  1. Hey! I think I have been to that place. I always try to hit Columbia Bagel when there, they have the yummiest bagels!! Although, this trip I am low-carbing it, WHAT AM I THINKING????? LOL! I think that will last about 10 minutes!
  2. Have been working on this one for quite a while. It was a shot in the dark for just a Saturday Night. Started with MTE at $120, added MTW at $130, added CP at $140, added UWS and won at $145. Pleased.
  3. Here is an update on the hotel we stayed at... We really could not tell the hotel was under renovation at all. The staff was very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was great (the beds at the Sheraton are simply the best.... down comforters and pillows, yummy...) We have no complaints at all about the stay!
  4. Hi Triguy! We sailed from Tampa in July 2003. We bid about a month out and got the Tampa Hilton Westshore for $52 plus tax, for one night. This was a nice hotel and EXCELLENT service, I mean EXCELLENT! The guy that drove the airport shuttle was so nice, he actually took us to a fun bar and introduced us to the bar staff and several people, which made us feel right at home, then came and picked us up at bar closing. It was by far one of the most pleasant hotel stays I have ever had. I believe the usual rate for this hotel was around $140, so I feel we got a really great deal. Good luck and have sailing!!!
  5. Just for a little clarification on this :) I did alot of research on various hotels offered in ALL the zones I bid on with 3* ratings. ALL of them came up at a minimum of $159. I did not want to bid over $109, as we had a corporate rate at another hotel for $109. The only one I did not check was the North Charleston Sheraton, as it's name implied that it was in North Charleston (and since North Charleston did not have a 3* in it's zone, I did not feel it necessary to check it, it turns out, the North Charleston Sheraton is actually in the Coliseum Zone). Once I won the bid, I checked the website and found it was offered at $109... which I would imagine is because of the renovations, as all the other 3* hotels in the area are well above this rate. I feel I did adequate homework to make a well-informed bid. I am calling the hotel this morning just to make sure that all public areas will be available. Oh yeah, I'm a girl :) So no wisecracks!
  6. I just did some handy dandy sleuth work, and while it is called "North Charleston", the hotel is actually in the Coliseum airport zone (tricky), so that is fine... My main concern is the renovations, which hopefully won't be too bad. It looks like a nice hotel, so fingers crossed... Thanks again for all your help! I will "review" the hotel upon return!
  7. Started this bid at $80 in DT Charleston (i'm a dreamer), added EC, WC, Airport, Ashley River and N Charleston. Finally won at $109, but got the Sheraton North Charleston, which I understand is under renovation. North Charleston listed on 2.5* so I was using it as a free rebid. I wanted a 3*, which is what I got, but I did not really care to stay in North Charleston. Hopefully the hotel will be nice and we won't experience too many troubles. I believe the total for 2 nights was $245 including taxes and fees. I am still pleased as Charleston is a pretty expensive location to stay at any time, and apparently the gardens are open, which makes it even moreso...
  8. You guys are so nice over here!!!! The hotel is actually called the Sheraton North Charleston, but North Charleston borders very heavily on the other zone, so I am not terribly sure if I have a leg to stand on. I sent correspondence to customer service and I am waiting for someone to call me back. I usually have success with Priceline, but this one has been a mess. I have a couple more to bid on, but I am hesitant in doing so before I get this one wrapped up. I will post my winning bid under SC to help others :) Thanks again for the warm welcome!!
  9. Okay, I posted this at TOBB and it disappeared. Just trying to get some suggestions on how to follow through with this. I had a succesful win for the Charleston, SC area. Actually received a 3 Star in N Charleston, which actually listed the highest level a 2.5*, I used this as a free rebid so I was disappointed. Nonetheless, won the bid at $109. Found out the hotel and checked their website. Surprise Surprise, I could have gotten this hotel for $109 directly through the hotel! THEN find out that the hotel is undergoing serious renovation during the day (which is when we will actually be at the hotel). I am very disappointed that Priceline would use a hotel that was undergoing renovations, and also that I saved virtually nothing! I actually paid more because of the Priceline fee! Any suggestions? The travel dates are this weekend, so time is running out.... please help (without being mean!!!)
  10. It is by good fortune that I found this site! After being scolded like a schoolkid at TOBB, this is a breath of fresh air! We do quite a bit of traveling with my company and I decided that consulting with other travelers would be a smart way to go (day and age of trying to save pennies!). I happened upon the other site and tried to get some feedback for two upcoming trips (which I quickly found out was a big no-no, like people don't plan multiple trips?). Once I received a "strategy", I noticed that others had been winning bids at lower prices. Once I recounted my bidding process, I was once again scolded for not following strategy! Paying too much, a strategy, go figure!!! I was scolded and told that I was "trying to pull one over on her, and wasting her time. Then today I posted a problem I had with a winning bid, trying to get some feedback and my message was yanked because we used the other travelers credit card info to rebid (circumventing Pricelines rules and regs.... which is completely not true). I have had an email war where my character was attacked and I was called a liar. Come on, it's a message board for traveling not the CIA. I banished myself, the tribe has spoken. SO GLAD I found a board where people are made to feel welcome and not like criminals!! Kudos!
