland - Hillsboro - NW Cornell Rd. VP also showing High-Speed Internet 2* Homestead Beaverton VP lists amenities as: Laundry Portland (Downtown - Convention Center) 3* Courtyard Downtown - Lloyd Center VP lists amenities as: Smoke Free, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Laundry, High-speed Internet (no longer the same as the Crowne Plaza) 3* Crowne Plaza Downtown Convention Center (formerly Holiday Inn) VP lists amenities as: Shuttle, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Laundry, High-speed Internet 3* Red Lion Hotel Convention Center VP lists amenities as: Smoke Free, Fitness, Restaurant, Business, High-speed Internet, Golf Portland (Greater Downtown) 3.5* Hilton Executive Tower no longer the same as Vintage Plaza (see below) and no longer listed as a customer favorite. 4* Hotel Vintage Plaza - A Kimpton Hotel (previously 3.5*) VP lists amenities as: Boutique, Fitness, Restaurant, Business, High-speed Internet 3.5* Hotel Fifty (previously 3*) VP also showing High-Speed Internet 3* Mallory Hotel is now the Hotel deLuxe. I have not found a listing for this hotel on VP. Portland (Jantzern Beach - SW Vancouver) Is now Portland Meadows - Jantzen Beach - SW Vancouver 3* Hilton Vancouver Washington VP also showing Business and High-speed Internet Portland (Lake Oswego - Tigard) 3.5* Crowne Plaza VP lists amenities as: Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, High-speed Internet 3* Residence Inn Portland South VP also showing Smoke Free Portland (Vancouver) 3* Residence Inn Portland North VP lists amenities as: Shuttle, Smoke Free, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Business, Laundry, High-speed Internet, Kitchenette Other hotels listed in VP (I would suggest replacing the current list with this one, as much of the info on the current list is obsolete) 4* RiverPlace, a Larkspur Hotel Boutique, Restaurant, Business, High-speed Internet, Spa 2.5* Comfort Inn & Suites Portland Intl Airport Shuttle, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness, Pool 3* Four Points By Sheraton Portland East Smoke Free, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, High-speed Internet 3* Holiday Inn Gresham Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Laundry, High-speed Internet, Golf, Tennis 3* La Quinta Inn & Suites Vancouver Smoke Free, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Business, Laundry, High-speed Internet 2* Homestead Portland/Tigard Laundry 2* Extended Stay America Portland/Beaverton Laundry, High-speed Internet 2* Extended Stay America Portland/Gresham Laundry, High-speed Internet 3* Silver Cloud Inn Portland Downtown Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness, Business, Laundry, High-speed Internet 4* Hotel Lucia Boutique, Smoke Free, Fitness, Restaurant, Business, High-speed Internet 3* Courtyard Portland Southeast Smoke Free, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Laundry, High-speed Internet Priceline Portland (Airport PDX) The Sheraton is rated 3*. The former 2* Red Lion Inn is now the Comfort Inn and Suites (the Comfort Suites is a different hotel). Portland (Beaverton - Hillsboro) The 2* Red Lion is now the Hotel B. Portland (Downtown) The Hotel deLuxe is rated 4* on Priceline.
  8. The amenities and TA information are consistent with the Sheraton, so that would be my guess as well.
  9. Welcome to BetterBidding, AnaP. Although the TA information is consistent with the Legacy Golf Resort, I don't think that's the property HOTWIRE is advertising. The amenities are substantially different from the ones listed for the Legacy Golf Resort on HOTWIRE's vacation packages, and it appears that the resort has smoking rooms (also, it would be odd for this resort not to list "Golf Nearby" as an amenity). My best guess is The Buttes. If you decide to book this hotel, please use the Hotwire link on this site to begin your purchase.
  10. Welcome to BetterBidding, Mapletherabbit. This is a match for the Sixth Avenue Inn on Hotwire's vacation packages, so that would be my guess. If you decide to book this hotel, please use the Hotwire link on this site to begin your purchase.
  11. Welcome to BetterBidding, ASA_SEA. Hotwire has made a number of recent revisions to the ratings of its hotels. The star-level and amenities are a match for the Listel on Hotwire's vacation packages (the hotel was previously rated 3.5*), so that would be my guess. If you decide to book this hotel, please use the Hotwire link on this site to begin your purchase.
  12. According to Hotwire's vacation packages, the Coast Plaza Hotel has indeed been downgraded to 3*, so (assuming that list of amenities does include Tennis) that would be my guess. If you decide to book this hotel, please use the Hotwire link on this site to begin your purchase.
  13. Welcome to BetterBidding. Hotwire lists a maximum of 8 amenities on the search results. To view all of the amenities, click "continue" to get more details about the hotel you're interested in, then click the "see all amenities" link that's just below the amenity icons.
  14. The Strathcona has been downgraded to 2* since it was last reported (here's the listing on Priceline's Travel Guide), so you're safe. The Novotel Toronto Centre is another 3* hotel in the Downtown Toronto zone, but nobody's yet reported getting this hotel. If the 3.5* hotel you're seeing on Hotwire is indeed the Delta Chelsea, then there's a good probability that your 3* bid on Priceline will get upgraded to the Delta.
  15. The hotel appears to be a match for the Executive Hotel Vintage Park, but I see that you've already booked a hotel through Priceline. The Entertainment District zone on Hotwire is fairly large and many areas of it are just fine. The area that most Vancouverites would call the entertainment district is not very nice, I agree. But it's only a small part of this zone.
  16. Welcome to BetterBidding, shetlander. My best guess would be the Westin Grand. The Sutton Place and Hyatt Regency are in the Downtown West zone, not the Entertainment District zone. In which area do you want to stay, or does it matter? If you decide to book this hotel, please use the HOTWIRE link on this site to begin your purchase.
  17. I see two problems with bidding in the Airport zone: 1. The airport is a long ways from downtown, and it will seem even longer if you have to make the drive between the two during rush hour. The commute would probably be tolerable if you were only staying a night or two, but five nights is another story. 2. If you decide to stay near the airport or anywhere else outside of downtown Seattle, what do you intend to do with your car once you get downtown to attend the Gift Show? You can probably get a good rate for day parking on the weekend, but during the week you could end up paying almost as much as you'd pay to park at a downtown hotel. I don't know enough about your itinerary or downtown parking rates in Seattle to give you a definitive answer about what option is best for you. However, if you're attending a convention downtown and decide to stay elsewhere to save money on parking, just remember to factor in the total cost of commuting (including gas, downtown parking, and your time) into your calculations. If you intend to spend most of your time in downtown Seattle, I recommend that you first bid for a 3* or better in the Downtown - Pike Place zone. If you can get something for $60 or less, I think that would be your best option in terms of overall value. If you're going to spend your R&R time elsewhere, you might want to consider splitting your bid: spend the days that you'll be attending the Gift Show at a downtown hotel, and spend the other days at a hotel in another zone to save money on parking. Just remember that you'll pay a second Priceline fee if you do that.
  18. As Colfax said, you don't need to change both the zones you're bidding for AND the star level in order to bid again; you only need to change one or the other. This is how the rebid zone strategy works: by adding zones that only have hotels of lower star level, you can bid again immediately without having to lower the star level or risk getting a hotel in a zone other than the one you originally bid for. I recommend that you read this post on Priceline Rebidding if you haven't already. Although Phoenix North does not have 4* hotels, it does have Resort properties, and any bid of 4* or lower that includes North Phoenix runs the risk of being upgraded to a Resort in this zone. There are several other zones in the Phoenix area that you could add to a 4* bid without exposing yourself to this risk.
  19. I'm not sure why AaronJB advised you to wait 24 hours after your first bid. You have five rebid zones for a 4* bid -- City Hall-Downtown Vancouver South, Coquitlam-Burnaby, Langley, North Vancouver, and Surrey-Pitt Meadows (always verify, of course, before you bid). A possible strategy is: Start with 4* Downtown Vancouver and bid $54 If rejected, add a rebid zone and bid $57 If rejected, add a rebid zone and bid $60 If rejected, add a rebid zone and bid $63 If rejected, add a rebid zone and bid $66 If rejected, add a rebid zone and bid $70 This way you have a good chance of closing the deal in one session. If you've already made one bid and have been rejected, you can either wait 24 hours and try the above strategy, or you can start with the second bid (4* DT + one rebid zone at $57) and proceed from there. If you're not familiar with the rebid zone strategy, read this post on Priceline rebidding and feel free to ask us for help if you have any questions.
  20. My best guesses are: 4* condo - Westin Kierland Villas 3.5* condo - Scottsdale Links Resort 3* condo - Gainey Suites If you decide to book one of these properties, please use the HOTWIRE link on this site to begin your purchase.
  21. I bid as follows: 3* Park Central - $35 (counteroffer +$9) 3* Park Central + Arlington South - $37 3* Park Central + Grand Prairie South - $39 (accepted) The total came to $142.59 after taxes and fees. Hyatt's advance purchase rate was $132/$89/$89.
  22. Are you looking at this hotel for yourself, LPDX? If so, please start a new topic for your stay (and give the dates for your stay). If you're trying to help breezykeezy (I'm guessing that you are, judging from your username), that original post is now almost a month old, so there's probably no point in doing so now -- but thanks for trying. For the record, I think the hotel that breezykeezy was looking at is the Crowne Plaza Convention Center, which I would have mentioned at the time if he/she had bothered to give the dates as thereuare had asked.
  23. Welcome to BetterBidding, dubl07one. I've seen a couple of other inquiries about this hotel, but nobody has confirmed its identity. My best guess is The Signature at MGM Grand. If you decide to book this hotel, please use the Hotwire link on this site to begin your purchase.
