  1. Attempts to bid for three nights starting 2/19 were, for some reason, unsuccessful up to $68. Split the dates, won the Radisson at $62 for 2-19: Check-In Date: Monday, February 19, 2007 Check-Out Date: Tuesday, February 20, 2007 Hotel Name: Radisson Hotel Austin North 6000 Middle Fiskville Road Austin, Texas 78752 Your Offer Price: $62.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $62.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $17.03 Total Charges*: $79.03 Tried to add an extra night, but offer at $62 was refused. Began new bid for 2/20 - 2/21 at $64, unsuccessful. Added Downtown at $66, successful, and at the same hotel: Hotel Name: Radisson Hotel Austin North Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $66.00 Subtotal: $66.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $17.69 Total Charges for Original Reservation*: $83.69 Then successfully added the extra night, for three nights at the Radisson, the first at $62, the last two at $66. I know, strange strategy, but I'm happy with the results... Aloha.
  2. Bidding various combinations of 3* in the airport area for several days (South SF, SFO, San Mateo, plus Civic Center rebid zone) from $51 to $76 without success. This afternoon, something finally came through at $59: Check-In Date: Tuesday, February 13, 2007 Check-Out Date: Wednesday, February 14, 2007 Hotel Name: Four Points By Sheraton San Francisco Airport 264 South Airport Boulevard San Francisco, California 94080 Your Offer Price: $59.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $59.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $15.96 Total Charges: $74.96
  3. Hoping for Homewood Suites, which has been excellent when I've stayed there before, or maybe even the Holiday Inn, which was fine last Fall...but the Best Western Grosvenor Airport Hotel came up as a three-star, so you can add it to the pinned list. $56, one night (1-29-2007) Amenities: shuttle, complimentary breakfast, pool, business center, restaurant At least the TripAdvisor reviews looked good... Aloha.
  4. The catch being that fees and taxes add another $19.61... (But that level of taxes and fees would apply to any rental out of SFO anyway.) Sigh...
  5. Started with bid for 3* Arlington at $45, rejected. Added Crystal City, upped to $50, rejected. Added DuPont Circle, upped to $57, rejected. Added Alexandria, upped to $61, rejected. Closed browser and started over. First bid, 2.5* Crystal City at $60, rejected Added DuPont, upped to $70, rejected Added Alexandria, upped to $77, accepted and upgraded to 3* Washington Hilton. Aloha.
  6. Courtyard at Oyster Point came through for me today at $46+. But I, too, have been trying periodically over the past week or two...
  7. Been trying off-and-on unsuccesfully for the past week to get a 2.5* near SFO. Finally came through this afternoon: Courtyard San Francisco Airport Oyster Point Waterfront 1300 Veterans Blvd San Francisco, California 94080 Subtotal: $46.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $13.85 Total Charges: $59.85
  8. Hoping to get a 4* for under $50, as I've been successful from $41-45 in the past. Mission accomplished, although it was a few dollars more this time. First bid $42...rejected. Added a zone and went to $46...rejected. Added another zone and upped to $49...accepted. When I was a Hyatt Diamond, I received all the status perks on Priceline stays here, but alas, those days are over...so we'll see how it goes. Aloha.
  9. Trying to save some $$ by looking in the nearby VA suburbs for a Thursday night. Started with a bid for a 3* in Crystal City at $55...rejected. Added Arlington for $60...rejected. Added 2.5* for $65, accepted: Courtyard By Marriott Arlington Rosslyn 1533 Clarendon Blvd Arlington, Virginia 22209 Not a deal in absolute terms, but for some reason, mid-March looks very expensive around the District. Aloha.
  10. Saw the earlier post about the winning $75 bid, so tried to lowball at $68, no go. Added a zone, bid $73, rejected. Hit at $75, which is just fine with me, as hilton.com is showing the various Hiltons in the District at $250-300 for these dates. Aloha.
  11. Amenities as listed in the Hotwire Hotel List on this forum...no surprise.
  12. Tried to lowball, unsuccessfully, at $31. Added zone, no go at $36. Finally hit at $41 Homewood Suites By Hilton
  13. Unsuccessful at $42, $47, $52, finally hit at $57 which seems high for LAX, but at least it succeeded. Crowne Plaza, Los Angeles Intl Airport Los Angeles Airport (LAX) 5985 W Century Blvd Los Angeles, California 90045
  14. First try at $70 for USE rejected. Added USW and raised to $73, rejected. Added Cathedral Hill and raised to $78, accepted at the Omni San Francisco, 500 California St. at Montgomery. Have never stayed at an Omni hotel, but all the TripAdvisor reviewers seem to love it. Aloha.
  15. Flying from HNL to IAD and looking for someplace close to crash for one night. Tried to low-ball first bid at $44, unsuccessful. Added rebid zone and got this hotel at $48. Lowest room rate on Marriott web site for this date is $279. Marriott Westfields 14750 Conference Center Drive Chantilly, Virginia 20151 From the reviews at tripadvisor.com, this looks like a great hotel. Aloha.
  16. Have gotten The Cypress Hotel on weekends for $65 in the past, but have never seen reports of a successful weekday bid. Started at $85, unsuccessful...ditto at $91, $98, and $103. Finally got it at $108. Perhaps a bid of $105 might have worked, too. This for Monday, January 24, one night. It's a great hotel, and I'm glad to be returning. Aloha.
  17. Unsuccessful first bid at $73, upped to $78, $84, finally hit at $89 for January 20, two nights: The Westin Fort Lauderdale 400 Corporate Drive Fort Lauderdale, Florida Reports elsewhere indicate $79 was successful for a few days prior to my stay, but no luck here. Aloha.
  18. Another one at this price point: Your Offer Price: $69.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $138.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $25.92 Total Charges: $163.92 Seems like $69 is the sweet spot for July... Aloha.
  19. With the forum split now, not sure if this belongs here or in the SF topic...anyway: 1st series of bids, 4* Cupertino 7-26 (Monday-one night), failed at $80, $85, $90, $95 with free rebids. 2nd series, 4* Cupertino, failed at $100, $105, successful at $114 Might as well try the preceeding night (Sunday, 7-25): first bid at $65 accepted. Hotel website rates are $89 (Sunday) and $169 (Monday). Lots of free rebids at the 4* level here, too... Aloha.
  20. One more datapoint for the record. Successful on first attempt. Your Offer Price: $105.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $210.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $38.28 Total Charges: $248.28 Aloha.
  21. Just wanted to report this successful bid and add a datapoint. First bid, 4* O'Hare Airport @$60, rejected Added Greater Chicago, reduced bid to $58, accepted. If the second try would have been rejected, I was prepared to up the bid and add NMA. Aloha.
  22. Hyatt Regency SFO is in the SFO Airport South zone. This hotel features the following amenities: Airport Shuttle, Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center,Business Center HTH. Aloha.
  23. Used the helpful hint of matching star ratings and amenities in the Hotwire tips forum here. Over the weekend this hotel was showing at $60, then up to $63 on Monday...down to $53 today, so I bit. Found this board through FlyerTalk some months ago, but just got around to registering, having had nothing meaningful to contribute until now...thanks for all your good work here. Aloha!
