  1. Friend and fellow cruiser bought the same hotel today for our cruise, on Hotwire for $90+ = $105+. Maybe I should have waited but I wanted the Hyatt Place and for 4 in a room. I'm happy. Thanks for your help and direction. Bon Voyage
  2. Yes it was. I actually found a recent review and confirmation from a traveler confirming the icons, etc. I booked it. Date: 2/20/2010 Link: Hotwire Stars: 3 Hote: Hyatt Place off 17th St. Location: Ft. Lauderdale, Las Olas-Dowtnown- Port Everglades Price $128 Tax: $19.17 Very happy with the location. Have stayed here when it was Amerisuites.
  3. 3 Stars, Ft. Lauderdale Las Olas-Downtown- Port Everglades Icons in order: Shuttle, Smoke Free Rooms, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Business Center, High Speed Internet - price for 2/20 $128. I tried a Hotel Package check using the same weekend but 2 night stay and this hotel did not come up. Could it be the Hyatt Place off 17th? Thanks.
  4. Intercontinental Hotel in Downtown Miami. I really wanted this hotel for one night pre-cruise, 11/4/06. Another cruiser mentioned he won it on Priceline for $125. Least expensive quote was $208/$229 on PL. First bid was $110 for 4* downtown Miami; rejected. Counter bid add $22 = $132 which was accepted. I am pleased with the winning bid for this area. Bon Voyage
  5. Most car rental options are "off terminal" at MCO. You will just take the shuttle van. You won a very good price for an SUV and a Holiday period too. Was your bid on Priceline? = Opps, sorry missed your statement it was Hotwire!
  6. If you have a Priceline reservation for the Hilton at the airport in FLL/Dania, Please note - the Hilton became a Wyndham on 12/1. Please take a moment and call the hotel directly @ 954 920 2200. Ask for the local reservations or sales department to confirm your reservation. I had to make 3 calls, but finally found a willing reservationist to check & confirm my Priceline reservation. First, they don't use the PL resevations numbers - get a new Confirmation number. Second, my reservations (2 rooms) were incorrectly put in on the wrong date. I would have never known and there would not have been 2 rooms waiting for 7 people. I also requested the bedding set up we needed and gave them our By Request Numbers. They took these with no comment and they did know it was a Priceline reservation. Thereuare, thanks for your bidding input. I am not sure I understand the theory, but am happy with our winning bid just the same. Our flight does not get in until 4 p.m., so this Airport hotel will be just fine for the night. The reservationist even gave me a recommendation for dinner and a Van Limo service which will accommodate our family instead of getting 2 taxi's to the pier. Bon Voyage
  7. Could it be the Holiday Inn? People are winning that hotel for the Winter months on Priceline. It is coming up as a 3 star. It is right across from the beach with only highway in between. Did you check the Hotwire "package" function to see if the icons match a named hotel?
  8. :) Just won, Hilton/Wyndham Hotel reservations on Priceline. Started @ $60 for 3* Downtown hoping for the Marriott Marina. Increased bid to $65 and added Miramar; went to $70 and added Airport. I am OK with this, as I know it will be a Wyndham Hotel after Dec. 1 and we have the By Request membership for a few extras. I will call hotel after they take over and request double beds for the children. Hotel includes airport shuttle so we save some there too. As long as there is a pool, everyone will be happy. 9. I too think that the rates will come down as we get closer to our vacation dates. I am looking for the weekend before yours; 2/21. Cruise lines hold blocks of rooms at major hotels for pre-cruise guests. They will probably release rooms after final payments have been made: think around Christmas for our dates. Also, you have an acceptable back-up so you won't be stuck without a room. The HI is right across the street from a nice stretch of beach, but it is also near a busy fire station, a draw bridge and major intersections. We won the Doubltree Galleria Suites for $75 last year which is about 2 blocks back from the HI right on the Intercoastal Waterway. You could get that one as it too is a 3* hotel. Taxi fare from the airport is about $20 and port about $15 (that may inc. tip). Hold off and watch what others are bidding/winning. You have plenty of time.
  10. We couldn't have asked for a more convenient and nice hotel. Won on Priceline @ $55 per night. Our room was on the 12th floor corner with 3 huge windows, so the ship was viewed early the morning of our cruise departure. It was 2 blocks to the St. Charles St. trolley to tour the Garden District. Our friendly porter, advised us exactly when to plan to taxi to the port due to Superdome game schedule and traffic. We walked to the FQ and took their free trolley shuttle to and from the Quarter and Riverwalk. We also requested late check out, so there was no rush to wait at the port which can get very congested.
  11. Although in the Beach area, the Doubletree Galleria or Oceanfront is another suite hotel option. They are both convenient to the Intercoastal waterway but do not have transfers or breakfast in their cost. Once you win the bid, you can call the hotel to request the "bedding" configuration that you will need: two doubles with the pull out soafa. The suites are two large separate rooms with one large bath. Taxi to the pier is about $15.
  12. On 1/7/03, I was trying for a 4* Beach area (Hyatt 66) but goofed and entered 3*. I had been trying for many months with no success. I had a reservation on Valuetrips.com for $79 at Amerisuites but wanted something better near the beach. With taxes & fees the total charged was $89. Of course I will have to pay for a taxi to and from the airport/port. This all suite 230 room hotel does not offer breakfast or transfers. It is right on the Intercoastal waterway, with a Water Taxi stop at its dockand is 2 blocks from the beach.
