Is there a priceline strategy to win any hotel (3* preferred) in Portland, Maine downtown waterfront area? Looking to walk the city, dine, and lodge there rather than drive to and from the airport hotels. Thanks.

Got the deal. Here's what I did. 1st bid MCI Airport Zone. 2 nights 3* $64 Priceline came back with a one time offer for $8 more 2nd bid MCI Airport Zone 2 nights 3* $72 Won at $72/night. I'm happy. Thanks! I used your PRICELINE link.

How do I determine which hotels are located within a zone before I bid? I used to use the matrix for this process but since it's not being shown on PRICELINE then what would the work-around be? When I'm on the "name your price" side of Priceline I see a map with zones -- however priceline does not describe any of the hotels located within each zone... At least, using the matrix was a method I successfully used that was available to target a range of hotels -- perhaps things have changed?? Thanks for the advice.

I also have the same troubles. I tried the betterbidding link to PRICELINE and went to the "name your own price" side and am unable to see the matrix -- it used to be a tab on the top next to "map" and "list", etc. What am I missing?

Tripadvisor isn't all that reliable -- you absolutely have to read between the lines. I have been to this hotel and it's just fine. they even give you warm chocolate chip cookies or tasty cakes upon arrival.. shuttle was great. Don't sweat it...

Attempted Priceline 1 day prior to travel for 3.5* Philadelphia (PHL Airport) 11/18/09 - 11/19/09 and did not win at $75. The 3.5* would get either the Hilton or the Marriott. Was not willing to spend more. Ended up settling for a lower published price 2.0* hotel. As usual, Thanks for the advice.
