  1. Thanks so much. I am going to try for the Hilton and Hyatt in Santa Clara first. Then I will try for Homestead Suites, for 3 nights only. Have been away from home since July 4th, getting tired of hauling luggage, hopefully can get into Hilton/Hyatt, and be done. Thank you for the help, it is so kind of you to do all this, really appreciate it.
  2. You are right. I am in Good Nite Inn in Calabasas now, it is clean, safe area, but $70, it is more like a $50 type. Looking for a 2 star, but since I have to stay so long, I don?t want a dirty place, or scary neighborhood, since I am female, on my own. Net is free, to while away time, waiting for my son to come back from Stanford camp.
  3. Will have a car. Cheap, clean and safe, with free net. Is $50 to $60 out of the question ? Thank you for any suggestions.
  4. Swisshotel in Chicago was great, thanks to Betterbidding, will post in Chicago forum. Due to change of plans, had to cancel Comfort Inn. Now @ Goodnite Inn, Calabasas. They have construction going on north side. Cheaper @ $70, Comfort was $116, before taxes. Now, must go to your other California forum, for room in Palo Alto from July 30 to August 10. Thanks for all your help, mahalo.
  5. @ Orlando airport, on way to Chicago, Swisshotel, till the 24th, then onto Pepperdine. No free internet @ the Swiss. But no suucess on Priceline, have backup @ Comfort Inn Santa Monica for $116. Only paying $109 for a 4* at Swiss. Thanks for trying to help, appreciate it.
  6. Nope. I have been trying to get a 3 star in Santa Monica for July 24th for $110, $115, $120, all rejected on Priceline, using Savings Barn link. Have Comfort Inn Santa Monica backup for $116. Also tried for 3 star for Woodland Hills for July 24th, or 25th till July 29th, for $70, also rejected. I see Hotwire has 3 star in Woodland Hills/Canoga Park, for $89, for July 24th to 29th. Or for the same property, from 25th to 29th, for $85. Or 26th to 29th for $79 Fitness, Swim, Rest., Laundry. Midscale. Still being patient. Will go down to 2.5 star, and offer $60, as time gets closer, if still no success by then. Just want a cheap, clean, safe place to stay, from 25th to 29th. We are coming from Hawaii, so not really in need of beach area. Just want to be close to Pepperdine University. Thought I might show my son Venice Beach on the 24th.
  7. Thanks, I will do as you suggest. For the 1st night, I want to stay in Santa Monica. For the rest, I am flexible. I have been using HOTWIRE to look at Manhattan/Redondo beach. Will wait patiently.
  8. I have tried up to $110 on Priceline for Santa Monica, 3 star, for July 24th, rejected. For the rest of the stay, I have tried Woodland Hills, and Thousand Oaks, 3 star, up to $70, also rejected. Using HOTWIRE link here. Will keep on trying. Thanks for help. Might try 2.5 as you suggested.
  9. Forgot to mention, I learned from this forum, to have a backup. I have Comfort Inn Santa Monica for July 24th at $116. It is my first time at this, thanks so much for the wealth of information and help.
  10. So sorry. Just for the 1st night, July 24th, wanted to be near Venice beach, to show my son around. The next day he goes to overnight camp till the 29th of July, I plan to stay in some 1 star for cheap, as long as it is clean. Most likely Woodland area, or Thousand Oaks. I will rent a car now, can get a car for $135 a week. Meanwhile, still bidding on Priceline, for Santa Monica, July 24th, up to $120, rejected.
  11. 3 Star in Santa Monica - Marina Del Ray This midscale establishment offers more than just the basics in style, comfort and customer service. Nr. beach oceanfront complimentary breakfast fitness center business center laundry internet near golf $153 July 24th and 25th. Thanks
  12. HOTWIRE has 2.5 star Woodland Hills- Canoga Park, limited service establishment. Comp b'fast, laundry, net. $62.
  13. Last resort would be airport hotel. Then no car needed, there is a shuttle to Pepperdine for $25 one way, son will go on that. I will just stay in motel and read, and wait for his return. But I am going to keep trying for Thousand Oaks and Woodland Hills. Iam going to try splitting my bids like you suggest. Thanks.
  14. I need a room from the 24th for 5 nights, check out 29th. Next year, the kid will be old enough to go to camp on his own, phew, this is pretty costly. The airline tickets from Hawaii are a killer, and we are not flexible on time or dates, so no shopping around for those.
  15. I am okay with splitting the stay, since I will have a car. Bid for car @ $10 was rejected by Priceline last night. Thanks for the help.
  16. Nope, still trying to bid on Priceline, for Thousand Oaks, and Woodland Hills for $60 a night, no luck yet. Will rent a car now, so plan to bid on Priceline for that. No camping alone for this girl.
  17. Thanks Aaron. Coming from Hawaii, our 1st time to Chicago, for volleyball camp. Then it's off to Pepperdine for another volleyball camp. Still working on that lodging. Prior to Chicago, we are in Atlanta for a volleyball tournament. Really needed the savings, thanks so much for the help, to you and others on this forum. Aloha.
  18. Thanks for all the help. If $89 turns out to be Embassy, and Swissotel is close, it will work out great, just walk myself over. Thanks so much.
  19. Thanks for all the great ideas. Will check on car and go from there.
  20. Oops, forgot to ask this, I was told many hotels do not allow Saturday check in, and it will cut down my chance when I bid for a room, is that the case? Do I then only take the Hotwire $89 for only July 18th and 19th? That seems a little short, what are your thoughts on this? Thanks.
  21. Thanks so much, it really helps. I saw the $89 on Hotwire, but being a first timer, I didn't know if I should go for it. Should I use the link above, on the very top left hand corner, or is there a link you would prefer me to use, like savingsbarn, where is that link? Thanks.
  22. Thanks so much. I am hoping to get by without a car. Pepperdine has procured a shuttle from airport for $25, one way, $36 round trip. May have to get a car afterall. Going to call Prime Shuttle to see if they can drop off @ hotel. Or just stay by the airport, let my son go on the shuttle from airport to Pepperdine, and I stay by the airport, cheaper, and won't need a car. Shuttle will bring him back to airport @ end of camp.
