  1. Glad to be back, and know I can always count on you for help. When I click on each zone, no I do not see the star ratings for each. Not sure if I am checking on the wrong site or what. Also, we are looking for a 3* or possibly 4*. From what I see posted, $60.00 for a 3 seems to be the norm for a downtown location in recent bids. Hope this gives you more to work on for me. Thanks!
  2. thereuare, I need to bid on 2 rooms for 2 nights for Downtown Ottawa September 28 - 30. First question, I can't seem to find the star ratings for the four zones, thus don't know what my re-bid zones are. Second, will I always get the option to bid on a second night if I only bid on one night, or should I not risk it and bid on two nights right off the bat? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Was looking for a downtown Miami hotel for pre-cruise May 5th, 2007. First bid of $75.00 was accepted for two rooms. Subtotal: $150.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $28.80 Total Charges: $178.80 Reviews showing 8.0 and Priceline listing for $194.00 a night. Am extremely happy with the outcome.
  4. Decided to try for a 4* and received the Westin. 5. First attempt with no re-bids and was able to get the Hyatt Regency Miami downtown for a bid of $52.00 for April 16th, 2005 for our pre-cruise.
  6. Took your advice and wasn't so anxious on the constant bidding, but just tried tonight and got the Hyatt Regency Miami on my first bid of $52.00. Didn't even have to re-bid. They must have opened up some rooms for my date of April 16th, as it was completely sold out previously. Again, thanks for your support and direction. "D"
  7. I was able to get a post-cruise hotel, Sheraton Downtown about a month ago and have been trying every 72 hours since for my pre-cruise April 16th. I am up to $55. with no success. Got the Sheraton Biscayne-Bay for $54. Should I keep going on with this as it is still months away, or would you suggest a different strategy? Increase the bid more? Stay where I'm at and keep bidding? I guess my question is - when should I start to worry and have something booked by? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Finally, after numerous attempts my bid was accepted for $54 for a post-cruise hotel April 24th at the downtown Sheraton-Biscayne Bay in Miami. I had originally bid $42 for Downtown Miami - Rejected Added North Miami with a bid of $47 - Rejected Added Southwest Miami with a bid of $54 - Accepted Still no luck using the same strategy for pre-cruise on the 16th, but I will keep trying. Many thanks to BetterBiddingAdm for all his help and direction.
  9. Originally bid $35. which they rejected and suggested I countered to raise my bid by $9. I turned them down and tried again with a bid of $38. and was successful. (A $6. savings for those of you who think you should feel pressured to do so.) Price : $38.00 Taxes: 4.81 Processing Fee: 5.95 Total Cost: $48.76 Don't be afraid to ask for help. I did and the guidance I received from 'thereuare' was exceptional. I am completely sold on this website!!!
  10. For all you Canadians out there who may encounter a problem bidding once you reach the address screen, use your city ONLY where requested, use CA (California) for the state and use 99999 for the zip code. I just made a successful bid tonight using the above-noted and it was accepted with no problems. Hope this helps! "D"
  11. Well have to let you all know with the top notch assistance I received from thereuare, I managed to get the Sheraton-Biscayne Bay, (downtown Miami) for a bid of $40. With taxes and processing fee it came to a grand total of $50.95. I'm thrilled! Now to work on the post cruise stay! "D" :)
  12. Thank you so much for responding so quickly and yes, with your help (i.e. AOL instand messanger) I think I am ready to do this. Downtown Miami for pre cruise is definitely the way I want to go and undecided about post as I do not know Miami at all. You suggested Miami Beach area, but I heard Dadeland was supposed to be nice too. Can't seem to get a feel for how far each one is from the airport. See you're needed again! Anyways, let me know what a good time is for you and I will stand by my computer to take a crack at this. Thanks again! "D"
  13. Okay you've got a newcomer here and totally inexperienced to say the least. I have to tell you I find this "bidding" strategy incredibly confusing. I need a hotel in Miami for pre and post cruise for April 26th and May 4th. It is just myself traveling, (mom) with my 12 year old son, so I'm not even sure if the option of bidding for a hotel is in my comfort zone. I'm half scared of what I could end up with, therefore should have paid the regular price to begin with. Any suggestions and/or tips that you could pass along to make me feel a tad bit more secure about this?? Greatly appreciate it! :) "D"
